Using Q5 Pro here. Upgraded to Kodi 17.3 recently. Still working fine for me, including Exodus.

Suggest to uninstall Exodus and then reinstall it.

Other apps working fine?

Tried Exodus on a clean Kodi V17.3 install? As i think, the jump from 16.1 to 17.3 was too much for your current setup to migrate properly.. Tons of changes happened between both versions.. Krypton is a significant upgrade, so a fresh start is advised.

Try purging all Kodi related settings/data...not just uninstall / reinstall...

the home button is to return home if u r stuck with any app, short of cutting off the power.

or if u want to use another app while keep an app running (e.g. copying files with a file manager).

this kind of button is found in many devices, incl smart tvs.

kodi will exit properly if yr build is done properly.

yes, it does get stuck frequently if u hv too many things inside or visit some bad links often.

try to use indigo maintenance tools to clean up regularly.

or the native cleaner app found in the launcher.

however, i hv not seen any further problems arising from exit using home button.

Just sharing a test I have been doing since early May. I stopped using the screen EXIT button, used remote HOME button to exit KODI. A month is quite a long time and any resulting error should show up by now.

3 things:

AA
On cold Q5 Pro startup, sometimes (about 1 in 20), it hangs there and I have to press the power button to restart. This has happened before when I was using the screen EXIT button. Frequency about the same. So don't think this problem is a result of me using the HOME button to exit Kodi.

BB
When I returned to Kodi after using the HOME button, it brought me back to the page where I left Kodi. So HOME is more like a pause function than a true exit.

CC
Before May when I used QUICKCLEAN, I usually cleaned about 200-400 MB of memory. On using the HOME button to exit Kodi, seeing 400-700 MB a few times on using QUICKCLEAN. Think this is due to uncleared memory on using HOME button to exit Kodi.

Found this.

Attached Image

As long as the memory usage is not too high in playing my Q5 Pro, then using HOME to exit Kodi (temporary or permanent) is AOK.

Cheerio.

What u experienced is normal.

Home screen button means u keep the app running in the background. This is not good if u next run a memory consuming app.

Do that a few times, u may run into memory shortage, box gets sluggish.

Kodi... yes, use cleaner app or indigo inside kodi to clear cache, etc. If u keep kodi clean, it will not hang.

More so if u use quasar and have wrong settings storing files unintentionally.

Same thing, if u keep box clean, it will not hang.

This is one reason q5pro 8gb is not as good as q10pro 16gb.

All you've experienced is normal.. The Home button on Android acts as the "Minimize" button on PC OSes like Windows, Mac or Linux distros.. The app will stay in its suspended state until the system requests more RAM, in which case the firmware's "kill" app to free memory, kicks in.... Suspended app gets force-closed (not shutdown/exited properly) for good and RAM is released. For some as in your case, doing this a couple times won't hurt, but pray that day will never come when Kodi's files are corrupted and it refuses to launch or becomes problematic.. smile.gif

Thanks for testing and feedback.

On 8 GB vs 16 GB, I used to think with 16 G,B one will have 16-8 = 8 GB more for me. Not really.

I changed from Himedia H8 2+16GB to Q5 Pro 2+8GB, initially worried that the 8 GB would cause me problems with the limited free memory for a smooth Kodi operation. I went ahead with the Q5 Pro change. Surprise, surprise later when I got Q5 Pro running with more or less the same Kodi + apps setup as when I was using H8.

In both H8 and Q5 Pro, I have about 1-1.5GB free memory. Why?

Learnt later from a guru that it is not 100% dependent on the 8 or 16 GB, it depends on how they configured the memory. So looks to me that in Q5 Pro, their memory configuration is better! Ha.

True about configuration and partitioning.

H8 is less efficient, possibly due to firmware as well.

The 16gb is useful for lots of apps n storage consuming apps like kodi quasar n popcorntime.

Local playback, just a few apps, q5pro will perform same as q10pro.

Dude.. You are confusing yourself.. RAM memory is not the same as Storage memory. In both devices, you had 2GB RAM.. RAM is for running apps and not storage. Don't mix em up.

Edit:
Yes on a typical 16GB device you'll have at least 8GB more to play with. I'm yet to see any with free STORAGE leftover (after firmware + stock system apps) less than 8GB. You should be getting around the range of 10-12GB free storage memory.

As for RAM, leftover RAM depends on the following;
*How many apps running at a given time.
*How much is required by the firmware to stay "sane".
*How efficient (or brutal) your device is at managing available RAM.
Thing is, RAM was designed to be used and so just cuz one out of two same devices with the exact config on each, uses lesser than the other, doesn't necessarily mean that it's the better one. It simply boils down to efficiency. So seeing the same range of free RAM on both the H8 & Q5 Pro is expected.

Hi Guys, Q8 owner here.
I just updated the firmware to HMD-3.0.4 and now I mkv files have no sound. It used to be able to play the file without issues.
I though updating the firmware will allow me to play 10bit H265 encoding but sadly no sad.gif

Is there a way to revert back to the old firmware?
I try searching but only found the latest firmware available for download.
Thanks.

*Update: Perform fresh installation of the firmware resolve the issue. But still unable to play H265 files sad.gif

1. yes, a mini one, not full. has the main - audio, setup, chapters, playlist.
2. if u buy locally, it is std version; import from or buy in china, i dunno.

3. if u do not need help with such a box, u can buy online, from shops, from sellers in garage section.
if u need help for firmwares, apps, networking, formatting >2TB internal HDD etc., better buy from a known helpful seller.
u can pm and ask some of the users if u can't find a name.

check the firmware. if it is 1.0.x, it's a bit out of date, android5.
2.0.1 is android7; there is 2.0.3 but i m not using it.

i do not know what u expect as "bluray menu".
it is certainly not like a bluray disc where u see a full blown menu popping up.
the mini menu is just one line on the screen, brought up by pressing a button on the remote.
