Yes, i wanted to know if the update is for the box firmware or some app.

I do not think it is the box firmware as himedia is not known to do that. It is normally done manually via settings, online or via usb.

Still, if it was a firmware update that failed, it will not install, will fall back on last firmware once u power off n on again.

If app update.... i hv seen apps that hijack the launcher upon startup. If this app had an update and failed or upset the box firmware, u will get strange things. Once this app is removed, all will be good.

You definitely need to take the box back to seller to diagnose, fix.

Very normal to put as much possible at purchase!

Just take it back, quite sure it can be fixed quite easily.

By the way, I downloaded and installed without problem. I'm using 108 before upgrade, now is 109. What is your firmware version before upgrade? Could be more complex if you already Android 7.

I believe there is some bugs in the OTA which just recently released. I would advise to click "Give Up" when the screen prompt until it is confirmed stable.

For your case, get the firmware file from the seller and refresh your firmware with recovery mode as mentioned by AVFAN.

this is an app to use a proxy, available at playstore.

can just install like an app, no need to root.

works ok.

for Q16, if using VPN, just use the VPN function in settings.

Be careful when using these roms which specific design for Chinese version devices. If your device is international version, avoid it.

Thanks a million bro. TBH currently my firmware 1.0.7 is still working fine for me biggrin.gif . But i wanna future proof my Q16 a bit.

Another question, i have this app called "Full Media Launcher" which is used to watch China channels. I have not used the app for more than a year. Few days ago, i launched the app and an update was required. Since the update, whenever i switch on my box, the app will auto launch. I will need to close the app before I can used Kodi or etc. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

I clicked on the link. It was in Chinese. See I really have no issue with Himedia device. But on hindsight for someone who doesn't read chinese, I am better off buying a Minix where most materials could be found in the internet in English. I personally find searching for materials pertaining to Himedia a challenge if you don't read chinese.

Let this be a reminder for all who are planning to purchase an Android box.

Hi, I have checked the international version you shared. However, there is no firmware for Q16. Can i use the firmware for Q5? Since it is similar specs to Q16 except for the harddisk space

u definitely want to get the latest for q16 -3.0.4.

"full media launcher" - is this the native "mango" launcher or something else?

after every update, u need to reset the default launcher within the settings of the launcher of yr choice, e.g. apex.

for that, yes, minix or some other may be a better choice.

however, the one critical feature i stick to himedia is it comes with an excellent native player with great video and audio output capabilities - mini bluray menu, dtshdma/ddtruehd/ddatmos. can't do with less if using a home theater system. not sure, but i read some people saying minix does NOT have a native player, need to playback usb via kodi only. if true, it sucks big time for me.
