that, i am surprised.

older models using same remote will bring up a full menu for video, soundtrack and subs options.

possible changes with android7 firmware; u should want to know where to activate those options.

ask yr seller.. and perhaps other users of this model can help u.

i haven't got one yet!

I managed to narrow down the issue. The black border only happen when playback video from my DLNA media server. Local videos in SD card, USB HDD and internal HDD are working perfect. Menu button will bring up settings just like you mentioned.

Seem like it is using different player as the UI is not same. hmm.gif

i see.

don't really know DLNA but i think it is pretty obsolete - likely some incompatibility with the newer media player/codecs/containers.

don't think is DLNA issue here, it is the codecs or player issue within the media server

Hi All,

I am using Himedia Q16. I believe my firmware is very very outdated (1.0.7), I wish to upgrade it. From the attachment, which of the firmware listed is suitable for Q16? I can't seem to find any for Q16. Brother AVFAN, you have any idea?

Thanks bro. The box is still operating fine even with Kodi. Just that i read users have been upgrading until version 3.04...so i wonder when my firmware will start to be a burden..

q16 is not in there becos it was an "asian" model for some selected markets only.
1.0.7?! biggrin.gif

there was 1.0.8, 1.0.9, 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.0.3, 3.04.

if u bought from nicety, can get from him.

just take note:

.. not sure if u can go straight from 107 to 304, may need an intermediate version.

.. q16 have dual and quad cores, not sure if firmwares are the same.

with 3.0.x firmware, there is no need for google patch file anymore.

Aiyo bro,

I didn't buy from Nicety, but I hope Nicety is nice enough biggrin.gif to share the firmware with me..LOL. The seller from Digital Mall don't offer such service. Basically they sell you the box, you're on your own.

This is normal.. What with tons of cheap boxes out there and buyers looking for the best bargain.. Naturally, there's not enough profit margins for most sellers to offer after sales service.. beyond say warranty claims.. Which is why proper research should be done on a box before purchase and if in doubt, buying one with confirmed future support, directly from the manufacturer is highly advised.

I have no problem with maintenance of apps and Kodi. But this firmware thing is a challenge especially when it is not available publicly.

if think all firmwares are available on public sites or the proxies.

just that u need to know where, need to read chinese for a start.

buying from a service minded seller has its advantages, no doubt.

its used to work, then no more.

same with many other boxes.

must be some detection of device type, mac addr, etc.

the same applies for hypp everywhere.

aotg, hypp everywhere work flawlessly on handheld devices - tablets and phones.

guess they found a way to block them on boxes, generally.

Damned! Envy!

Did you buy it from Nicety or...? How much?

Looking at the remote, think it's well built, doesn't feel cheap and flimsy as compared to other boxes Sunvell, Beelink, Nexbox range..
