H8 itself (both quad core and octa core) is capable doing hardware decoding, it just that my issues with myiptv and hdtv was due to app incompatibility with this particular model.

Octa core version, haven't tested it but supposedly it would have no problem.

Ur problem is only pix quality?

Well, the primary reason is to be a media center. So in addition to streaming/watching movies, Its my audio center, plays audio files, podcasts and acts as a radio. I hooked up a PS3 controller and game a bit on it when I can... PS Emulators, Asphalt 8, Dead Trigger, Modern combat, etc (I reserve heavier gaming for the PC). Used to use my previous box as a torrent downloader to an external HD (Less electricity consumed + no need to copy here, there..). Some browse on their TV, I don't and find it improper to do so in the family room. Get a compatible webcam n mic, install Skype, hangouts, etc, and can chat with family n pals.

P.S. For more homely/nefarious activities... It can also act as a webcam + audio recorder.. icon_idea.gif

One thing about this HiMedia player I am starting to dislike is that it's got very poor phone support. My Q5ii don't have any app for my android and iPhone to use a remote. Their is also very poor firmware update. I would think the Xiaomi Mi TV box would be better especially the jailbreak one.

I'm using a box from Minix and as so, not sure if your HiMedia box would be compatible, since this is the HiMedia thread. However, mine's a simple plug n play (USB from PS3 controller to box), wireless support can be had through rooting the box + Sixaxis Controller app from Google Play. There are other wireless enabled game-pads and tons of wireless keyboard+touch-pad combo out there compatible with android boxes. Most operate through Bluetooth or a small USB dongle for boxes without Bluetooth support. I've got 1 Anker wireless keyboard+touch-pad to let go, its brand new.. PM me for a quick sale. smile.gif

Hi all, I'm not sure if Ah_Wah has got it sorted out, but I read thru the thread and couldn't find any more answer to Ah_Wah's query.

I have the same problem.

i scrolled to the right, just 3 icons, Market icon is missing.

I brought it back to seller, he hooked my Himedia up and the Market icon is there!!
I am using TIME internet, staying in a condo.  I'm not sure if this is the problem

I suspect it could be some network settings... i'm not familiar with that

any Sifu here can please help?

thanks a million  icon_question.gif

Hi, I've not been accessing cloudTv for a while until today to try something. Surprisingly the Market app icon has appeared after launching cloudTv. The only things that I did extra is assign an email account ang login to playstore before launching cloudtv. Hope this help you too.

After purchasing a package, I face another problem, all the station just show a black screen without sound and picture when I launch the station. Now am looking for a solution.

Quick solution is goto CloudTV Setting -> untick cloud TV default player, the next streaming will prompt you the player, choose MX player or other 3rd party player.
P/S:Don't choose CloudTV player.

Long term solution is upgrade to latest firmware version.

You've been warned not to get the Q3.... If you can't yet justify a better box now, simply save up a bit more and buy later. Rather than buy now and later complain about poorer performance or incompatibility with newer apps. The Minix X6 is a much older device so I'd advise to skip that too. However, say your needs are quite simple and you are satisfied with their current performance, then by all means go for the MINIX NEO X6, at least its got the Amlogic S805 Quad-Core CPU.

I understand that. But am not willing to spend the extra as I am not using it to replace my astro. I just want a box for watching tvb and older hk series and some other movies, both english and chinese.

Hence I have narrowed down to these 2 models. The minix x6 has got quite good reviews online, why is it a better option?

Summarily and also as you've found out, the Minix box has better reviews online.

Btw, why did u say "at least its got Amlogic S805 quad core cpu"? Is that a good processor as compared to Q3's A9?
