I am thinking of buying 600A. Can it play BDISO or BDMV or BD java with full menu and smooth playback and off course with DTS-MA passthru?

QUOTE(willkso @ Oct 10 2011, 10:56 AM) Realtek chipset so far can't display a full BD Java menu yet.. For smooth playback and DTS-HDMA and Dolby TrueHD pass through shouldn't be a problem.. Ok. For smooth playback and DTS-HDMA and Dolby TrueHD pass through shouldn't be a problem..sounds good to me. BTW, which player can do full BD java menu? |

QUOTE(Kevmj77 @ Nov 8 2011, 12:00 PM) Got my HiMedia HD900B player last week from Digital Mall, PJ (ccs221), video playback is exellent on almost all the format i tried, however there are 2 problems I encountered:- Is 900B available in Malaysia already? If yes, how much? Thanks1) After I switched off my player & switched it on again, it couldn't detect my external harddisk (BUFFALO). Tried to switch off & on the player & my HDD many times but still couldnt detect. Then I tried swapping the USB ports on the player, sometimes it will detect my HDD and sometimes it will not....very frustrating! I tried my HDD with other media players & it works FINE...so meaning nothing is wrong with my HDD! 2) The player's audio playback is faulty...when i play mp3 files, watch youtube videos & certain movies, the audio will disappear for a few seconds and come back...this happens repeatedly throughout the whole video/mp3 playback...I set the audio setting to RAW, LPCM, LPCM Multi Ch & Auto but still the same problem happens. I took the player back to the dealer & complained. They gave me a replacement set & they upgraded the firmware to the latest version (1.0.0.26)...BUT i'm STILL having the same problems as above. PLEASE HELP!!! |

I am thinking of getting Himedia 600A but now I see 900A which is Rm100 difference. I don't really need the 3D now but the 750Mhz is very good.
My only concern now is whether the 900A firmware very problematic? What I really need now is being able to play blueray iso with DTS-MA or Dolby True HD passthru. Is 900A so far ok in this area? |

Don't really need full BD menu. Bd 1.0 and lite is fine. But HD audio passthru is a must because I am getting a new receiver with HD audio.
But 900A is only Rm100 more and its hot faster cpu and ram. This post has been edited by lightning69: Nov 8 2011, 08:23 PM |

Got my 900A yesterday. I am very surprise how good this player is.
I manage to get DTS-HD and DolbyTrueHD working on my receiver. There is still bugs with multi-channel LPCM. I got 2 BDMV with multi-channel LPCM and both play but with continous poping sound on one of the surround speaker. then I stop the playback but then navigating the menu also got the poping sound. Picture quality is just as good or better than my WDTV Live. What Home menu is decent but navigating the movies, music etc is not as good. Its too complicated. So far a very good player for the price. Haven't try out other features yet. |

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Dec 8 2011, 11:46 AM) i got a realtek 1055 player even though i have 3D TV but dont have 3D contents... You don't need 1186 to playback 3d on your TV. 1186 is for playback of 3D movies BDMV. worth to do any upgrade from 1055 to 1186 (HD900a) ? For SBS mkv, you can still playback with your 1055. When you playback SBS mkv, you will see 2 image sbs on your 3d tv and then just just enable sbs 3d on your tv and you can see the 3D. |

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Dec 8 2011, 01:33 PM) u means the media player itself will able to do the conversion from 2D to 3D? Normal media player can play sbs 3D mkv. No need to convert to 3D. The image will appear as 2 image sbs on the screen. It's the 3D tv that will conversion.but i read around about 900, it require 3D TV along too if no remember wrong... |

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Dec 9 2011, 01:59 PM) thought DTS 5.1 and 7.1 channel should be digital signalling and why downmix required? What he is saying is that if you have mkv with dolbyTrue-HD audio stream but you do not have a receiver that supports it, then their will be no sound as the HiMedia cannot downmix it to stereo.unless downmix to stereo then is understandable as the differences of digital and analog... |

I have Eagles Farewell 1 tour which is 2hr 45mins running time and the DTS-HD audio alone is 6GB. The whole mkv is 18GB.
Added on December 9, 2011, 6:35 pm QUOTE(ccs221 @ Dec 9 2011, 12:04 AM) u try turn off the 24P setting, see still got poping sound or not... I did try that but still the same so its firmware problem. Just discover another firmware problem. Victoria Secret 2011 .ts file format cannot playback. It actually can play but the picture is completely mess up...audio is ok. Any fixed soon? After using the HiMedia 900A for a week, I feel that the firmware need some work. There are a few types media it won't play proper like ts and mov files from my canon camera which play fine on my WDTV Live. So I guess I still can't sell of my WDTV Live as it still the best in term of format compatiblity.

QUOTE(ccs221 @ Dec 13 2011, 12:13 AM) 1186 player still got many bug nid fix de (coz only launch 1 month+) , if no nid 3D, now choose 1185 player is more stable n better de Hopefully the firmware will be better in times. I still prefer the 900A because of the 750mhz chipset. now got 1 beta firmware for hd900 player, maybe can test de: http://bbs.himedia.com.au/index.php?topic=701.0 Anyway, its still a great player. Just need more time to mature. Can you let the HiMedia team know the bugs I reported like mov files taken from Canon Dslr shutter badly and ts file won't playback properly. |

Anyone else having problem with the HiMedia 900A? Mine is dead after less than 2 weeks of light duty. Quite disappointed with it. Going back to my WDTV Live and I notice that the WDTV Live is still so much faster as compare to the 1186 realtek chipset. Navigating the menu on the old WDTV Live feels a lot faster although the processor is much slower. Hmmm...what is wrong with this 1186 chipset? Ane more thing is that the HIMedia could not playback many files for eg. the mov files from my Canon Dslr camera, ts files while they play flawlessly on the WDTV Live. |

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Dec 30 2011, 10:18 PM) but thought the video experiences is the most important for each chipset? But but my old WDTV LIVE already can playback all the highest bitrate BD files thrown at it. The reason I go for the 900A is because I wanted to try out the master audio thing.bcos bigger video file size and required better processor to read the file efficiencent, otherwise the video experience will be bad due to the bottle neck... seem like u comparing iOS and Android as iOS have smoother user interface but not for Android... but still Android still the famous OS due to his compatibility on different handphone and software... anyway, i look on AC Ryan HD2 Mini (1185DD+) too... wondering is it worth to go for it if compare to Himedia 900A (1186DD+)... Added on January 1, 2012, 11:48 amWhat about canon Dlsr movie files. It still lags like hell. Still cannot playback .ts !!! All this playback smooth on my old WDTV LIVE. QUOTE(gkl83 @ Jan 1 2012, 04:02 PM) Tested all different type of TS file yet such as movie file? Yah..i know what you mean. This realtek 1186 chipset still very problematic now and until they fix most of the problem with driver updates, you are better of with more matured player.bcos i tried to play 1.5gb @ 6min and 40gb @ 120min,no issues on my Realtek 1055 chipset. But i got a problem on 1 TS file that imbalance volume on left and right speaker if the audio output as LPCM,updated firmware no improvement as well.at last i try change audio ouput as RAW and solved the problem. Anyway, each video file got it own video format,i tried to rip a VCD into AVI file with high compressed video format but my R1055 cant read it.later i change to other video format but still AVI file,no issues to play. What i means here that the canon camera or other devices have it own standard which doesnt compatible with realtek chipset. I hardly have any problem with my media files with my old media player and then I upgrade to 900A only to run into all these problems. So for those who are looking to upgrade, you might want to wait till the firmware improves. |

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Jan 2 2012, 01:25 PM) so you means go for those older 1185 chipset instead? I haven't try those updates yet because I am currently away from home. However those fixes listed did not address any of the problem I encounter. bcos i worry is due to chipset issues but wasn't the firmware and also dilemma with you... anyway, did u do the upgrade firmware based on the website source i provided? any improvement with new firmware? I believe its a firmware issue and not the chipset. It should get better but for now the 1185 should be better as most of the bugs have been iron out. |

QUOTE(gkl83 @ Jan 2 2012, 01:42 PM) perhaps try update 1st with latest as 1186 firmware may fine tuned which ur problems just a tiny issues for them to post out the improvement... 1186 supports 3D BDMV, but you can still playback 3D contents using the 1185 and even the WDTV Live. Those SBS mkv can all be playback on most media player. My brother is using the WDTV Live for all his 3D SBS movies on his LG cinema 3D LED TV.but 1185 doesnt support 3D but i got 3D TV here... but seem a bit waist... perhaps i still can run the 3D source on 1185? but i assign my 3D TV will do the regeneration of 3D sources for top-down or left-right... so is it possible? Point is you don't need 1186 to enjoy 3D. |
