Does anyone have a spare HiMedia remote they want to sell? I have an old HiMedia 600F that works but the remote is a bit wonky and I can't get a replacement. Looks something like the one below. http://telkomputer.com/image/cache/data/HD...00f-640x480.jpg

I bought the Himedia H8 to stream TV and to play my HD movies on hard disks. Previously used a Minix and out of the box, my HD movies played fine using XMBC. Menu navigation within XBMC was also smooth. On the H8 however, with Kodi Isengard, some movies stuttered whilst playing. It'll play fine but every 5 seconds or so the video would stutter for a second and resume. Bear in mind this is played from a hard disk and not streamed. I've tried enabling the different types of hardware acceleration within Kodi but the problem still persists. Anyone else face this problem?

Anyone else face this problem? if u mean playback with kodi, it is a known issue. for himedia players, recommended u playback with native player which is far superior to kodi player, incl pass thru hd audio. but if want it via kodi to get all the extra pics, etc., that's something else - may need to root, etc. why not check with yr seller? In addition, you can force KODI to use external players on android instead of its default player ( How-To). It involves creating an xml file and saved in your userdata folder. Try looking into that. Should work for local files & possibly streaming videos as well. KODI & Minix FTW! Sorry, just had to... This post has been edited by voncrane: Oct 19 2015, 07:57 PM

I'm a Minix fan too, unfortunately there's no 4k@60hz support in Minix. The Himedia H8 has it.

Seeing as I don't have or intend getting a 4K TV anytime soon, plus no much 4K content out there as yet anyway... I overlooked such. I'm giving 4K tech about 5 more years to develop both hardware and software, by then, better boxes and TVs will be produced... Did the external player tweak work?

Get a hold of an older apk file, might work. Alternatively, just use a different browser for now till another update. Factory reset should be a last resort.

Omg from yr description, i am quite sure there was recently a firmware update, either manual or auto-online. after firmware update, you must do a manual google patch update to get google-playstore-chrome-gmail-youtube working properly. this is because china manufacturer firmwares do not cater to google stuff as it is banned in china. u need to get hold of the right version google patch from your seller, install it. The only way I could fast forward is to turn on mouse mode using the remote, then move the mouse pointer to the video progress bar and position it to the point i want and click on it. Seems no way to enter a time period to fast forward to.
