Hi. I'm not a 4mb (or any other type of streamyx) user yet but I'm seriously considering but I may not subscribe in the end, after all. cry.gif

So here's the story:
I went to TMPoint this afternoon to check if I could get the 4mb service but was told that they can't tell unless the contractor/installer/technician go over to my place and test it out. It's no big deal except that my unit (and the rest in the building) don't have the phone hub installed i.e. no phone cable that goes inside the unit. To get a phone service we all need to get the contractor/installer/technician to connect the cable from the hallway/corridor into our units (I don't know if this is the way to describe it) and, of course, pay for it.
This is where I can't decide. I really wanted to get the 4mb package but the only way to even know if I could get it is to pay for the wiring of phone line, which would've be fine except that I'd managed to get the contractor to come over to my place to have a look before I even sign up anything and the price he quoted for me was more than 200. So if I decided to go through it all and only to find out that I could only get 1mb service I'd be so frustrated.
BTW, I asked the contractor/installer/technician if he had installed any 4mb package in the building and he said no, which means he also don't know if we (those who live in the building) can get the 4mb service.doh.gif

4mbps,doesn't have any quota volume.
galacticdraco,it all depends on port availability.
Also your copper line age/SNR margin and stuff
You can check and see how it is

I guess I need to go to TM Point and ask again...
When I asked yesterday the guy at TM Point told me that they can't check from the office...
The copper line age shouldn't be a problem, it's a building of less than 10 years, probably 7...
The other stuff I don't know...

I was wondering, can I ask the people in TM Point to check using my neighbour's number?
They still can't tell for sure if my own line (if and after I applied) can support 4Mbps but at least they can tell me if the service is possible in my area, right?

KL/Selangor already migrated to ICarePrime so it's easier to check.
Actually I can check for other area as well but I prefer nt to do tat much ,its troublesome cos I need to submit and cancel. Most ppl really wan to check only.

Wow i was wondering how to get the tmnet guy cap it to 6mb or 8mb?
I see that mx510's torrentflux post were capped at 8mb which previously is 4mb

Was it even possible to add money to them so i can get a higher capped speed ?LOOL

Any ADSL 2+ modem will do... smile.gif
There's no different from 1Mbps even 384Kbps modem also can run 4Mbps easily...
ADSL 2+ modem can support up to 24Mbps for download.. But that's not happen here where ADSL technology will just "limited" to 4Mbps...
