Hi. I'm not a 4mb (or any other type of streamyx) user yet but I'm seriously considering but I may not subscribe in the end, after all. cry.gif

So here's the story:
I went to TMPoint this afternoon to check if I could get the 4mb service but was told that they can't tell unless the contractor/installer/technician go over to my place and test it out. It's no big deal except that my unit (and the rest in the building) don't have the phone hub installed i.e. no phone cable that goes inside the unit. To get a phone service we all need to get the contractor/installer/technician to connect the cable from the hallway/corridor into our units (I don't know if this is the way to describe it) and, of course, pay for it.
This is where I can't decide. I really wanted to get the 4mb package but the only way to even know if I could get it is to pay for the wiring of phone line, which would've be fine except that I'd managed to get the contractor to come over to my place to have a look before I even sign up anything and the price he quoted for me was more than 200. So if I decided to go through it all and only to find out that I could only get 1mb service I'd be so frustrated.
BTW, I asked the contractor/installer/technician if he had installed any 4mb package in the building and he said no, which means he also don't know if we (those who live in the building) can get the 4mb service.doh.gif

I guess I need to go to TM Point and ask again...
When I asked yesterday the guy at TM Point told me that they can't check from the office...
The copper line age shouldn't be a problem, it's a building of less than 10 years, probably 7...
The other stuff I don't know...

It's ok, then u hv to apply phone line after tat only u wil b able to knw whether ur area can 4Mb coverage.

I was wondering, can I ask the people in TM Point to check using my neighbour's number?
They still can't tell for sure if my own line (if and after I applied) can support 4Mbps but at least they can tell me if the service is possible in my area, right?

Back as an 4Mbps user now. Thank you Ah Cheap.
I did the speedtest several times with a cap of 4096, the result came back pretty consistant.
3.53/0.43Mbps.
Nothing wrong right?
The ping result varied a bit though, reading from 56 to 109ms.

Edit: Though the speedtest result was consistant, it doesn't feel all that much of an upgrade. Hope that it get better.

I don't think we could adjust the cap on our own. Or else everyone would've removed the cap altogether. tongue.gif
I asked the installer if I could get a cap of 5M too and he said it he could do it but the line wouldn't be as stable. So I just let it be for now. If 4096 isn't too bad then I wouldn't mind so much.

Say, I'm supposed to get a multimedia confirmation slip and use it to get my cordless phone, right?
But I only get a service acceptance form, are they the same?

Came with the Streamyx in a box was DLink WIRELESS G ADSL2+ 4-PORT ROUTER DSL-2640B and I have a TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem Router TD-W8960N. Which one should I use?
The speed still hasn't pick up yet.
