oh i forget see histogram  sweat.gif
i just see the meter in viewfinder ...adjust it to exact middle then shoot ><
D70s LCD is 0, monitor is err... duno... office monitor got problem with black and white saturation so i not really can see  the 8 levels of white if you show the chart of whiteness. ><

anyway i just discover the flickr got Piknik edit feature  rclxm9.gif  maybe try edit from there again see...

depending on situation or what kind of shot/effect you want take, histogram and metering may not be always correct, its meant to be used as a referenced.
Example: If the background is very bright, you subject/object is in front of the bright background: in this case, you have to adjust your EV for your 'preferred' metering to achive the result you want, either you want to expose the subjec/tobject properly or darken your object/subject or whatever effect you're looking for.

If you're on manual, you don't need to dial in EV as you're in manual mode, but dialing in EV can help your metering, but then you need to remember to reset back the metering else the next shot your metering will be not accurate.

Speaking about the Spyder3Express, it is worth grabbing one? I'm thinking to get one to calibrate my monitors at home.

up to you. for me, I'm doing web design / graphic design / photography.

as you can see, all areas place importance on colors.

some work are send for print - with calibration done, at least I have less avenue of problem........... or at least prints cannot blame me for anything. biggrin.gif

ya i got same situation before, because i using desktop in ex-company then my boss complain the photo i edit got noise then ya, his pc is laptop so of course the colour is better than my monitor.  doh.gif

next time interview wan request geng geng monitor if do designing work.
hehe yeah. kena before, my was opposite. design nicely liao no problem but cos client computer using lesser LCD quality, end up can see weird coloration on certain shades.

it's good to fine-tune as best as you can for monitor. even TN panel is fine la, just tune them.

I mean is the Spyder Express sufficient? Or the higher end would be more accurate in terms of calibration?

Think I'll order one from yamiya.. or any retail shops selling them? Trying looking in garage sales but like nobody selling sad.gif

i find it sufficient. smile.gif decide based on your monitor vs cost vs importance of color accuracy to you.

i roughly compared my both lcd, office and home LCD, office one of course sucks because i go to http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/white.php i saw "200" only meanwhile my personal can see 8 levels of white saturation.  doh.gif

now back to the camera LCD, found out the colour is a bit contrast/ saturation compare to my monitor. so should i adjust my camera LCD to -2? default is 0.

I've been wondering bout this question for sometime. How to check whether your monitor is good enough? I'm using Samsung SynMaster B2030, from the link given I can see up to 250. Good enough? rclxub.gif

cheap and simple solution (maybe)?
Print out the photos, is the result similar to the one you see on your monitor when you PP?
Maybe you monitor very bright and saturated, so your PP time you tuned it down, the print out... Eh??? Or vice versa or other conditions.

any comments from anyone? especially those with tons of experience printing photos from different places.

I've only printed out 3 photos from my camera, and it looks quite good (colour and exposure is just what I wanted), but didn't compare with my LCD, so can'te be sure.

Think I need to print out more photos like what Jim Liaw say, 'PRINT OUT YOUR PHOTOS!' sweat.gif

you bring PRINT into the equation then susah liao.

different printer use different machine with different ink quality, and gone through different maintenance and also using different print paper.
