Since this year onward is single parent. I plan to withdraw my portion and my spouse will continue to put in 8k. But I heard that the net calculation is for both parent. Anyone hears this?

I never heard or read postings here before regarding what you heard, "that the net calculation is for both parent".Each parent will hv separate account number linked to the same kid, if each parent opened their own account for the same kid. Discussed before with understandings is, "EITHER" 1 parent can claim for each year only. What you heard could be something new and latest info which we had not discussed before. Do you hv the source to it? This post has been edited by MUM: Oct 31 2025, 06:16 PM |

I got this information from ptptn officer when I wanted to withdrawal my portion. She warn me that this will have effect on my spouse tax relief. My spouse need to top up the amount that i has withdraw as the net saving is calculated on both parent. I planned to stop sspn for this year and withdraw everything. Not sure how true is this information. Each parent will hv separate account number linked to the same kid, if each parent opened their own account for the same kid. Not sure how true is this information. Thanks for the info.WOW! From the ptptn offficer. I will definitely explore more about that, but in the meantime, I would still stick to "either 1". If husband and wife file separate tax filing But if they file as combine, then, I believes it is as what that officer said Caveat emptor, ..if want to follow me. Hopefully someone here that has the latest clear and confirmed sure info can answer your concerns. info as per image from https://www.ptptn.gov.my/PelepasanTaksiranCukai/ This post has been edited by MUM: Oct 31 2025, 07:51 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Almost to the tail end of the year and it looks like for the first time, keeping money in sspn is better than taking out & investing in a bond fund. Sigh
Thinking of skipping the hassle of withdrawing and putting it in like I do every year. ![]() This post has been edited by Avangelice: Nov 4 2025, 09:24 AM |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Oct 31 2025, 07:45 PM) My wife withdrew everything from her account recently and the officer didn't say anything (Amcorp Mall branch). Maybe this will only apply if you have joint assessment? My take is that LHDN is not savvy enough to be able to monitor both husband and wife's account to be able to link the SSPN withdrawals/deposits. Just like how you can claim 100% child allowances on both wife and husbands' names if assessed separately (not that I do). I've been fiddling around with my tax account and it's a shame that you can't see in real time the amount of SSPN deduction you can take for the year. Looks like I'll just take the plunge and do the full withdrawal and alternative year top-up between husband/wife accounts and see what happens. |
