I cancelled my Maybank CC via phone call only. But noted here, I already cleared all outstanding bills before canceling that card.

But for PB whatever cards, must proceed at counter.

I like Maybank so much!!! Fast response & Convenient & Reliable.

Man... Hong Leong again... tell them you are earning below RM36,001/pa and need to cancel their credit card by the end of this month. A statement release by BNM clearly states that you must cancel it by the end of the month and must clear the outstanding balance in the next 24-month. Try to talk to them again.

I've cancelled my HLB classic card thru the bank counter on 23 Dec 2011. The officer said that I have to wait about 7 days to get the process done.

But me being impatient, called the Card centre on 27 Dec 2011 and ask about my release letter, the officer on the phone said that within 7 days, someone from the card centre will call me and try to convince me to continue being a HLB customer...

Funny thing is that they made no attempt to renew the expired card on 2009 but i guess it's my fault then for not being a good paymaster... Like people say, It's nothing personal, It's just good bussiness... haha!

Hi pips, i have a noobie question..
I cancel my AM Bank Carz CC today. I was charged RM50 for the process. I havent put my signature on the card; and i got my card last friday.
Reason was HSBC offered better credit limit than AMB. The bank officer said once the card is approved, they gona charge RM50 when u decide to cancel the card. Isit true?
Thank u

For any reasons that the bank want to charge you then ASK THEM why they want to charge you and what is the charge! It is a simple process that is now lost among the new young generation.

And please take note the government tax of RM50 is chargeable the moment your card is approved (and charged on an annual basis). You have to pay even though you cancel the card. Generally, banks do not pay or waive this tax for you.

Unfortunately, the government tax is actually imposed by the government, not the bank and all banks do charged this tax upon card approval.

How is that a nonsense ? At least they are offering you a cash incentive to pay for the credit card tax. Many other banks such as Maybank and CIMB Bank don't offer such deal. Besides, with everything so expensive now, it couldn't be any easier to spend RM350 in two months. Just use your card at all the places that accept credit card. We all do that biggrin.gif

If you cant use RM350 in 2 month, then help someone like frens/family pay for their bill, then they pay you cash... brows.gif

I rather pay RM50 than to pay addtional RM300 or maybe more just to get that refund. They might issue other charges..
I can get better cash back with my UOB card than AMB.
2% cash back and is subject to minimum amount blocks is no good compared to UOB.
