i think a more straight forward way will be:

1. If you can, pay the Statement Amount every month. So, you will not owe the bank any $$$.

2. Pay the minimum amount. But, the consequence will be no interest free for all your transaction. The interest will be calculated once it's posted/transacted (i'm not sure which one). This could burn a hole in your pocket. So, option 1 is always my preference and if i can't afford then i will stop charging to my CC.

Yes, just give them a call when your charges have posted in your account. Normally, it takes 2 - 3 business days and they will call you if it's not approved. If they didn't call you, then it meant your request is approved by CIMB.

collected my card and used it to pay for education fee... according to CS, I have to wait until the payment shown in my account then only can request to convert it to 0% Smart Flexi Plan... but, from their reply seems like as long as it's a genuine case, then the conversion should be no problem...

Good... at least don't have to pay the big amount a lump sum smile.gif

Just a quick update on this. CIMB converted my education charge to Smart Flexi Plan (0% 10 month plan) on the day i had requested it. Didn't expect they're so efficient smile.gif

So, in summary, as long as the case is genuine, then you should have no problem to convert it.

Just used my DA at KFC (Tesco Puchong) to get a measly 5% discount from the bill.

for installment plan, better find a merchant that offer 0% plan. i think most of the local bank cimb, mbb or pbb do offer that.

Usually these merchants are expensive.

I go for 2% 10 months installment on CIMB DA, can convert any cheap purchase from any merchant. tongue.gif rclxms.gif

Please get your fact right.
You are not talking about Easy Installment, you are referring to conversion of your normal purchase to Easy Installment plan. All banks charge a percentage for this conversion if they do offer this program. The conversion is independent of whatever card you are holding ... it is valid so long you are a valid cardholder.

Some people 0.5% already make noise and this is not a matter whether the interest is cheap or not. We over here do not encourage people to build their debt using credit card as this will lead to spending beyond their limit. Have money, pay all.

Bolded part, yes thanks for clarifying, thats what I was asking.

I just wanted to know is there any (gold)cards you guys come across that offer less than the 2% (10months installment) that CIMB currently offers?
