mr. azarimy I have a question to ask, I'm currently in my 1st studying BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology in UCSI, I'm planning to transfer to other school/ university. Is it possible for me transfer to IPTA?
*
u need to acquire LAM part 1 first before u continue. if not, u will have to join the IPTA at part 1 level, normally for the final year (3rd year).

ok thanks!

according to um's requirement, there's a "#" symbol for architecture which means it has a interview. but that's according to their website.

Im a matric student, just being called for the interview. in oine week, anything i can do to get significant chance in the interview? I had failed one time last year getting the diploma. still have the trauma, really wanna join the field ><

i see portfolio plays a quite important role. what do interviewers normally wanna look for in our portfolio?

And if, i mean if i fail the interview, will i still be offered to interview ( or maybe a direct intake) for architecture in other u that i apply, for example um?

This is quote from mr azaraimy:

"normally questions would revolve around:

+ why architecture and why not something else
+ the motivation to do it
+ inspirations (be it a person, a building, something u read etc)
+ why do u think u're good enough
+ why this university

and so on.

then there's another part of the interview which will explore ur problem solving skills. nothing too fancy. if u've done some IQ tests, u'd do just fine.".

i suggest you go to his website www.tanggam.com. there's plenty of useful and relevant information about architecture in the website. take some initiatives to read up the forums in that website.

refer to what stamp has posted above.

they wanna see best works so far, as well as progress. some people progress very well in the last 5-6 months before the interviews, where although the best work is less impressive, the progress will be taken into consideration as well.

it's not limited to artworks. it can be photography, mural, comics, logo design, publications, sculptures, landscape design, interior design and so on.

u will be called for the interviews by ALL schools who would offer u. which means u might pass more than one interview. in such case, u will only receive offer from the highest school on ur preference list. for example:

u apply to UTM, UM, UIA, USM and UPM.
u get called by UTM, UM and UPM.
u passed interviews from UM and UPM, but failed UTM.

so UPU will forward to u UM's offer. simple enough?

Anyone here from lim kok wing? Few weeks ago i've posted here and considered about going to UCSI for my first degree. I enquired about the fees in LKW and its much cheaper than UCSI. But I've heard so many negative remarks about lkw and most are about "walao a lot of blackies" and "lecturers dont teach" etc etc but nothing about their architecture. Honestly, how good is their architecture?

honestly not good, youll regret studying there, UCSI is much more better comparing to LKW..

just because you see an ads of LKW saying that they are a "design" university doesnt mean it really producing one.

yeah seriously man, I heard so many negative stuff about LKW, I did consider heading there once. But i really wonder though cause some of my friend's work are really impressive. Their only complaints was the bad management. So speaking in terms of education for architecture, what so bad about LKW really? I'm curious.

edit: I see that you're working hard to prepare for the architectural workshop, PADI. I wish you good luck for it. Hope its all good. Have fun thumbup.gif

portfolios are depending on your own works maybe he is just talented, i also heard it from others, but for me better go somewhere else that at least doesnt have any bad rumors about it, you just dont wanna risk that much, its your own educations and it is up to you.. reputation is everything especially in the eyes of employer

funding came from several sources. primary sources are the main sponsors, which was Nippon Paint. others include UTM HEMA (hal ehwal mahasiswa), PAM and the student body's (architech) own resources. then comes the minor sponsors like food, materials, printings and stuffs.

the point here is, dont expect to get a lot of money from the sponsors. so what we did was to ask a lot (and i mean a hell lot) of materials. which is why during terang u can see a lot of nippon paint, canvas, kayu2 for structures and a bunch of other stuffs.
