I was in fact graduated from Uni in 2009, after that i worked as an admin officer at a security firm, and they offered me 2k salary with company car and accommodation. i left after half a year and join a clinical lab. they offered me 1.6k, a serious pullback but i was encouraged by family to work at the sector that i can perform, and for some better prospect. 6 months later, i got an invitation from my uni coursemate that his workplace (hospital lab) was hiring, i tried my luck and got the offer. i switched immediately and this is where i'm working at now. 2 month later i'll be reviewed by my boss for a not-so-attractive increment (probably less than a hundred according to my seniors). Now I'm seriously doubt if i'd made the right decision 2 yrs back. I somehow see my future's dim if i stick to lab job. 2.3k pay after 2 yrs graduation is certainly shameful. any comment or positive advise i may get from you guys? i'm so disappointed to the current situation of bio-related job in malaysia. cry.gif

Have u considered working in SG? Lab Tech starting pay is around S$2000 (RM4800) but of course u need to factor in the cost of living.

this depends how u sell urself during interview session...and most importantly is, if u go big company, should not be a problem...but small company dont think u can increase so much unless u r a specialist!

sawmill can operate as long as you got logs supply.

for me, sawmill is more "stable" but cannot gives high return as logging (timber extraction) side.

for example, logging supervisor can get around rm11k. when not in rain season can get up to rm18k depends on production.
for sawmill, only manager/asst manager got that figure.

*i mean supervisor for all operation matter. NOT the supervisor for 1 department only.

yes. Here also got offer to buy our sawmill sawdust for rm70-80/ton.
Price lower maybe because our sawmill located deep in the forest (180km to city).

*they use sawdust it to make charcoal for Europe market.

A very good thread to read and by reading this, all workforces have better idea how much effort to be put in order to get better pay.

But, I wonder moderator can make the Lets talk salary into sub-categories, like IT, Business, etc. And, IT can be sub-categorized into Software Engineer, Software Architect, ERPs (can be Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, JDEwards, etc) ...

I strongly believe that by sub-categorizing the "Lets talk salary" we can have better information and fast.
