Sound expensive. My price during 2011 was about 5.50 PSF for 2x2, and 4.5 PSF for smaller tiles. All exclude tiles. Include waterproofing in washroom.

QUOTE(Diablo143 @ Aug 3 2013, 06:24 AM) Hi All, Hi All,I got the below quotation to do some tiling work for kitchen and outdoor terrace tiling. Based on what I've in forum, pricing below per Sqft is very expensive (assuming my calculation is correct). I've have not asked yet but I assume the price should include labour, cement, new tiles, hacking and removing old tiles. Kitchen is using 300x300mm White Horse ceramic tiles and outdoor terrace using 300x300mm White Horse homogeneous tiles. Please advice on this quote price. Thanks. Install Tiles - Kitchen Area Wall & Floor - 81 Sqft 1,377.00 (1377 / 81 = RM17 per Sqft) - Wall Area 33'W x 5'H - 165 Sqft 2,805.00 (2805 / 165 = RM17 per Sqft) Extend Tiles Outdoor 5' x 3.5'H - 17.5 Sqft 600.00 (600 / 17.5 = RM34 per Sqft) Any comment on this? Thanks. |

QUOTE(sovietmah @ Jun 14 2013, 11:32 AM) One square meter is 10.7 square feet (according to google la https://www.google.com.my/search?num=100&si...hp.zx12-udN8wA) Hi dear. Very informative! So RM96/10.7, means bout RM9 Per square feet. As I know, tiling (chinese) per sq is bout Rm2.5, Indo is about RM1.5 per sq. So your tile price stay at RM9 minus RM2.5 = RM7.5 per square feet. Which I think very expensive. because one good 1x2 tiles cost bout RM7, even old batch cost bout RM5.5-Rm6. So for ur contractor, to lay 1x2 tiles, it cost u about RM9x2 = RM18. I think standard price is bout RM2.5 x 2 (2 square feet) + RM7 (1x2 tile) = RM12. so means he might be earning extra RM6 on each 2 square feet on top of what he supposely to earned. You try to ask him to quote you a price without tiles. It is better you go to buy the tiles urself, normal contractor they wont buy big batch like 10K pieces, so the price wont be cheaper. The tiles price is about same if u go to buy comparing ur contractor go to buy. White Horse / Alpha / MML tiles u go to buy at their showroom / factory, Feruni can buy at showroom or during homedec (OCT 2013). Most of the companies include shipping, you not need worry bout transportation. Don't forget he can quote u workmanship + tiles and then give u cheap quality china tiles (Although got high end china tiles). Does the tiling work done by chinese workers which cost RM2.5psf include sand, cement and susu, only exclude tiles? |

Hi guys, I would appreciate any sort of help here. I am 25 and planning on buying my very first property for my family and I to stay. Here is one of the options I'm considering at the moment. Basically the land is about 5000sq ft and there is an old house, tenanted at the moment. The house is small, about 1500sq ft. I plan to do the following reno:
1) Ground leveling for a slope in front including a retaining wall. (the slope is about 500sq ft, 10ft tall) 2) Knock down the walls and to increase floor space and build new walls. (from 1500sq ft to about 2000sq ft) 3) Floor tiling for the whole house. Currently it is cement. 4) Tiled kitchen top, basin etc. (my mom likes the old school concrete and tiled type) 5) Floor+wall tiling, change toilet, sink and shower head for 2 bathrooms. 6) Add another bathroom. 7) Autogate and concrete to cover the drain (2 ft x 60 ft drain) 8) Plumbing and 3phase wiring. 9) Paint the whole house. Currently, the plumbing and wiring is all functional. The roof is also in good condition. Just planning to paint the roof tiles as well. I am going for basic but good quality materials in terms of tiles and finishing. The idea is to have a spacious house with a good layout like how they used to build em in the good old 70's and 80's. I would appreciate any kind of price estimation or advise for the works mentioned above. All without furnishing. Thank you very much and have a nice day. |

Dear All,
My contractor quoted me as below:' Install cement table top only (without cabinet) with tiles 1x2 at 2' x 4' sqft Install tile 1x2 at the wall of above the table top at 6' x 4' sqft Relocate , make 2 holes (water in from tap and water out to yard and install a water tap n copper pipe from yard to kitchen around 6'ft for washing machine in kitchen All this is done at condo yard area. The contractor quoted me RM1800 but is it reasonable price? I feel like very expensive... This post has been edited by IiBbMm: Aug 12 2013, 02:46 PM |

If currently your condo does not have the concrete top, i think the price is reasonable if with tiles price included as well. A breakdown at the cost: Build concrete top = probably around RM400-500 work Lay tiles on concrete top = probably around RM200-300 work Lay tiles on wall = probably around RM300-400 work 2 Water outlet relocation = here if you ask plumber at least RM400-500 already with conceal work For my house, concrete top is 8.5 feet x 7.5 feet and contractor quote me RM600 (Without tiles, just cement and the structure) already. Sometimes if you build 4 feet concrete top price might same like 5 feet one. This post has been edited by sovietmah: Aug 12 2013, 02:57 PM |

White Horse, Niro, MML, which 1 is better in terms of quality and design and how to know the tiles selected by my contractor whether is grade 1 type? Thanks for advice. |

My house tiles popup this in the morning after a whole day raining on day before (guess the whole day raining make the room temperature change cause the pop-up)
After doing so much research online, most people recommend hack all the tiles on the whole area and redo it. But i was kind of worried the work cause my house so dusty, was thinking just to replace the pop-up part and also the tiles that I can feel "emptyness" when I step on it. Any bro sister got good contractor to recommend? Besides, I was also considering changing to laminate flooring. Any comment? Thanks. ![]() |
