Hi guys just wondering is it normal if the tiler charge me rm5 for normal tiling, rm6 for tiling with complicated design, all charge by per square feet. Cement and sand i provide to the tiler.

Is it on expensive side?
*
RM5 is psf basis???

Mine is RM3.5 for floor, RM3.2 for wall. Tile by my own and others by tiler.

If you means RM5 for just labour charges, then it is super too expensive.

Indo worker labour only is bout Rm1.1 psf
Chinese tiler labour bout RM2.5 psf
If chinese tiler labour + cement + susu about RM4.2-5.5 psf.

Just imagine your labour psf is RM5, cement, susu, sand already RM3-4, tiles per sq probably RM4-5.
Means if you want to do 1000sq then ur need to fork out RM15 x 1000 which is RM15000 already.
A OK price Rm8-9K can done ur RM15K work, why pay more if your quality is not align with the price.

What kind of tiles price range first.
if ur contractor set it RM15, then.

RM1.1 for hacking existing tiles psf
RM4-5 for laying the tiles psf and susu + sand
RM15/4 (because ur tiles is 2x2, so i /4 for easy calcuation) = RM3.75

TOTAL 1 square feet is RM 9.85-10.00
So 650 square feet is RM6500 then is reasonable.

If the contractor use his own indo worker for hacking and then probably some discount by the tiler,
so ur contractor markup the price bout 10-15% for earning.
Consider good liao.

** Above estimate based on ur 2 x 2 tiles is RM15 per piece **

Sorry, just saw ur statement, tiles buy by urself then it is slightly expensive for ur case.
But sometimes it is difficult to calculate because u wont know if your contractor do extra work for that area or not like lay a layer of cement after hacking existing tiles or not, etc.

lum sup Rm400 for store room is reasonable i think.
the area is small, and difficult to work. and then if you do more area it is cheaper if u calculate per sq one.
the susu i not sure how lowyat forumer defined it, but it is not those pure cement, only specialize for tile, or else if u use those panda cement, the tile will pill off in future.

Means, if you are laying a tiles, the lowest level if cement, but the layer that tiler put on the tiles before lay the tile on floor/wall is called susu.
probably got some english technical name for it but i not sure.

Lot of reasons the tiles will popup.
1. Susu not enough - Too much of water but less susu
2. Got wind - Most likely and common for wall tiles
3. Tiles quality - Rarely for floor tiles
4. Lower level of cement base

porcelain normally for floor.
ceramic tiles is for wall.

one way easy to diff both of them, porcelain tiles if one of the corner or area peel off, you still see the same material.
ceramic tiles the outer layer is color and design, if peel off then you will see ceramic.

Can choose porcelain but could be very expensive for wall.
ceramic wall tiles also easy to drill holes, so it might not crack easily if u want to install towel bar, mirror etc items.
because the ceramic is soft.
But better dun use ceramic for floor, especially car porch and common area.
coz easy to peel off one and once peel off then very obvious can see tio already.

Is ok for porcelain for wall, but not those 2x2 feet for wall.
normally the tiles will break after u drill it, and you probably need special driller.

1x2 porcelain tiles still OK for wall.
