Any recommended series for living rooms and car porch?
Prefer simple color and plain white/vanilla for floor and grey for car porch.

I have a question regarding tiles - not the installation process but where to find someone to buy my leftover tiles (as in unopened cartons) as i have just finished my renovation. Anyone has knowledge of this?
*
If that's not a lot then u should keep it for future use.
Just incase any tiles breaks later on.

How much would it cost if I would like to fully tile up the car porch area of 500 sq ft? labour + material + tiles?
*
I very depends on the current structure, if already got tiles, or already got stable base.
My contractor quote me bout 7-8K include white horse tiles, hacking, cut away the grass part, #A8 steel at bottom, and then cement plastering first, and final tiles on it.
I think my car porch about 20-25 feet long, 21-22 wide

I am no expert, but have a look at MML and Guocera range of tiles.
1) table top
- Use smooth tiles
- 2x2 will look nice, as there are less 'grooves' and have a cleaner look
- Homogenous is recommended for colour uniformity
*
I am going to use MML 2x2 homogenous tiles for my wet kitchen concrete top.
And Guocera 2x2 for my living room flooring.

any promotion right now?
*
Not sure bout promotion,
but i am using alsinea series, cheap series haha, bout RM2-3 per pieces. but i think the stripe looks nice.
The flooring tiles is very rough in surface, difficult to wash, but hardly fall down in step on it.
So I choose dark grey color.

i am planning buy 1 x 1 for store room floor & 2 x 2 (Black) for concrete table. Can recommend which one suitable?
*
Black one maybe u have to refer to china tiles, so far my contractor let me choose MY tiles, black one all i dun really like.

But i choose grey for my wet kitchen concrete top MML 60cm x 60cm homo tiles.
Light grey Alpha tiles 30cm x 60cm for my wet kitchen flooring
W53011 White 25cm x 33cm Alsinea (same like my bathroom one) (With very lighter grey stripe) for my wet kitchen wall tiles = The rest of wall tiles
W53006D Dark grey 25cm x 33cm Alsinea (same like my bathroom one) (With very darker grey stripe) for my wet kitchen wall tiles = Hood and Hob area only. bout 500mm wide.

so after done, it should be looks like somethg like this.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wwG4Axult4Y/T5eu...00/DSC_0608.jpg
But of course i am not using very small mozaic, but it is a 25cm x 33cm dark grey tiles (same like my bathroom one)

And then i bought the silver color Fotile hood,
and then dark black glass Fotile Hob 3 burner from builders hardware.

So silver hood match bit with the dark grey wall tiles,
lighter grey concrete tiles match with black hob, should looks cool hopefully.

Code refer here http://whitehorseceramic.com.au/alsinea-wall-floor.html

White Horse tiles pattern quite OK, but each tiles got different length, could be 1-2mm differences.
If you want very accurate length, maybe got to refer to italian brand.

If you get grade 2, lower grade or some term is Grade B it may have one or more defective e.g.

- Some area of the tiles surface are bloated / pregnant
- Tiles wrap
- Tiles are not cut symmetrical, you notice some are offset in one angle
- color inconsistence even in the same batch.
- Size inconsistence, even same box some can be bigger than other.

Basically these are manufacturing defective.
*
Ya true.
I noticed my white horse tiles bout 1mm diff in term of length or height.
Luckily the workmanship OK, after put the gap white powder now looks good for me.

If already stated Grade 2 or B, you won't get refund for the defective i mention unless the tiles break. Grade A, you can change need to ask the seller.

How do you check each piece of tile when you buying in hundred or thousands pieces?
*
No way to check before u purchase.
Same like when you are buying printer cartridge, buy first, try, problem then exchange.
You mostly can check after purchase, and refund those tiles that got major defects.
For corner break tiles you can utilize it to do skirting and cut into minor piece for cornering part.

Hi Guys, can i check roughly how much does it sum up for to replace tiling to broken marble for 2300 sq ft?
living in a condo so will the price differ?

sorry collecting all the information i can for a rough quotation smile.gif

thank you.
*
Not sure bout 2300 sq,
but my contractor did to my landed house, 22x70 (Build Up ground floor bout 22x50 i estimate).

-Quotation-
To demolish existing marble floor and cart away.
Construct cement rendering and lay with new floor tiles, skirting at living, dining and bedroom 4.
--

total damage 8.5K, Estimate each tiles about RM15 per pieces (2x2 feet tiles)
They cart away marble (living room) and floor tiles (kitchen) and then lay with proper cement first, and before put on the tiles with skirting everything.
He said even hack away those marble cost bout 1.5-2.0K just for hacking purpose.
Tiling is bout RM2.5 per sq, done by chinese, so far the workmanship looks OK for me.

I am NOT expert, but if use common sense,
If break down the cost:
Hacking : RM 2000
Tiling Work : 1100sq x RM2.5 = RM 2750
Tiles : 1100sq / 4 (2x2 feet so means bout 4sq) * RM15 per piece = RM 4125

If include cement, powder, i guess RM8.5K is reasonable for my case.
The 22x50 sq i roughly estimate, could be slighty lesser because I didn't do it for my wet kitchen.

True, the tiles price is exponential higher on size.
1x1 could be RM3 and 2x2 could be RM15 instead of RM12.

His estimation based on 1100 sqft, your is 2300.  Labour alone using his rate is about 9k for your condo. You need go see 2x2 tiles price range between 10-16 suite your taste. Labour cab be different, remember pay peanut get monkey.

Condo installation sometime can be higher because of more logistics work.

You have not factor hacking cost fit old tiles, disposal cost. And like I mention early skirting.

Got many more cost. I personally think you need 25k. 2300 is very big area.
*
Agreed with u, I don't think my house got such build up also now.

Would like to check with all sifu if price for below reasonable:

1. To supply and install new 300x600mm ceramic full high wall lies (till cost below rm3.5 psf) at 96 psm

2. To supply and install new 300x600 homo floor tiles to toilet, kitchen, porch and balcony floor are (tile cost below rm4 psf) at 105 psm

3. To supply and lay new 600x600 polished floor tiles at living area (tile cost rm18 per pcs) at 107.5 psm
Or should I buy my own tiles?
*
If you means above is the tile price, then is OK.
Standard pricing 1x2 feet is RM5-7
2x2 is bout Rm15-16 after promotion discount.
so your price i think reasonable, is that include tiles and the workmanship and hacking?

The quoted price is include tiles and workmanship but exclude remove existing tile (which he charge me a lump RM550 for living room, RM150 for kitchen)

and for item 1, he quoted me RM96 psm include tile and workmanship, Item 2 is RM105psm and Item 3 is RM107.5psm

Is this consider reasonable?

Thanks for your help.
*
One square meter is 10.7 square feet (according to google la https://www.google.com.my/search?num=100&si...hp.zx12-udN8wA)

So RM96/10.7, means bout RM9 Per square feet.
As I know, tiling (chinese) per sq is bout Rm2.5, Indo is about RM1.5 per sq.
So your tile price stay at RM9 minus RM2.5 = RM7.5 per square feet.
Which I think very expensive.
because one good 1x2 tiles cost bout RM7, even old batch cost bout RM5.5-Rm6.
So for ur contractor, to lay 1x2 tiles, it cost u about RM9x2 = RM18.
I think standard price is bout RM2.5 x 2 (2 square feet) + RM7 (1x2 tile) = RM12.
so means he might be earning extra RM6 on each 2 square feet on top of what he supposely to earned.

You try to ask him to quote you a price without tiles.
It is better you go to buy the tiles urself, normal contractor they wont buy big batch like 10K pieces, so the price wont be cheaper.
The tiles price is about same if u go to buy comparing ur contractor go to buy.
White Horse / Alpha / MML tiles u go to buy at their showroom / factory,
Feruni can buy at showroom or during homedec (OCT 2013).
Most of the companies include shipping, you not need worry bout transportation.

Don't forget he can quote u workmanship + tiles and then give u cheap quality china tiles (Although got high end china tiles).
