There's ip access firewall being activated. It blocks access from internal port or the range of 192.168.100.*

That's the reason you are able to access to web/ssh for a sec and it gets blocked.

I wonder does anyone have fiber switch? Perhaps we can access from another interface? or has anyone opened up this Huawei modem and look for terminal access?

Opening up the Huawei modem is a risk. That is TM property. Its covered with lifetime warranty from TM. Anything happens to it, the owner is liable legal actions.

I mainly download via QVOD software from China's sites. Currently using streamyx 1MB. Slow but acceptable.
Wonder whether QVOD download will work with unifi as I am thinking of signing up for VIP5 before the offer end this march 2011.

You mean faster than streamyx but speed not very fast as expected of a broadband? What about P1 wimax? That is my second choice. Will the speed better than unifi for such movies download or P1 also cap the speed.

Thanks.

Add me, VIP 10. I'm thinking of upgrading/downgrading to biz 5. worth it?
*
Can you downgrade / upgrade to BIZ packages since you're from residential packages? I emailed TM few weeks ago and they say we can only upgrade to higher residential packages (no cross upgrade available). If there's any new update about this regulation, please let me know.

P1 is very dependent on area. At some area, they're very fast. At some area, you'll probably throw the modem away.

I think I easily hit above the 15GB for P1 wiggy and probably exceed 30GB of home pro package since I download movie everyday. I understand P1 has 1 yr contract for home packages.
Maybe unifi control the total usage via capping the download speed since TM hasn't introduce their fair usage capping.
You guys think I should just stick with 1MB streamyx or upgrade to unifi VIP5 if I mainly use the net for download?

few reason:
1. my area has very high lightning strike, since I stayed there from 2005 till now, lightning has burn 5 wifi router, 1 PC motherboard, 2 lightning power arrester. Just only last week it blow the fuse of my 'CAL-LAB' lightning arrester. I understand fibre optic has less change of getting lightning strike. hmm.gif smile.gif

2. Even if lightning don't strike my house, the streamyx service in area are down once a month. Probably their junction box got strike by lightning. sad.gif

3. I don't know about unifi, the streamyx service in my area the speed are also erratic, sometime can't login at all (ie can't go to google). I suspect some one stealing the line bandwidth. A neighbour was offer by a contractor doing the streamyx to tap into some else streamyx line buy just paying RM300 one time, no monthly fee for life. cool2.gif

note: I live on landed property.

streamyx will have a cap implemented soon/eventually,so there's no reason not to upgrade to UniFi.

does anyone know what is the length of the fibre optic cable that is included with the free $200 installation (ie. from the box to the tv). at my place the box is at the back of the house and my tv is way in front of the house.
Just to make sure the contractor don't try to charge me by saying the distance exceed the approve cable lenght.
Just like installing astro, the contractor claim there is a maximum length is free and additional charges if the length exceeded.

Internal fibre length given is max 15m.

From the box to TV don't use fibre already. (if not mistaken, I am on Biz, no IPTV)

Once reach your BTU, fibre ended.

You can easily access the D-Link router to do all the necessary config.. PPPoE, wifi, port forward etc.

It's the Huawei box thats a b*tch to get in. This is where the fiber cable connects to. It handles your voip as well.

It is as identical as ordinary router out there.

The BTU is just like a bridge modem.
