QUOTE(cherroy @ Mar 7 2011, 03:22 PM)
Internal fibre length given is max 15m.

From the box to TV don't use fibre already. (if not mistaken, I am on Biz, no IPTV)

Once reach your BTU, fibre ended.
*
so if I want my BTU to be near to my TV, does anyone know how much to pay for the extra fibre cable for the extra per meter?
If the BTU is too far from the TV, what is the max cable from the BTU to TV? any max? what extra to pay per meter? sad.gif

regards.

Fred.

the best choice normally to do the wiring inside your house. instead wired outside and going inside when near the TV area, they normally suggest to do wiring inside your house. of course minimal drilling required.

if you willing to pay more, they will charge RM50 for 15 meter i think. for cabling only

I think I easily hit above the 15GB for P1 wiggy and probably exceed 30GB of home pro package since I download movie everyday. I understand P1 has 1 yr contract for home packages.
Maybe unifi control the total usage via capping the download speed since TM hasn't introduce their fair usage capping.
You guys think I should just stick with 1MB streamyx or upgrade to unifi VIP5 if I mainly use the net for download?
*
Just get the BIZ5 if you concerned about the download cap.

does anyone know what is the length of the fibre optic cable that is included with the free $200 installation (ie. from the box to the tv). at my place the box is at the back of the house and my tv is way in front of the house.
Just to make sure the contractor don't try to charge me by saying the distance exceed the approve cable lenght.
Just like installing astro, the contractor claim there is a maximum length is free and additional charges if the length exceeded.

judging by the response here,i guess it's up to your luck.
i got very lucky with my installers-by right i had to pay extra for the cable length used, but they closed one eye and wrote down(on the sheet) 15 meters or something and didnt charge me anything.

additional info I got just now from calling unifi customer service - additional fibre optic cable is $50 / 5meter.

TM said installation still take at least 5hours and appointment on weekend available for landed properties.

for the offer of free installation and free one month fee, you have to register online. Within 24 hrs after register, TM guys will call to make the appointment.

You need to get ready 2 things: 4 sockets cable and AV cable for the TV.

maybe this info is helpful.

it took me just 2 hours (2.30 start, 4.30 ish finish)

they merely drilled two holes. One on top of my outer door, leading to another on top of my kitchen door.
from there they just pulled the wire along the wall and encased it in white casing.(this was upon request, however)
the wire was pulled all the way to my living room, so it is quite a distance away.

as for the sockets, i only needed 3 because i reused my already plugged in cordless phone.
they provide the AV cables, and there's more than enough network cables in the boxes-only problem is that they're very short :/

Hi, is the 15meter sufficient? do you have to pay extra for the fibre cable?

should be no problem.
i doubt EVERYONE has a TV in the house near their computer.

it'll be a waste,though..HyppTV has a few free channels(none that i would personally watch,but to each his own tongue.gif )

Yes.
There is no requirement that must be near TV, as long as the cable from Router to SetTopbox is not max out.
There is no requirement one must use the IPTV.

Standard pricing for every 5M - Rm50.

The installer told me, there was once (since the area is all Biz, company/industrial area), there is one company use until 100m.
