If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

3. Go into an enclose place (total darkness needed) wait for a while (to let our eyes get use to the darkness) and view into the phone screen.
4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other
devices. Anyone can use these color cards to verify on others AMOLED display devices as well...

03. Default browser randomly crash and causing an auto soft reboot. (CONFIRMED) - when surfing mostly on those heavy site the browser will crash for no reason (confirm not cause by low resource). - try disable the "Java/ECMA script" might help on some heavy scripted pages.
04. Call Logs missing even set to keep for 30 days. (CONFIRMED) - Logs over flooded by network connection logs. - Logs having limited overall entry although set to keep for 30 days.
05. Screen won't be fully turn OFF after the charging complete popup message. (CONFIRMED) - Plug in the charger and let the phone to charge. - After the charging complete, a message will popup, do not disturb it and let the phone to turn off the screen as usual. - Turn off the surrounding light (a total darkness needed to observe the screen). - When look the screen in total darkness, you can see a grayish screen with some dark spots (dirty stains).
06. Silence Profile together with Power Saving Mode will result in TOTAL silence phone without any vibration alert. (CONFIRMED) - Select Silence Profile. - Activate Power Saver Mode. - Make a call to the phone. - Your phone will only got display incoming call but without any sound nor vibration alert AT ALL!!!
07. Incoming call Ringing stopped (silence out) if phone slightly turned or shaked. 08. Rapid charging with Nokia AC-8X charger intermittent stop charging in the middle. (PENDING CONFIRMATION) - Let the phone battery left about 10%~20%. - Use the Nokia AC-8X to charge the N8. - Keep checking the phone after a while. - Left the phone charge until full. - If the bug occur during the charging process when you un-plug the charger the phone will indicate the battery not fully changed.

01. KS Improvement - Improve on Kinetic Scrolling, now your list will be easier/faster/longer on kinetic scroll (you wil SURE feel the different)
02. UI Improvement - Experiment Mod - Experiment mods, changed the default FPS from 67FPS to 60FPS and max processing power from 75% to 95%. Need more users experience feedback on it's actual improvement (if it have any)
03. Camera Sound Mute - Enable the camera sound to be mute when warning tone been turn off.
04. Continuous AutoFocus - You will have an EXTRA option under Video Setting that enable the Continuous AF during video.

22. Camera Full Shutdown (RAM) - Camera apps will fully shutdown once you close the apps (won't remain in the memory), but the N8 have better camera apps as the total shutdown and without only make ~1Mb ram saving (not like what we see in 5800xm as it's camera apps are memory whore)
23. Fast Screen Rotation - Can feel "a bit" faster but not lighting fast as the delay seem not from the sensor but rather from the UI.
24. FM Transmitter RDS - The FM Transmitter now send RDS "Nokia N8" and not just "Nokia".
25. Video Call FPS Improvement - Slightly change the video call setting fps from original min/norm/max of 5/10/15 to 10/15/20. Not tested as not really use video call.
26. MSG/LOGS/CONT/CLK/CAL Shutdown (RAM) - Disable Messaging, Logs, Contacts, Clock, Calendar Apps from staying in the background after you exit them.
27. Database Max Record Count - Experimental mod, Increase database from 20 to 50.
28. Default Application Orientation State - Change default orientation from Landscape to Hardware Sensor.

1. Uninstall both "Social" & "Social Installer" from the default Apps Manager. 2. Reboot the phone. 3. Download "Social Apps.zip". 4. Extract the zip and transfer the .wgz & .sisx to the phone (using file manager). 5. FIRST!! Install "Sosial Mixer v1.02.144.wgz" into E:\ drive then 6. Install "Social Networks v1.03.143.sisx" (wait until the Widget installation popup done!!)

Hmm , i don't know why are you guys are hating bout WP7. For me , I think its quite better than Symbian and much more eye candy (except for the tiles) . But WP7 obviously lack apps and a few missing functions and i guess Microsoft would implement those functions ? But still its just my opinion.

the major factor is abandoning symbian.they keep promise their user like symbian 4,50+updates,new browser,revamp UI,true zoom,meego,Qt platform,N9...now what?is it still continue developing?or stop it and move the entire R&D budget to WP7?

The camera on the N8 rocks. But too bad that Nokia is jumping ship on this product. If they have presisted, they could have had a real flagship product on their hands.

Flagship? Even before becoming Ranger, I already doubt S3 gonna be way different from S60v5. Although the good gaming experience provided by the integration of good GPU as well as HD playback did remedy the disappointment, I still feel sad about the overall experience from a smartphone point-of-view.
Hmm , i don't know why are you guys are hating bout WP7. For me , I think its quite better than Symbian and much more eye candy (except for the tiles) . But WP7 obviously lack apps and a few missing functions and i guess Microsoft would implement those functions ? But still its just my opinion.

1. Worse ever choice that Nokia could make. Elop did consider Android one time, but backed out when he was informed that Google Maps would take precedent ove Ovi Maps (in other words - we want the data, and you can't have it), that they would be just a faceless number of manufacturer that are producing Android phone, just like Samsung, HTC and LG. And the final nail was being told by the European and American operators that they don't want another Android phone cluttering their already too big of a portfolio of Android phone, that they want something different, something else to promote that they are not able to, because its either Iphone or Android now. Plus the fact that Android seems to only give benefit to Google.
2. The ones in charge of Symbian don't even know how the eye candy should look like. In fact, forget the eye candy, just give a functional UI first. But what they come up with was a keypad phone updated a bit to work with fat fingers. Come on, enlarged menus? With all the supposed Symbian know how, that's the best they can do? Felt just like what HTC did with Windows Mobile with HTC Touch UI.
3. What we know is this - its backed by a company with very deep pockets. That in itself secures its longevity. The fact that Microsoft was rigid with the requirements also was another factor. But as Elop has said, their agreement differs in the fact that Nokia can do customization to the phone, such as replacing services. And remember, the OS is 4 months old. Remember Android when it was 1 year old?

Nokia could have promoted from withing, but they will all be drinking the same cool-aid that made them missed the fact that they were being owned by everyone. Microsoft didn't actually offer Elop to Nokia, Nokia came and headhunted him. Why? Whatever faults Wp7 has, almost all review I read, and from my own personal experience, the UI is fresh, functional, and easy to use. That was why Symbian is crash and burning, because the UI was like trying to steer a car using half a steering wheel. iOS even right now don't have all that you have listed, the the phones are so hot of a commodity that it's sold out everytime it comes out. I understand from Nokia Salesman in Klang yesterday that those brought their N8 from Mid Feb 2011 should have the purple tint as these set are 2nd batch and also he mentioned that this issue could/can be resolve as new firmware release.. I just wonder which firmware is he refering to? PR1.1 or PR 2.O. Well Mine until now no update yet as not available for my product code..

Nowadays 12mp, 15mp does not really means anything..It's the sensor size that does matter. N8 nice quality is due to its sensor sixe of ~ 1.83..almost similar to hi-end digicam sensor size such as S90, LX5 & more. Even those PNS digicam having smaller sensor size than N8.
BTW, those hi-zoom camera having very small sensor size & thus the PQ of those ultra zoom cameras are bad..

that one is normal, happens very very often.. I guess the OS is still in early stage, not optomized yet
That's one of the disadvantages of N8 comparing to Iphone

yeah yeah .. especially when i use N8 to browse .. load so cham and so hard to scroll .. not photo only sometimes those videos also .. put spoiler make it easier to browse using phone .. if use lappy nevermind ...

i notice that when i play angle birds on N8, is hard to select game lvl on main menu and also when want to close the game by pressing "X" on the top right corner, both symptom need to repeat few time, is it normal?

go to settings> connection manager select the 3G connection by holding it until a menu pop up and select end connection

just set your connection to WLAN only la first..

when u set the phone to dual mode it will prefer 3g/3.5g connection as default... so when 3g/3.5g is showing at the attenna bar there... this is NORMAL and please be aware the 3g/3.5g connection consume more energy compare with gsm...

first of all, it all depend on which mods u are saying here... as u know nokia keep their changelogs simplify which mean we can't be sure what have been changes and what's not... so to be fair, do not use any mods that not been verified by the author... anything else you can ask my "secret"ary... thank you, thank you...

yes, easy. got grey and transparent white. both very nice. as u can notice, the menu button is not covered at all. the slide lock part is super nice to use coz the material is compact. so its nice to hold. the camera button and volume rockers are covered, but the material is really soft so it is very very easy to press. bbxiong and riuken had tried it before at lowyat plaza. they sell there for 38, i got it for 29 at Golla, Pyramid.
oh ya.. the second mic at the camera has the hole there too. so overall, no cutting needed for this case unlike my previous fake version capdase.
what's more.. they even have the Nokia CC1005 silicon cases that some of u guys like so much. the dark blue one is super super nice. not more than 50 bucks i tink.

I heard last time when Symbian3 come out also the same thing.. QT, Symbian^3, 1 off solve everything.... no more compatibility issue, no more inconsistant button etc etc..... no complaint anymore....

actually it depends entirely on u. but i personally will install apps on my build in storage coz u put in memory card.. and if u put the card in elsewhere.. those apps wont work. so i prefer putting songs and pics in the card instead.

irony and jokes aside, I seriously do hope that work out fine... after all, WP7 started off ad a pretty promising OS, with DX9 support, I bet there will be fair amount of PC port game titles.., they just seriously have to add in some of the core feature and symbian have, like multitasking, system wide file manager decent audio player(ok this one symbian don have ) and file transfer via Bluetooth also, not entirely dependent on Zune software to sync like iPhone and iTunes

Guys, theres something wrong with my Camera. Why issit when I on camera, after a short while only it close and go back to home screen. Not all the time la, but often also. Sometimes I open only like 2 3 seconds, takdan do anything, it close ady... Why ah?? Something wrong with phone?
Guys, theres something wrong with my Camera. Why issit when I on camera, after a short while only it close and go back to home screen. Not all the time la, but often also. Sometimes I open only like 2 3 seconds, takdan do anything, it close ady... Why ah?? Something wrong with phone?
Very often one lah.. Sometimes already set nice2 the setting, then suddenly it close and have to set again. I wonder if want to take candid shot happen like that, I sure angry

around that is quite normal. And actually it doesnt really clear the ram completely when u quit the app. Something still cache in the memory i guess. But it will clear it when it needs to use the memory.

my advice is play other lvl first, play 3-5 again day after or few days later

From wat i noticed.. The general gameplay is like this.. The first kind is u have to clear the obstacles using the first shot. So its kinda like a setup shot to ease ur subsequent shots. Normally this first shot is quite tricky. Sometimes the first shot already has the ability to kill almost all the pigs. Sometimes all. So reli must aim properly. U miss the first shot then u know its time to restart.
The second type is u just create mass destruction. U'll notice tat sometimes u kill all pigs and have birds left but u stil cant get 3 stars. So u must kill the pigs and destroy the obstacles at the same time.
I duno if u guys noticed, but the red bird is reli low on damage so its just average. Blue bird works very well on glass and for more damage.. Split them just before it hits the object. The yellow bird is obviously good on wood. The black is good on stones. The green is good on wood and glass. The white is just to shoot hard to reach places. Can oso used to hit hard after it shoots out the egg. And the father bird rapes them all. Haha.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or missed anything. Just my personal opinion of the game.

Anyone tried N-Desk 2.4.08.02 yet? It's like Voyager homescreen with better customization. A bit complicated to install so I malas nak try, don't know if it's worth the effort or not..

yes, easy. got grey and transparent white. both very nice. as u can notice, the menu button is not covered at all. the slide lock part is super nice to use coz the material is compact. so its nice to hold. the camera button and volume rockers are covered, but the material is really soft so it is very very easy to press. bbxiong and riuken had tried it before at lowyat plaza. they sell there for 38, i got it for 29 at Golla, Pyramid.
oh ya.. the second mic at the camera has the hole there too. so overall, no cutting needed for this case unlike my previous fake version capdase.
what's more.. they even have the Nokia CC1005 silicon cases that some of u guys like so much. the dark blue one is super super nice. not more than 50 bucks i tink.

Flashed with 179mb+ files. Take the 11.12 UDA from navifirm & rename it to 13.16. Before you copy into the folder make sure you run until the missing 2 files (UDA & memory card (1.6GB)) prompt in the phoenix. Then copy the 11.12 UDA into the folder & rename to 13.16. Run refurbish... The whole file should be around 240mb during flashing.

What I understand is the current batch are sold in the market are 2nd batch which MOBO free issues but some sets will have display issue (Purple Tint Issue). Other than that is problem free. This what is so far I have encounter.

No need to send to NCC loh, just wait for new firmware. According to some Nokia Guys in other forums (Nokia Discussion Board) it can be solve by upgrade to new firmware.. I believe maybe later in middle in 2011..

confirm new firmware can solve the display issue? i'm afraid that mayb nokia is having several manufacturers for the amoled screen so some ppl have that issue and some dont have.

I have tried OTA still says on no new updates available... And not only in Malaysia even in some part of Europe still dont have PR1.1 of which they claim the product code is alphanumeric... based on several website that i sufr through last night..

"My product code is not in the list" - That means, we don't have a schedule for it yet which is in 99% of the cases due to the fact that it's an operator specific variant and your operator has to test & approve the release. That's a schedule we can't influence and we don't know when we get that approval to then be able to publish this software version.

I think they will because, if they don't all those angry N8 owners might be owning their last Nokia. At this moment , it looks like the N8 will be my last Nokia.

Just install Chrome/Firefox, disable AutoRun (Windows 7 disables this by default) and please don't randomly download p0rn using Kazaa or whatever. Guarantee you won't get 99% of the viruses out there anymore.
