Hi all,

I just purchased a Galaxy S 1 week ago. I noticed that whenever I made a phone call and the in-call volume is more than 50%, I will hear distortion (voice + weird sound, sounds like the speaker is broken) from the in-call speaker. Is that considered normal? Seriously need your advice here, thanks in advance.

never notice this before... always use full in-call volume

This is a How-To based on my experience:-

HOW TO CONNECT TO KIES 2.0

1. Uninstall the older version of Kies (1.5).

2. Go to "C:\Program Files\" and delete folder "Samsung". Restart the PC. Note: Might effect other Samsung software if you have any.

3. Make sure you have .Net Framework 3.5 or higher installed in your computer.

4. Download the new Kies 2.0. Download Kies 2.0

5. Download the file and install as per usual.

6. Download & install the Samsung USB Drivers after step (5). This file contains the drivers needed for connection. Upon executing, it will copy driver files into C:\Program Files\Samsung\USB Drivers.

7. The installation for the USB drivers will take a long time. While it is installing, you can connect the I9000 and select connection type as "Mass Storage" on your phone and then "Mount it".

8. FileSearcherforKiesFix.exe is a simple application that scans your mounted SD card for files with extensions exceeding 16 characters (16 characters is the maximum limit). You will need to remove these files in order to proceed further. Download FileSearcherforKiesFix.zip, unzip and run it.

9. Click the Search button and the selection box will appear. Select the mounted drive. It will now scan your drive.

10. Unmount the phone and disconnect the USB cable.

11. Wait for the USB Drivers installation to complete.

12. Reconnect the phone's USB cable but this time select "Samsung Kies" as the connection. If steps (8) & (9) were executed properly, you should see "Connected" on your phone's screen.

13. If step (6 & 11) was successful, the PC would have successfully installed the drivers needed for your phone automatically.

13. Run Kies on your PC and it should be connected within 1 minute.

14. Kies Tutorial (Scroll to the bottom) : Kies 2.0 (How To)

* Normally, item at step (8) is the main reason why the phone does not connect to Kies.

TS, hope you can put this on the first page. Happy connecting thumbup.gif !

then try other modem, JPD.. to me, wifi /gprs does consume more battery than usual..
try check your each apps setting, maybe it tries to sync/update when wifi is turned on.
disable background data would help..

Back then I used Kies to upgraded my firmware from 2.1 to 2.2 wt no prob at all. I would say it's actually useful for the non modded phone.

I agree. Although kies is a really bad piece of software, it is a good starting point for newbies. Later on, can introduce other softwares.

@ CrossX. I have tried the files downloaded from your site. It's 1.1.0.0 version while the link at front page is 1.3.0.0.
I manage to install the phone. But I got the notification prompting that... root unsucessful device is rebooting. After reboot, my phone respond has become even more sluggish. Like snail!! I really need urgent help here! Anyone please??? (for your info, I remove the SD Card when I use z4root)

I have redownload the file. And this time, the file is functioning. And I manage to install z4root and root my device successfully. I think previously, the file I download from the first page link file size is not tally.
I just don't know why.
Anyway, thanks for those who provided me with a lot of helps.

Sorry. Just noobs and be cautious.
Why the apps list in my Titanium Backup under the backup/restore icon:
Some are red, some are white, and some are green?
What does that mean?
Besides, how to backup huh? Click on batch or legend? or create updater.zip?

white: user app - your installed app
red: system app - that are located in /system/app folder
green: data

To backup, go to menu > batch > Backup all user apps. > click run > run the batch operation. If you want to make an updated backup, choose Backup all new apps & newer version.
