2870 got AF-S so its silent. Main different other then already stated would be the size and weight, there's a reason why people call it "the beast" laugh.gif
*
mind to elaborate what happen with the size and weight? I don't get it.

one is white version, one is normal tongue.gif optical quality difference should be enough reason to buy the latest version

and if you look at the sales thread, you can see the extended part of the lens.

Nanocoat actually improves CA and also contrast. Take for example the 85D versus the 85G, the 85G has better CA control and also contrast when wide open at f/1.4

Same goes to the 70200 VR and 70200 VRII.

Tat day when I tested the 24-70 in BTS, I wonder why this such expensive lens will have the lens barrel move in n out so stupidly, Aiiz.... This means no weather seal??

nikon never said its lenses are weather sealed. but most of us knew it from experience that the lenses can and do appear weather resistant. to what extent? well up to your luck i guess tongue.gif

i've used my camera with the 18-70mm in minor rain a couple of times without cover. no problem so far *touch wood*

the 18-70 do has this rubber thingie at the mount part though. not bad for a kit lens smile.gif

I find 35mm more suitable for my use. Wedding, portraiture, dining etc.
50mm too tight. If I need some background separation, my 70200 is there.
So, in the end, i sold my 50mm. Is the range, not the aperture.
Might get 24/1.4 and 50m/1.2 once i'm on FF
35mm probably on selling list after this wink.gif

even I bring my 1855 during rain. but still works perfectly. brows.gif
weather sealed? I think for such a cheapo lens like 1855 nikon wouldn't implement that.
