Warranty:
QUOTE
> How long is the warranty period for Maxis iPhone 4G?
- The warranty is up to 12 months from the date of purchase and cannot be extended. (not valid for ACPP)

However, Customers on a 24 month plan can now enjoy extended warranty up to 24 months with a new iPhone 4.

http://maxis.com.my/personal/iphone4/landing.asp

> What kind of damages does the warranty cover against?
- Just like the policy of any other mobile phone distributor, the warranty covers against any software/hardware failures and damages that are not self-caused or due to self-negligence. (eg. drops, water damages)
(Warranty will be void if you jailbreak your iPhone. Do a restore before sending in for warranty)

> If my iPhone is faulty, can I send in to Maxis and request for 1-to-1 exchange?
- In most cases, 1-to-1 is done for faulty sets. But you might need to wait if the specific centre don't have ready stocks. And take note that for the experience of past Maxis iPhone 3G users, a refurbished set will be given for the exchange.

> I've just bought a used Maxis iPhone 3G/3GS. What do I need to do when I wanted to send in my phone to Maxis for warranty?
- To claim warranty you need the person who bought the iPhone which is under his/her name to be present. Requires I/C (of original owner) and warranty card.
*UPDATE: According to a personnel from Machines, having the Warranty Service Card is suffice for warranty purpose.(credits to tinkerbel)

Q&A:

Q: What is MEP?
A: Maxis Exclusive Partner.

Q: MEP location?
A: http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/iphone3gs/where1.asp

Q: Is Maxis iPhone 3GS an UNLOCK unit?
A: YES. IS FULLY UNLOCK.

Q: I've just bought a used Maxis iPhone 3G/3GS. What do I need to do when I wanted to send in my phone to Maxis for warranty?
A: To claim warranty you need the person who bought the iPhone which is under his/her name to be present. Requires I/C (of original owner) and warranty card.
*UPDATE: According to a personnel from Machines, having the Warranty Service Card is suffice for warranty purpose.(credits to tinkerbel)

Q: Will a white version be available?
A: No, the white version hasn't been made available by Apple yet, ANYWHERE.

Q: What IOS 4 does it come with the iPhone?
A: Maxis sets came with 4.0.2[credit teikwing]

Q: Any free bumper case from Maxis?
A: No free bumper cases available. They are not giving out the bumper case @ the launch but u still can apply thru the Official Apple site. More info here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1509871

Q: can any1 confirm that u can get 2nd Iphone 4 off the contract (RRP) if u purchase 1st set with contract.
A: Yes you can. Just met a fellow forummer, he is the first 60 who got the phone. He also bought an additional phone outright.

Q: what if i have da confirmation id but im not going due to some personal reason n yet i asked my frens to go on behalf on me?? is it acceptable?
A: cannot i think. Just now i asked the maxis ppl at midvalley. He said u have to be there urself.

Q: Do they provide micro sim?
A1: No need to pay for Micro sim and you can get it there and then. Maxis will give you the MICRO SIM when you purchase the iPhone - FOC.[credit bontaku]
A2: microsim is given free of charge..[credit kenji82]

Q: buying iphone 4 outright..Could u tell us more details regarding it?
A1: Get into a contract - doesn't matter what plan - you get iphone from that contract.
You can then ADD JUST the iPhone 4 (doesn't matter what size). In total - one iPhone with contract and one without (please keep in mind - no sim lock) [credit bontaku]
A2: Bought my iphone 4 outright with no problem as long ur using ivalue plan [credit Freshie_Foo]
A3: To buy outright purchases, just go to the counter when it's ur turn and tell them u want to purchase outright. [credit tinkerbel]

Q: Installment plan? How?
A: The Visa/Master CR Card merchant is only for Citibank, HSBC, Public bank, Maybank and CIMB Bank on installment plans.

Example, If you purchase ip4 32GB on Ivalue 1 X 12 months contract = RM1990

Ivalue 1 : RM400 for 24 months and RM200 for 12months <--advance payment
ivalue 2 :RM620 for 24 months and RM200 for 12 months
ivalue 3 : RM1250 for 24 months and RM500 for 12 months
ivalue 4: RM2000 for 24 month, RM1000 for 12 months

This so called advance payment is either Swap your credit card which is not under installement plans, however there is a rebate RM40 X 5 months = RM200 which is credit back in your bill.
Basically the advanced payment will be credited equally over in 1st 5 months of your bill. [credit weileong]

Q: Easy Payment and which bank? [by andyoba]
A: 0% easy payment plan will be available at launch on 24th at Gardens
Participating banks and installment duration
Maybank (12/24 months)
Citibank (12/24 months)
CIMB (12/24 months)
HSBC (12 months)
Public Bank (12 months)

Too much intel exposed in the forum lately

We should keep this for ourselves, for fellow forumers who still didnt have their iphone4 yet, like me, for example wub.gif
I think we should KEEP the location of the stock within our fellow forumers.

PLEASE GUYS, KEEP IT TO YOURSELVES, MORE DETAILS, DO IT IN PM

Hi Guys,

Did anyone knows what's the stock iOS for iphone4 selling by Maxis at this moment?
As far as I'm concern last time it's 4.0.x . Not sure the sets have been updated to 4.1 or 4.2 at this moment.
Plan to get one next month at Pyramid smile.gif

Last Tuesday I went to Maxis Center at the Gardens. Wanted to claim warranty for loose home button and loose back. Unfortunately consultant and asst manager there said that it's not eligible for warranty unless the home button is completely not functional. They said if they send to their distributor, the warranty claim will be rejected.

I am really unhappy that I paid so much to Maxis for a product which has loose components. In the US, this issue is eligible for warranty and you can just walk in to the Apple store for a 1 to 1 exchange.

Not satisfied with the store's response on my warranty claim. I contacted Maxis support via @maxislistens on twitter and on facebook. They called me up on Friday to follow up the issue and as of now, I haven't heard back from them.

Anyone had success with warranty claim?

@ calvin_gsc call the AppleCare hotline and leave a complaint there. cos the manager & asst. manager at the Maxis Center do not have authority to reject your claim. if you insist, they are supposed to send it in and try anyway.
@ hackerzx get with Hotlink la, extra RM5 only. call everyone you know, finish the credit and then disconnect the line smile.gif

So why don't you just intentionally push the button with extra force to make the home button useless?
This way Maxis have to process your claim?

Ok guys, finally I got a response from Maxis customer service.

They will help me replace my iPhone 4. However, it's not going to be a 1-1 exchange on the spot as they will have to send the phone back to their vendor to get a replacement. Apart from that, they will take in the phone without its original box and accessories. The replacement will just be a bare phone. I asked if the unit is going to be a refurbished unit or not, and the consultant claims it's gonna be a brand new/sealed phone. Apparently the seal is just gonna be like a sleeve/or maybe the plastic wrapping the actual iphone 4 itself, and wont come with a box with serial number. I asked if it was going to come with a new service card or not, she had to get back to me.

I think after CNY only I will send in my phone.

That's your Hotlink plan right there lol. At least that's how I got my contract-free iPhone (aka iPhone + hotlink pack), by coming in batshit early.

hi guys, need to ask for your opinion.
i got my iphone with contract (new number and gonna cancel my old number) a week ago in a maxis roadshow. ive got the phone but my line, have yet to be activated as of today!
the problem is i have terminated my previous postpaid line in fear of getting 2 bills at the end of next month.

i made calls to maxis and they keep telling me that my registration has not been submitted yet. so i am now kinda "phoneless" for a week and am getting angry that i want to just cancel the line that i registered for the iphone (and get others, like digi).

so my question is, can i do this? anybody had similar experience?

For the meantime, use prepaid, any prepaid as you like to avoid phoneless for another week or more.

As for the new postpaid you registered, keep on calling them, threat them a bit that you will report this matter to SKKM.

May I further clarify, in the warranty part;

QUOTE
> If my iPhone is faulty, can I send in to Maxis and request for 1-to-1 exchange?
- In most cases, 1-to-1 is done for faulty sets. But you might need to wait if the specific centre don't have ready stocks. And take note that for the experience of past Maxis iPhone 3G users, a refurbished set will be given for the exchange.

Instant 1-to-1 exchange can be done if the phone is found faulty within 24 hours after purchase. After the 24 hours has lapsed, any warranty claims (still 1-to-1) will have to wait usually around 10-14 days. The exchanged set is a new set.

And buying iPhone outright from Maxis is difficult, you need to be very lucky to get one. (Not every MC/staff sells iPhone outright)

Rajin line up. If some sellers willing to do that, they can probably earn big money now. RRP at RM2290 for 16GB but the market price is RM2500. Easily sold off. Demand is greater than the supply at the moment.

Then I tried my luck at Sunway Pyramid MC....luckily....

Sure you could, but you gotta be an early bird. Like be the first customer of the day.

I've heard good chances from KLCC, TTDI and Sunway Pyramid.

One Aunty was there even earlier, but she was there to exchange her Maxis BB modems so yeah, I was the first guy to get an iPhone from TTDI that day.

By 8.45 the line was kinda long edi, that day anyway. Now how not sure.

Yes you can, the staff member who told you that is:

A) Not sure of what he's selling (aka. Dumb)
B) Not willing to let go of units because the allocated outright units are all finished.

I got mine outright. Is there anything more to say? But confirm you can't be there at like 10 and ask, stocks sure habis edi.

Installment, Maybank EPP, 24 months. I kinda regret it now, next time I'll only get it on a ONE year installment only. I mean, an iDevice cycle goes yearly, rite?

Now I'm practically stuck with this thing at least until version 6.

i'm from Penang and maxis customer for past 10 years, Currently iphone 3g user but my iphone got earhpone problem and need new iphone 4g. Waiting for 1 month still can't get the phone. Everytime go to maxis center, they just reply no stock, can not booking, can not sign up, wait for your luck. so arrogant. phone call booking to maxis 123 just apply to klang valley. even some dealer have no stock but can sell you RM2650 for new set. Thinking for changing to other brand phone.

I went to collect my iPhone 4 for RMA after a week. But unfortunately the replacement iphone4 had the same loose button issue and worst, loose volume buttons too. I didn't accept the replacement and asked for another one. Also, the replacement looks new, but they don't give you a replacement from a new batch. The replacement I got still had philiips screws and not torx screws. I complained on twitter @maxislistens right away, and not long I got a call from their CS. They'll try and get me a better replacement.

I followed up closely with @maxislistens twitter. Was lucky to have gotten serviced by a very nice CS. But the problem now lies at the distributor (Brightstar Malaysia).

Added on February 18, 2011, 6:38 pmI complained again on twitter and I've been given RM100 waiver on my next phone bill.

It's hard to buy outright these day. even they got stock, they refuse to sell outright unless you have inside people who willing to help you.

for those who got outright before this..they're lucky

bro,

just beside kl sentral.
If you come out from kl sentral main entrance, turn left.
or u can come out from the klia express entrance.

the building(plaza sentral) located between a few tall buildings eg takaful and UEM.
when u get there, the maxis academy lot at the end of the plaza sentral.
if u lost, u can ask the receptionist tongue.gif

it should be here.. at the + spot..

http://wikimapia.org/#lat=3.1317263&lon=10...=19&l=0&m=b&v=8

last time i go and park at the basement, not too expensive for the a 1 hour rate, easier than walking far from kl sentral (even thought all those electronic signage says full, actually there is guest parking free still available at the time when i go and collect my phone last time)..

hope this helps.. biggrin.gif

The same? Telco RRP is the same anyway. Expect 2.6k and 3.2k for 16gb and 32gb at normal shops (Maxis/Digi units).

Are there any stocks left in the Maxis Centre branch located at MidValley Gardens? I am planning to get one, 16gb under iValue 1 from there this weekend although I'm afraid it might have gone out of stock.

I went to maxis KLCC last night at 8pm. The Iphone booth is empty. They still have 16gig stock. I am sure those people who want to get iphone 4 already got already.

I didn't purchase though. I think the hype around iphone 4 has faded already. Waiting for maxis to slash their price some more when Celcom launches their iphone 4.

Thanks for the info. That feels somewhat reassuring.
With regards to the expectation of the price dropping once Celcom introduces their iPhone 4, I wouldn't count on it since I was given the impression from quite a number of LYN posts that Maxis has always been reluctant to lower their prices.
But hey, maybe it's just me. sweat.gif

For the second phone, you need to pay the RRP price for either the 16GB or 32GB.

I suspect Maxis has a lot of stock but they limit sales just to drive up the demand artificially. Wait till the demand for iphone 4 dive and they are caught with stock they cannot sell. Maybe have to push to Tesco again just like iphone 3GS.

Added on March 30, 2011, 3:52 pmFinding iPhone 4 32GB that no need to waiting for stock, I need to get it asap, no need contract, no need plans, but all warranty and status must be same as how to buy from authorised telco, and all warranty claiming must not be any problem, no jailbreak. Totally new and not unboxed. Any idea where to get it?

*
e.g. if you take iPhone4 16GB with Maxis iValue 1 (RM100) for 12-months, the phone costs RM1,590
You need to pay some downpayment, but to make it simple for calculation, let's just count 1590/12 mths = RM132.50 per month for the phone installment.

This means, every month, you need to pay RM132.50 (iPhone cost) + RM100 (Maxis plan)
= RM232.50 / mth (for 12 months)

Again, the above is not the exact calculation, but just to give an indication on the ownership cost for both device + plan.

u could port over to maxis and take its ivalue plan with an iphone...its a contract (1yr or 2 yrs) your choice......if u take 3gs now + contract ivalue, u have to wait till ur contract ends or at least 6 months (contract extension) b4 u can take the ip4.....for more info...check out maxis website.

God. It's already been over a year and people are STILL sweating their behinds off trying to desperately get an IP4?

Steve sure knows how to mint gold out of aluminium and glass, eh?

Not to troll or anything, just feel extremely lucky now I got my 4 in January from TTDI on my first try, contract-free (slumming it with Celcom now). Even if I DID forgo sleeping the day before that, got there at the crack of dawn and literally started the line in front of the Maxis Centre that fine Saturday morning.

Can try that out if any of you guys get desperate enough - freaking early in the morning is still prime time to get an iPhone 4 from Maxis, especially if you're aiming for a contract-free one.

Also, they have plenty of Contract stocks here in Lipis. For some unknown reason.

never call center or customer support, they are like talking according manual book, bus center may selling without contract and totally depend on staff some times, i search through all discussion and forum and many are need luck, and yea, I heard several place like KLCC, Sunway, The Gardens also able to do it, but u need to queue up before they start operation for best result, but dun forget, IF only IF they those staff allow u buy without contact.

if like that, there are 25 Maxis Center all over Malaysia, and only 10 units iPhone 4 per Maxis Center, means one day they only selling 250 units all over Malaysia? They are kind a bull shit around as a iPhone stock controller in Malaysia.

those Apple Resellers actually take stock from Maxis as well, and they told me that Maxis controlling all stock.
I know they control and limit stock per day got their reason, but think in another perspective, iPhone 4 already released half a year in Malaysia but still got people complainting can't buy, it seems like iPhone 4 became extincted animal or rare antiques, already half a year stil need to queue up front of Maxis Center early in morning before Maxis open their shop, look like US launching their iPad 2.... it is so stupid to listen that more than 6 month already, Malaysian still like starving for iPhone 4.

WHat the hack they are doing? they think "well, we are good in stock controlling, well we have to balance~" then? they balanced all the iPhone stock into 365 days before launch of iPhone 5, and users got their long awaited iPHone 4 just one day before the launch of iPhone 5? That is terrible and totally a failure. Can they feel that maxis valued customers wait an iPhone for weeks and weeks? Told no stock week after week? And queue up up to 7am in front of Maxis center, but told no stock or not willing to sell without contract? Oh man... ask the Maxis staff go and queue for iPhone see what they feel la....

On the contrary I got my unit by calling them. I connected to the general inquiry, inform them my intentions, they got some details and by the next day they called back to inform me my iPhone is ready for collection. Collected and got everything done within an hour.

One speculation is that maybe they will see if you're an existing Maxis customer. Since I've been using Hotlink prepaid since College and Postpaid customer for 2 years, guess they gave me priority over non-maxis customer.

Different people different experience maybe?

How to own one, cash and carry

Cash and carry is the term I like to use most as a need for iPhone, but there will be a lot of people rather call it as ‘buy without contract’, ‘contract-free iPhone’, ‘outright’, ‘iPhone without plans’. Yeah! That’s right! Here to guide you how to buy an iPhone without any contract nor plan, cash and carry!

What you need to do? Simply 3 steps:
1. Find a Maxis Center that restock every day, friendly staff and who willing to sell iPhone without contract.
2. Sleep earlier the day before you buy it, because you need to wake up and be there before they open the shop, because there is millions of internet surfer who found this page as well and there are at least only 10 units available. So you will compete with them, yeah, compete with you.
3. A Hotlink user, senior one. Yes, not a Maxis user; what I mean, you must be a prepaid Hotlink user and a senior one, how senior? I’m not sure with it; better own the account more than 6 month. But for safer result, be a one year owner of Hotlink.

So done? Yup! You may try eCurve and TTDI Maxis Center (TTDI recommended). Problems you may encounter:
1. Staff might change and not letting you buys without contract.
2. Maxis Center may experience lack of stock and not going restock in some day, so even you queue from Midnight also no use.

All you need is knowledge of these, second will be luck, so all the best guys!

p.s. I got mine.

Its kinda stupid that Maxis and Digi are still practising this lame tactic... to keep boosting up the iphone 4 sale. If they no stock, better don't promote their plans lar... waste ppl time only

Agreed. There are people who come late still can get iP4 last two weeks at Sunway Maxis.
Now depleted already, i guess it is their marketing strategy.

It's all depend on you, bro. If you prefer using IP4 with prepaid, then pay a little bit more for the phone. If postpaid, then you pay not so much. It's your call (no pun intended). rclxms.gif

Lowest price I saw for a Maxis/Digi IP4 is RM2,200, and it's gone in less than 20 minutes.

Haha.

But I do see a lot of people buying iPhone in Penang.

After I register iPhone in BJ, night time I go QB to cancel my Maxis BB, got an uncle also buying
iPhone. The Maxis rep said drop price already. So people still buying and not waiting for iPhone 5 wor.

After i use iPhone 4, I think everyone should get an iPhone. The ecosystem is too good and it just
work. LOL

Evening? Sure you will be out of luck by evening. Normally there will be stock until 3-4pm latest.

U may try The Curve. I got it there last Sunday. They told me they replenish their stock everyday at around noon. By 1.00pm if you reach there should be stock.
Anyway this is what the stuff told me lah. They bring in 5 unit of IP4 16GB each day.

last time i thought so, i also think that 16gb is more than enough

but now if let me get ipad, i think i will get 32gb one lo

reasons is not because of app (it doesn't really take much space for me), not really because of music as i don't really listen to songs. a bit due to movie though.

but most important is due to photos. i want to store my photo in it by i am too lazy to make it smaller lol.

but now if let me get ipad, i think i will get 32gb one lo

reasons is not because of app (it doesn't really take much space for me), not really because of music as i don't really listen to songs. a bit due to movie though.

but most important is due to photos. i want to store my photo in it by i am too lazy to make it smaller lol.
*
ipad camera is lousy wor. And the photo size is small. So u dun need 32gb also...lol

Hi guys. Need to ask something. For contract plans, lets say im taking iValue 1 which needs to pay RM100 monthly. I noticed that the value for 12 months would be RM1590(16gb). Does this means I need to pay RM200(prepayment or something)+RM1590 when signing the contract for ip4?

Just to share with all, I spoke to Maxis CS earlier this evening:

1) during this 3 event days, the phone can be bought either with plan or outright (RRP);

2) no data cap/extra charges applies for iValue plans also - guess this helps those deciding wheher to buy outright and take SurfMore plans?

3) they can't confirm yet whether if a 24 month plan is taken whether the phone comes with warranty for 12/24 months - likely announce on Friday onwards
