Please continue reporting your experience with the OS3.0 in this thread, and this thread will also be the review thread for the iPhone 3G[S]/AifonTriJiEs once I have procured mine. Also, anyone with an iPhone 3G[S], you are most welcomed to post your thoughts, impressions and reviews here.

Forward, march!

NEW INFO!

For those keeping tab on the iPhone 3G[S] scene, some good news. Remember this link? Before this it shows which country provides unlocked iPhones based on their carriers. Now, it has been updated to include columns on which carrier provides MMS and Internet Tethering as well. I would presume, since these two new columns marks as new updates, the state of "which carrier/country provides unlocked iPhones" are also updated as well, and the list is now updated to include the state of unlocks for the 3G[S] as well.

If that is the case, these following countries are the countries are currently still providing unlocked iPhones to their customers, and presumably the same state of unlocks for the upcoming 3G[S]:-

Countries with officially unlocked iPhone 3G, and therefore presumably, the iPhone 3G[S]

CODE
Belgium(Mobistar), Czech Republic(O2, T-Mobile, Vodafone), Greece(Vodafone, Cosmote), Italy(TIM, Vodafone), Luxembourg (Vox, LUXGSM), Russia(Megafon, MTS, Beeline), Turkey(Turkcell), Hong Kong(3), Macau(3), Malaysia(Maxis), New Zealand(Vodafone), Singapore(SingTel), Taiwan(Chunghwa Telecom), Thailand(Truecom), Saudi Arabia(Mobily), UAE(Etisalat), South Africa(Vodacom)

There are a list of countries whose carrier provides official unlocks for their iPhones even though the initial state of the iPhone is locked, but I wont bother posting those. The process of these unlocks REQUIRES the presence of these iPhones to be within the country which provides these unlocks, and such logistics and planning can throw a lot of the planning off. My targets are the iPhones from countries above because they are more than likely, because of their law, REQUIRES their iPhones to remain unlocked officially.

Among the countries listed above, here are their release dates:-

First Wave
CODE
Italy - June 19th

Second Wave
CODE
Belgium - June 26th

Third Wave Confirmed
CODE
New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore - July 10th

Third Wave
CODE
Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Malaysia, South Africa - July 2009

The rest are on the Fourth Wave which is in August 2009.

I think IIANM, it has been stated that the new unlock will disable Youtube, so it is a toss-up between wanting the new features of 3.0 + Cydia or Youtube itself. Weigh your options.

Correct me if I am wrong.

In my opinion, I think the possibilities of 3.0+cydia overwhelms the need for the youtube app. Streaming youtube on WIFI is really slow anyway. rolleyes.gif

I tried on office Wifi..same YouTube connect error as well. The only way to connect as mentioned by String is to use Safari load Youtube and click on the video..with that the video will be played with Youtube app.

Weird, I tried mine just now, and Youtube loads just fine now. I did a re-restore to a backup and it works, alebit slowly, on the native Youtube app. All's fine in the world now.

Gonna get some shut-eye. Gotta wake up in a couple of hours to meet Harmeet.

Yeah really weird issue. Oh hey... I get it now... could it be that I am not using TM Net DNS? I am on OpenDNS actually. A lot of sites not possible previously are fine with OpenDNS. My youtube on PC is quite good too.

My iphone 3G O.S 3.0 + Jailbreak

using 3G = youtube ok, mxtube ok

using wifi at home = youtube could not connect, mxtube ok. (not check it again this morning)

using wifi at office = youtube ok, mxtube ok.

My conclusion, all related line condition.

TQ.

@vui_msia,
Have U used both IM+ 3.0 & BeeJiveIM? Any preference?! I'm currently on IM+ but have heard so much about BeeJiveIM, I'm considering to spend the 9.99 to get it [Yeah it's going for 9.99 now instead of 15.99 hence heheheh the impulse]

Any advice?

*Added*
I just checked YouTube app on my Office Wifi; it works albeit a little slow biggrin.gif

You may want to check DNS and router settings. I've took some time to optimize the settings for mine and I have been getting youtube even on a sucky Streamyx day.

I think both are just as good. Even the IM+ 3.0 Lite (free) can send pictures, audio and support push notification as well as kept alive in background. Plus its on sale right now at USD$5.99 for the IM+ 3.0 Full Version! Yeah, I've heard a lot about Beejive too but their preview images didn't attract me. I wonder how's the usage experience like? Probably I'll check some reviews over Youtube.

I bought Beejive during SALE too (few months back at US9.99), it is great due to the user friendly, well manage (eg easy to control and use, this is important especially you have so many Chating programs in a small device) and stability. smile.gif

I havent try IM myself, may be i should try out with the LITE version. Only features waiting for Beejive is - not sure when they will add SKYPE, they already ve new version support PUSH notification but pending on APPLE now.

USD$9.99 is a bit hahahaha... pricey for me. I'm worse than you (Ah Sam haggling) cause I prefer free hehehe... I'll have to wait next month cause I've hit my max ceiling as I have been purchasing a lot of games lately. I'll wait a few moments before jumping into Beejive. Too bad it doesn't have a lite/free version. I really want to see how it operates in real life. Let me check youtube tonight if there're any such reviews.

So you've got IM+ for 0.99? Thats a no brainer! I wonder when they go down again drool.gif

Yeah try out the IM+ 3.0 lite version. It has almost everything except Facebook and Skype chat/calls. Previously the IM+ lite cannot support background services, no sending photos, etc.

@davidmak,
Yup.. 0.99 for IM+ is really a no brainer. If BeeJiveIM dropped to 0.99 I would just get it without asking much; even if it was 2.99 (considering I knew it was 15.99!) hehEHhee.....

Let me know what the final outcome is. I guess on my end I don't do games so that's quite a bit of savings for me biggrin.gif

@nokia2003,
Yeah, I wonder who! And, until Apple gets their Push Notifications in order, I don't think they'll be approving the new updates *siGh*

@jonest,
BeeJiveIM is going at a reduced special @ 9.99. If it was 0.99, I wouldn't have to be thinking this hard as to whether or not I should get it tongue.gif

I did however get IM+ when it was 0.99 biggrin.gif
