It is highly recommended to use Amex at Esso/Mobil because of the conversion of points to fuel, which is equivalent to an additional 1.5% cash back. If we use Maybankard 2 Amex at Esso/Mobil during weekends, we can then get 5x TPs + 5% cash back + additional 1.5% rebate.

and some esso/mobil station in kajang area will give 2x points on oct-dec every year, equal to 3% brows.gif

Please do not promote ESSO/MOBIL, my car get 20% less mileage with Synergy Oil. Some may find out that this oil is better. It depends. Some car may like this fuel but some car/engine not. I believe not all oil are the same and there is no best oil.

Shell, Caltex, ESSO, MOBIL but BHP I am not sure. Petronas sure cannot.
I missed Shell for long time because Just One cannot be used here and last time Caltex did.
Now Caltex accept Just One d.

choonkeong, I know shell does claim its petrol goes further but I asking which brand you find give you better than ESSO for your case. Caltex kind of out of my way. Shell many stations but I find that there was no diff when I the RON97 with my car. For my case, it depends on how I drive i.e. speeding or not.

I find it has no difference for RON95 with Shell, Petronas and Esso/Mobil. Therefore, I use Esso/Mobil more frequent nowadays since it makes me save more money by giving out more points compared to other brands. Also, I may win somwthing from Esso/Mobil since its customer base is not as big as Shell and Petronas. tongue.gif

It is not recommended to apply for the cards through telephone without submitting any documents. Some forummers here including myself tried this method but ended up receiving error and delay.

If you want to get the card fast, you can download the form from M2U website and fill in the form yourself and then fax or email it over to MBB together with some supporting documents.

hmmm, if there is a discrepancy of a few percent, i would buy your claim. but a margin of 20%? shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif

i wouldn't say esso/mobil is the best amongst the rest, but definitely not the worst either.

since i live in TTDI, we have a vast different of fuel providers/kiosks here. so what my brother and i did was. to pump the same provider/kiosk for a fortnight (of course using a common sense rule; we endeavor to empty the tank as much as we can before refueling) before moving to the next provider/kiosk.

we would say that, caltex gives us the best mileage but the definitely not shell (contrary to their advertisements).

esso/mobil is somewhat in the middle. however since its smile reward points system is relatively straight-forward and hassle free, we continue opting for it (even until now)

Added on February 4, 2011, 2:45 pmhowever, when i was in melbourne, my fuel provider choice is shell without a single doubt (thanks to the coles rebate)

because the price gaps between RONs are not as wide as here, i always opt for shell's V power RON98

1. No AMEX didnt provide secure online verification like Visa / MC.

2. Yes you can topup/send/pay ur Paypal using AMEX.

3. Yes you can pay ur TGV using Paypal with ur PayPal balance. if balance is not enough, Paypal will charge from ur Visa/MC/Amex.

it is bcozsmiles (esso/mobil rewards card) give 1 point for rm1, and 1000 points can redeem rm15 fuel (equal to 1.5%).

while mesra (petronas) and bonuslink (shell) give 1 point for 1 litre, not rm. then 1000 points (rm1900) can redeem rm10 only.

so, use mbk2 amex at esso/mobil on weekend with smiles card,
u will get 5x points + 5% rebate + 1.5% (from smiles), total = 5x points & 6.5% cashback.

take it for a long run, spend rm2000 at esso/mobil on weekend, u will get back rm180 ~

rm50 vouchers (redeem 10,000 TP) + rm100 (5% rebate) + rm30 (redeem 2000 smiles points).

thats all notworthy.gif

It is from Esso/Mobil Smiles card, just like Petronas Kad Mesra and Shell Bonuslink. Smiles card gives more points compared to Kad Mesra and Bonuslink, whereby every RM1 fuel at Esso/Mobil give you 1x Smiles point. You can utilise 1,000 Smiles points to redeem Esso/Mobil fuel worth RM15, equivalent to additional 1.5% cash back.
