Just got my Maybankard2 AMEX (+Visa) approved today.
25-Jan-2011 : Faxed in my application form without support docs as I have existing SonyCard Visa
2 Feb 2011 : Application has been approved.

That's about 5 working days... Kudos to Maybank !!!

I heard we can apply for M2 cards via phone calls without any forms or documents if we have Maybank account/CC. Going to use this method for my M2 application. But will do this next week since tomorrow and Friday is CNY holiday.

hmm.. just went to maybank branch ... and the lady explained on t he maybank2cards.... almost the same thing i was being told by the guy from klcc... Except for .... i need to refill everything as in the application form again .. duh .. (*i am mbb current classic cards holder)

additional : there are 2 types of maybank2cards... platinum and gold cards... with my salary range of 4.5 ... i am able to get the gold card and she said if we are about to get the platinum card... we are able to access the klia lounge as well ?

No access to KLIA lounge for Maybankard2

It is not recommended to apply for the cards through telephone without submitting any documents. Some forummers here including myself tried this method but ended up receiving error and delay.

If you want to get the card fast, you can download the form from M2U website and fill in the form yourself and then fax or email it over to MBB together with some supporting documents.

My application 2 weeks already via phone still hanging. I did mention in my blog that applying via phone will tend to be slower. Anyway, wanted Plat but in MBB system my application is for Gold. So going to apply again for Plat formally by filling up applicaiton form and if they give me both Gold and Plat best.


You will be issued with another Visa Card and your existing Visa still can be used.

If you go pump at Esso with the Maybankard 2 Amex, you will get 5X TP and another 5% cash back on Saturday and Sunday.

if u still want to continue pumping at petronas, go find petronas that can accept amex nearby, then cancel ur mbb petronas.
so u will still get 5x points + 5% cashback if pump at weekend.

It is quite a difficult mission to find a Petronas station that accept Amex. If you are lucky, you could find those older Petronas stations displaying Amex logo at entrance, accept Amex in the counters.

i haven't tried any other petrol kiosks, but my AMEX corporate works with esso/mobil (i only patronise esso/mobil for the smile reward points)

Among all petrol stations, Amex cards experience problems mainly at Petronas only.

Never experienced that. Sometimes VISA/MC can't be swiped at Petronas not because of card acceptance, it is due to system offline!

That's the pump problem. It does happen to other petrol stations like Shell and Mobil as well. Normally it is a temporary problem which occurs occasionally.

What I mentioned was the NON-ACCEPTANCE (no matter when you swipe and how many times you swipe) of Amex at the pump kiosks of most Petronas stations.

Anyway, just use your Amex at other petrol stations and your problem is solved.

It is highly recommended to use Amex at Esso/Mobil because of the conversion of points to fuel, which is equivalent to an additional 1.5% cash back. If we use Maybankard 2 Amex at Esso/Mobil during weekends, we can then get 5x TPs + 5% cash back + additional 1.5% rebate.
