*** Q & A Section ***

1. Where to buy these Asus G-Series gaming notebooks? For instance: Asus G73.
A = You have two alternatives to get yourself a R.O.G gaming notebook. First, you can buy it via local resellers around Malaysia. Click here for more information. Second, you can buy it via other countries resellers. For example, GenTechPC from US. Please refer to *** Where to Buy? *** section.

2. Any difference in price if I buy from Malaysia resellers or US resellers?
A = Yeah. For instance, the price difference of Asus G73Jh in Malaysia and US is astonishing. Malaysia one may cost you around RM10000.00 and the US one may cost you around RM6000.00 in relative (dependent on the currency exchange).

3. How much is the shipping/ delivery fee if I import the notebook from US?
A= The shipping/ delivery fee will vary from different freight forwarders and resellers. For instance, the USPS (freight forwarder) of GenTechPC (reseller) will cost you 149 USD.

4. How to do the wire transfer? Is it safe?
A = You can do it at any local bank but the most ideal one is Maybank as the transfer fee is the lowest of all, that is, around RM25. Nevertheless, you guys must bear in mind that the US bank will charge you some money for the transaction as well. For instance, 30 USD for the assigned bank of GenTechPC. As for the safety level, it is safe as long as you buy from a reputable reseller and follow the TT procedures.

5. May I use PayPal, PayPal eCheck or credits card to make the payment?
A = Usually, the resellers from US only accept wire transfer for international transaction. However, there are some members who manage to do their payment besides of TT. Thus, my advice is to ask the resellers first before making your payment.

6. How about the warranty of Asus notebook?
A = All Asus notebooks come with 2 years global warranty which means that you can claim the warranty wherever you are as long as that particular city has Asus service center. As for the 1 year accidental warranty, it only applies to North America.

* If anyone has questions regarding on these notebooks, feel free to ask around this thread and I will write down them all at this section. Thanks!

At first by October 2009, I only got RM 4000 budget to buy an Acer in any retail market, then increase to Rm 4600 due someone recommendation to buy Dell XPS 16. Later, I learn about Sager for it's stable product line and it become 5200 ... and just by few month ago I increase the budget to RM 5600 after I learned the Asus G73 series which is more cheap and powerful ... but now, the new line come out and I need at least RM 6000, and another RM 500 for shipping cost

I got the money since October 2009 ... but still didn't purchase one ... i got a serious problem doh.gif

Later if I choose a wife .. I dunno how long yo .. doh.gif

Hahah..!! No need to do that bro, I bought my G53JW-A1 and just a few weeks later they announce the new one with sandy bridge.. but i'm still as happy as ever since this laptop satisfies all my need dy.. imo, I dun perceive a need to upgrade to sandy bridge yet.. smile.gif

But if u havent made ur purchase yeah, just wait till they release the one with sandy bridge + new GPU then make ur purchase I suggest..! haha smile.gif

obviously duh... SB power consumption is lesser than the 1st Generation i7, and i guess they must have done something to H65M chipset. Still its unclear if intel solved the slow SSD(power save mode) speed on H55M chipset.

i think battery is of no concern as i believe we gamers would be likely to anchor their notebooks to a plethora of peripherals.. as for me I have 20" monitor, keyboard, mouse, 2.1 speakers, 3 external hard disk, 7-port USB hub and one thumb drive attached.... i can't imagine taking my notebook out..! haha smile.gif

Its GX660 without Raid.
15.6" HD
AMD HD5870m 1GB GDDR5
i5-450M
4GB DDR3
500GB 7200rpm
DVDRW
USB 3.0

Priced around $1229 USD.

MSI GT680R with Core i7 2630M/GTX 460M/dual 500gb raid. priced 1499. Will Asus G53SW beat that price? or slightly higher?

yea sure , joining the club today onwadrs tongue.gif
Bought from a forumer named LuminCheng that got the stock from US.

Hmm , i dun get the "Windows 7 Recovery Media for Windows 7 Products" disc part, because it doesn't come with the package. But there's a program that pops up from the lower right hand corner that prompts me to " set up a back up".

was wondering if i " set up a back up " , isi the backup the same as what it i need from the "Windows 7 Recovery Media for Windows 7 Products" disc ?

that set a backup thing, if ur using the Asus program, will create a recovery disc. You won't get the win 7 recovery media disc, laptops don't get those anymore. need like 5 blank dvds... dual layer dvds didn't seem to work...

Hmm so the best way is to get a Win7 myself and start the recovery ?
As this is a factory stored Win7 , i actually assumed it to have a valid cd key ahhaha

ur cd key is on the bottom of your laptop. You can download the win 7 iso, select the correct version (home premium) and install it back, and use your cd key.

The instructions should be on the link Jeffery gave you

might not, if the pirated one is a registry fix (eg, AIO activated), ur screwing with your windows for no reason. And it voids warranty.

Brought over from V2:

Guys, need some help here on G73JW.
Bought an external USB 3.0 hdd casing 2.5" 500GB 7200rpm
Plugged into g73 usb3.0 port, the drive doesn't appear.
Got another brand usb3.0 hdd casing, after plug in, able to detect the drive. When copying files, it lasts for about 5-10seconds, then it will get disconnected and reconnect.

Any of you guys have such problems? My previous envy17 was having exactly same problem sad.gif
P.S - BIOS have set to xHCI for Usb 3.0 as well

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Any of you have successfully use usb 3.0 external hdd? Let me know how you did it.

Thanks

your external case has a power souce? i think if its 500GB or under, dun need external power source, one of the benifits of USB 3.0 is the 5V power you get from it.

Hi, thanks for the INSTANT response~! Whao, fast and heart warming. XD
I got it from http://www.portableone.com/index.asp
They have the option to 'run a check' (chargeable) before delivery. Somehow, my HDD failed, luck sigh. Well, thankfully Asus covered them GLOBALLY as they promised, thumbs up.  smile.gif

Added on January 20, 2011, 11:30 pm

Yeah, no charge on warranty. Just go and claim it, need to have some patience to wait before your sweet babe returned. XD

Done. Your name has been registered under our database. brows.gif

Agree. No contact lenses. Perhaps Asus should release NON 3D GLASSES gaming notebooks. brows.gif

hmmm , feeling a lil uneasy here, just now i was running my black ops multiplayer a couple of times , a few times.

The game crashed for the 1st time and for the second time it runs smoothly, but i got disconnected from the internet. So as for the 3rd time i ran it , it crashed again. So i restarted the computer .

When the computer restarted, and i logged in to windows , while i am on the logging in screen it says " PREPARING DESKTOP "

I went in to Windows and i saw all my icons are huge , like the default medium size. I lost my black ops Icons / files and some other programs.

I restarted the comp again and it didn't work.

Restarted it for the second time , and everything went back to normal.however black ops starts to lag even in solo mode , and so does my other programs like 3d max and Photoshop.

I did not reformatted my comp for the bloat wares but Just removed them via control panel. Wonder it has anything to do with it .

Anyone experienced this b4? Was thinking shud i send to Computer shop to get it reformated and checked as i am leaving for my studies way bellow soon.

Firstly, black ops is a bad benchmark game as it also lag and crash on mine. Try games like bad company 2. It's stable and could give a good indication.

By the way, did you upgrade your drivers?

Hmm, i think you should go G73.. 1920 x 1080 on 15.6" screen is a little bit stretching my eyes.. but then you should be prepared.. I believe G73 is quite big-sized for a laptop..

And parking is free at danga city mall... so should be better choice... i just dun like the driving out part.

Its a G73JW with customized lighting and Better heatsink for GPU by XopticPC themself. Normal ones will be default by their LED of choicesa.

I was hoping to pick up 1 by end of feb or early march.Maybe a G73JH refurbished with extended 2 years warranty as Asus Ceased to use high end AMD GPU(Must be Nvidia pay them to use more Nvidia GPU) to do all the possible mods. but still I'm gonna see how it goes with G53SW announcement/availability. Maybe the extra cash might go into investment for better gears like Alienware orion backpack + LCD for secondary display as i just scrapped my 2011 desktop plan.

Basically, NO if you only import one notebook into Malaysia. If and only if your notebook is held at your local customs, you have to pay RM18 for the customs declaration form in order to claim your notebook. biggrin.gif

but it shouldn't be held at custom unless you used USPS. Those of us that used comgateway had no problems at all. and it arrived fast. especially for me since it lands in singapore, then only comes to malaysia. And i'm in JB)

overclocking ur CPU or GPU will give you more processing power. So you can run games at a higher setting, or more framerates for the same setting.

Eg, Difference between a GT420/425/435m is the clock speeds, hardware wise they are the same. But the dangers of overclocking is that you make your system unstable (might BSOD anytime) or it might overheat.

Why overclock? U wanna shorten the lifespan of ur laptop? Most laptop will not be recommended to overclock. If ur so interested in overclocking, go get a desktop.

Not much between the 2.... just in major games, HD5870m leads GTX 460M by few frames. However both gpu still loses to Metro 2033. LOLOLOL.

comgateway is a freight forwarding company. Like V-post. they give you an address to use, once your package arrive at their place (to your assigned storage) then you can pay them to ship your stuff back to malaysia/singapore/anywhere really. They use DHL

its actually cheaper, but it does take slightly longer (abour 3-5 days? around there...)

@yeohsheng once your package arrives are the comgateway warehouse, it will take 1-2 business day to process. After processing, then comgateway will tell you how much you have to pay to ship your package back. Payment is done with credit card.

Thanks for the info ^^. Most probably getting it in singapore since i can personal go and buy from there instead of shipping from US.

Another question, if i buy from singapore and take it back to malaysia with me do i need to pay any form of tax ?

Nope, there won't be GST Tax Imposed. Consult your seller for definite Information Integrity regarding the payment and tax as well as the bundled.

Would the cost be quite prohibitive to ship a laptop back to Malaysia by DHL ?

There is no tax impose on importing personal laptop into Malaysia, cost wise not that expensive

its actually cheaper, but it does take slightly longer (abour 3-5 days? around there...)

@yeohsheng once your package arrives are the comgateway warehouse, it will take 1-2 business day to process. After processing, then comgateway will tell you how much you have to pay to ship your package back. Payment is done with credit card.

Can give an approximate cost to ship a laptop back to MY by DHL?
Thank you.

April is such a long time!
By that time, Nvidia might be ready to release a better GPU than the GTX460M.
Then, we'll have to wait again.. Then, Ivy Bridge comes..

I'm not playing this game of patience for long XD

Lol hm, teamsloks you can refer here

if you want the 3% rebate you have to pay with either paypal E-check or by Wire transfer/TT (they're the same thing)
but the fee for using Wire transfer/TT kinda cancels out the 3% discount.

You put your name in the first name last name boxes.
address start from 11743 there.
then the XXX-XXX replaced with the one comgateway gave to you.

followmerogerthat and jaycn67 used xotic. Why you can't use wire transfer? payment method is CHECK and you need to key in 1234 under check number. (for gentech)

Mine never get lower than 75C ever. The worse thing is, mine goes up to 97C on a hot day.

You can try goggling ozgameshop or try to buy games from Steam. ozgameshop can get you very cheap games like 40AUD for a new game or much less for older games. The only problem is, you need to wait for 2 weeks for the game to arrive.

There will be a huge sale on Steam in the middle of this year. You can stock up games on that time too.

I pretty much get games from those places now, as i think, it will help me to save some money. While at the same time, play the game the way it's meant to be played.

The ratio of pirated game to original for me is probably like 1 to 5 now. Thanks to those 2 sites.

*
wooohh shocking.gif that cheap? will check it out later, thanks for the info bro thumbup.gif

Im not sure whether ozgameshop will send games to malaysia, though.

There is an international version called 365games.co.uk.

Never use Winflash, as the chances to fail the BIOS update is very high, according to NBR.

Better use Ezyflash in the BIOS.

hi guys,

I've installed GTA 4 and GTA-EFLC, both pirated =x.
I did all the stuff for pirated games like crack and stuff but the game still crashed.

Just wondering if you guys updated the driver for GTX460m from Nvidia website.

Seriously, you can afford to buy an Asus RoG laptop and now, you are using it to play pirated?

Shame on you. Original games are not as expensive as you think.

This is for sure the hardware problem, and it might be the motherboard itself. Or the problem with the mini pci-e slot. The only way to solve this is to send back to Asus, maybe the one at IMBI plaza.

IC Diamond 7 ?
No need special thing if just want to use the rice grain method...
If want to spread method, then something like a card ?

Maybe some isopropyl alcohol if the current thermalpaste become hard to remove..

rice grain is put a dot in the middle then just straight put the heatsink back..
while the spread method, you use the card to spread the paste nicely and thinly...

i kinda use a laptop pad, no fan, but its a full aluminum pad, and it does reduce my temps by 2-3 C if my aircon is on (this is aircon vs aircon with pad) in normal room temps, no diff.

i get a slight increase by using a full body aluminium pad on the bottom. But that is only effective in aircon room. I'm pretty sure a pad with fan (especially the cooler master one with the huge fan in the middle and aluminium surface) because
1) the grills smack in the middle on the bottom and its huge
2)its very close to the surface, usually laptops have higher feet to raise the bottom up so air can move freely underneath, but this one is something like the macbook pros, sticks to the bottom so cooler pads will be very effective

btw i get a 2-3C drop with my aluminium pad and aircon... (that's huge for me since usually i can barely get 1C drop on other laptops...)

modify ur whole table. The place where you put laptop cut out that bit, replace with Aluminium/copper slab(aluminium better la... cheaper)

then on the underside make it like heatsink, with fins and everything. If want more power, add fans too xD and maybe some neon ah beng lights

Have you heard?

Seems that the issues are not just with devices connected to SATA ports 2,3,4,5. they said as long as SATA ports 2,3,4,5 are enable in the BIOS then all devices are affected even for hard drives that are connected to port 0,1.

Refresh models should arrived on mid March, model name and specs won't change but it will have a special sticker on the outside of the box indicating they are refresh model.

I heard it from Ken, will get the source soon.. This is worrisome.. SB laptops are taking a long time =(

Oh my god, the agony of waiting..

By then, Nvidia might have released a GTX560M already XD

By the way, is it worth the upgrade to a Intel 6300 despite Malaysia's not very impressive network performance?

1) No, not so far. Mine runs pretty ok. The temps a bit high, though.

2) Yes, either you repaste yourself, or sent to Asus Service Centre

3) When did you buy your G73? A1, A2 or B1?

1) 105 is way too high. You need to repaste.

2) Fix it yourself if possible, if not, you have to send to Asus Service Centre. It's not that hard, if you follow the instruction carefully.

3) That could be the reason. Or your fans are clogged up with dust balls.

1) U have no choice to repaste coz, ur GPU hit the max temp for the card itself.

2)u could send to service centre and let them do the repaste job, coz its their manufacturing line which is applying too few thermal paste, the paste hardly cover 3/4 of the gpu chip itself, since ur laptop still under warranty. I've seen most of the repaste ones, and the temps is not quite satisfying but still its better temp than before repaste.

ICD7 is not available in malaysia, u'll have to order it from overseas or US Ebay.

3) Normal household vacuum is good, i clear my asus vent which is full of dusts with it. U may need to disassemble the back panel and clean from both inside and outside.

2)all ur p0rn stuff transfer out first or keep it somewhere weird with odd file name.

3) Check the service manual. They have all the instructions there.

afag, a SB 2630QM is on par with an i7 920XM, imagine the cost that you saved to obtain such processor power. However, if you are not patient enough, u can jz go for the 1st gen i7's.

Lol, u wouldn't have to tell us that you have a collection of 'ahem ahem' XD

riku, I thought using a vacuum especially household types are not advisable?
After all,the electrostatic produced by vacuum could be harmful to the system.
Please advise.

I tried before. Household vacuum has more powerful suction power. Do it when ur laptop is turned off and backpanel to clean from the inside. and leave it for some moment to let it discharge itself.

Thanks for watching my review. biggrin.gif

It is a stereo speakers.

The sound quality is considered good in that form factor. However, I still recommend you to get a decent 2.1 or 5.1 speakers for home theater set up as this tiny speakers will cost you very much too. If I'm not mistaken, RM210 at Malaysia. smile.gif

Added on February 21, 2011, 5:26 amDang it. My notebook has a problem again. This time is speakers (audio) problem.

The problem details as follow:

1. When I was watching some YouTube videos. suddenly the speakers went MAD as it produced annoying high pitch sound which scared the shit out of me as it happened suddenly. At first, I ignored it and assumed that it would be something wrong to the vid.

2. Few hours later, the sound appeared again while I was listening to my songs. That scared the shit out of me too as it came out of sudden. Dang it!

What do you guys think is wrong with this notebook. sad.gif

All's not well in hybrid solid state storage land, as owners of Seagate's Momentus XT are facing serious issues with their drives -- despite glowing initial reviews, a number of long-term users claim that the drives chirp, crash, stutter, and freeze with alarming regularity, particularly when installed in a Mac. Seagate forumgoers speculate these are symptoms of the XT's magnetic platters spinning down inappropriately, due to an overzealous power management scheme. That's the bad news -- and it sounds pretty bad -- but the good news is this: Seagate's owning up to the issues, and is actively involved in getting them fixed. So far, a pair of new firmware updates have addressed some symptoms, a third is on the way, and a Seagate engineer known only as STX_NB is proactively chatting with affected customers about possible fixes. That's what we call technical support -- take notes, tech companies.

Source : Engadget

It would be either Seagate is in big trouble or better spend on a real SSD.

I have to try reinstall the sound driver.

I didn't carry my notebook to class since I bought this notebook. Thus, it may not due to the damage of the wires.

i guess the problem doesn't occur before u had ur razer speaker installed. I assume u should contact or google razer forum about it.
Same goes to the most g73jh users face, the random lockup from creative software.

yes, there's the potential chance it could be the cause. Check ur device manager/realtek audio manager.

Like my HP Mini 210 netbook has some issue with USB Keyboard. I have to uninstall the USB keyboard driver from device manager and re-plug the usb keyboard then it works again.

But some say that even if it's not connected to any power cords anymore, it still has some charges in the system. Therefore, static shocks might occur and would damage the system gradually.

Do you guys wear any anti-static strap or something like that while cleaning the pc?

By the way, riku, can u elaborate more by what you meant from

'Heat issue and the bomb value of the GPUs.'

I'm interested also why ASUS never decide to use a slightly better GPU like 470M when it is almost the same as 460M.

I'm interested also why ASUS never decide to use a slightly better GPU like 470M when it is almost the same as 460M.
*
U never heard of GTX 480m heat? The initial GTX 480m is cooled by 2 GPU fans according to Eurocom initial GTX 480m equipped laptop. I guess u never know the Nvidia cards are always expensive than radeon cards by a big margin for a similiar performance + gimmick.

Dell Alienware is not even using GTX 480m/470m due to 2 reasons - heat issue and high power consumption... in other words heavier+ bigger power brick. The same reason probably goes to Asus R&D as well. GTX 460m is the ones which is balance in temperature + power consumption.

Thanks Riku for the explanation =)

Yes,I've heard of the heat issue from 480m before, it's quite exaggerating when I found out. I remember I saw a video advertisement before that teases Fermi GPUs with extreme heat issues, haha.

I do know that Nvidia is always more expensive than ATI Radeons which have similar performance but it seems to me that many people stick to Nvidia for stability reasons, isn't it?

Somehow,I still prefer the 460M as compared to the 5870 XD

Since the 460M is balanced, a 470M isn't balanced?
Both the 460M and 470M do share the same TDP after all..

But heat is a concern, and the cost of a 470m is a problem that they have to increase the price of the overall laptop. As well as more copper oz to be fitted for cooling.

Well,470m is a lot more expensive than the 460m?
With the slight bump in performance than the 460m,it shouldn't be isn't it?

But you're right, definitely the amount of copper to be used will be more in 470m.

Thanks for the explanation.

Now, is there going to be any ASUS gaming laptops that will stock with the 2720QM instead of the entry 2630QM?
Upgrading is just costly =(

No, core i7 2720QM is require upgrade, unless u could find some OEM Reseller from eBay with cheaper price but ur own labour installing and repasting.

Sigh, having a nice ASUS lappy with 2720QM will be too costly that I might turn to Sagers instead..

I loved the stealth jet design so much but the upgrade is just not worth it after I see the upgrade cost for the Sagers.

Headache @_@

depends. you need that performance boost from 2630 > 2720 so much? Imo its down to whether you're willing to cut back on some power for the design, and for me the power is enough. even on the 740qm.

Ya ya, G73 still rocks mad!! =)
Anyway,I hope the G74 may hav Optimus enabled though I tink it wun b possible.
Surely,I highly suspect that the G74 may be equipped with the 6970 since no GTX560m is available until 3rd quarter of d year..

DoubleU,yes I nid the performance boost due to my work on video edit and converting. Plus,I do use softwares like Photoshop,AUTOCAD etc for my dad once in a while, so it's essential to me XD

Not forgetting PCSX2,the performance boost would be vital if I wan to play games like God Of War 2 =x

Attention to G53JW users, if u face some sudden shutdown issue, please check both of ur fans. There's a probability of the fan fail to spin and resulting the computer to force sudden shutdown. Please Take notice of this as some of the G53JW units are facing such issue.

I mentioned. its SOME not ALL. So depends on ur luck. If it ever fails, check ur fans. It could be either the CPU Fan or the GPU fan is no spinning.

The fan speed depends on the load on the cpu and the gpu both fans spin at different rpm so one side may be faster than the other i think haha

I wouldn't comment much on that as i'm still waiting Intel to release G53 Sandy Bridge.

Oh yeah, and G73JH users. If ur thinking of repasting, do the repaste. However, bear in mind that repaste may not provide u the best/lowest temperature as the GPU card itself runs very HOT.

Hi guys need some of your advice.

My G53jw cannot be turn on.
When i switch on the power, the power led is on, no display, the HDD led is off then after a while the fans turn on and still no display.

Do you guys think that it is the hard disk problem?
Please help.

NO display could lead to potential GPU died. Yes, there are several user Gx3JW users had their GPU fried.
Could be ur hdd. try boot with some USB stick or linux to testify ur HDD still alive or not.

OK. I solve the problem by hard resetting it where I
Remove Power Adapter & Battery. Press Power button for 30-45sec
plug adapter and battery. restart

However do any of you guys know why this happen, is it because of overheating of the hardware or software/bios problem?

I am afraid that this would happen again and would cause permanent damage. Thanks for the help.

if BIOS screen doesn't appear, could be ram problem too. My computer had a few times had the problem, then can use awhile, then the problem again. Then i change the ram, until now don't have the problem.

I know that, as the temperature relies a lot on your ambiance temperature, the game you are playing and so on.

It is a fact that 5870 is very hot.

I just hope mine will never exceed 100C.

JB service centre, plz ask DoubleU. He warranted his G53JW at JB Asus Service centre.

Btw, G74 is confirmed will make appearance at CeBIT 2011 (few days away only). And Gary Key from NBR hinted G53 as "Refreshed Unit" will get AMD Card. biggrin.gif That's good news for me. laugh.gif

imo its better to call ASUS to arrange their free pickup service and they will send the laptop to the one in KL. Dun recommend going to highpoint. (unless you stay near giant plentong there)

Riku, you mentioned that there will be a refreshed product of G53 right?
Any idea what GPU will be implemented in the refreshed G53?
An ATI 6970?
*
ATi naming is no longer valid. Its AMD now.
AMD 6950m speculated to be the ones in G74. AMD 6870m might be in refresh G53/73.
AMD 6970m has high wattage consumption resulting in some high wattage power supply. Unless Asus do something about it.

All these are just rumors from Gary key and NBR members. I've no valid source yet... though Gary Key words are usually accurate. Just wait for CeBit 2011. Pretty sure, there's something gonna be happening.

JB service centre, plz ask DoubleU. He warranted his G53JW at JB Asus Service centre.

Btw, G74 is confirmed will make appearance at CeBIT 2011 (few days away only). And Gary Key from NBR hinted G53 as "Refreshed Unit" will get AMD Card. biggrin.gif That's good news for me. laugh.gif

I guess the wait was worth it. That G74 is a nvidia version. I can see the display spec was G74JX 3D. Pretty sure it should be nvidia graphic but... better wait for official spec.

hm, i rather not have a matte screen. Also the vents i think don't look as good. But the overall profile much sleeker.
Also is this a finished unit? or will they matte the whole surface too?

and is that lightpeak/thunderbolt ports on the left side?

Still its 1x usb3.0 and 2x usb 2.0 . laugh.gif

I actually like the new keyboard layout. The keys are more spaced while the current G73 keyboard is very crammed. I tend to press the wrong button sometimes, especially near the numpad. I remember once i was playing NFS Shift, i was holding the Shift key instead of the the accelerate key when the race starts.

Larger vents, i think it's good, as you get more space to dissipate heat, but more chance for dust to settle inside too.

I also like the new speaker grill, as the old dust magnet speaker grill is gone. Mine is pretty much trapped with lots of dust particle. Not that pretty, but not really a big complain.

The new screen hinge is good too, as the old one is difficult to clean.

All i care is it can take the games i play well, im happy.

G74 looks cooler overall, but it lost the Stealth Fighter look.

I just hope Asus make G74 easier to dissemble, and also better cooling. Specs will be juicy as usual. If it has 2TB HDD space with Sandy Bridge and 560 for 6k sounds, it does sounds really good.

Yeap, the old vent completes the Stealth Fighter looks. The new ones seems to resemble Sport Car more. Reminds me of Zonda + Ferrari. sweat.gif Still, we'll see how it priced. More waiting. doh.gif

i prefer the front design of the G74, the keyboard especially since they removed the side sloping design. keyboard looks unremovable and more solid.

But the grills at the back... not vicious anymore.
battery looks to be like the old dell laptops, where its fitted on the bottom. (that silver shiny thing)

i wonder about the G54

G54 should be 5-6 months later than G74. At least they make things less complicated this time. Everything is accessible form bottom cover.

Some G74SX 3D Pictures spams.

This 1GB 560m will most probably be on par with the 460m and would be worse at higher resolutions..

First impression:
Nice! I love the design especially the layout of the keyboard. The area around the keyboard was made of a very solid feeling aluminium which is dang cool. However, I'm not sure whether this is the final design as the keyboard was a dummy and didn't function at all. sweat.gif

Besides that, the speakers grill also made of aluminium. My guess is Asus want to solve the easily trapped and spotted dust in the minute speaker's mesh? hmm.gif

The cover has almost the same material with G53.
