Are we going to see a G series laptop with a stock i7 2720QM?
Hopefully, there's a G53 with 2720QM XD

April is such a long time!
By that time, Nvidia might be ready to release a better GPU than the GTX460M. Then, we'll have to wait again.. Then, Ivy Bridge comes.. I'm not playing this game of patience for long XD |

Have you heard?
Seems that the issues are not just with devices connected to SATA ports 2,3,4,5. they said as long as SATA ports 2,3,4,5 are enable in the BIOS then all devices are affected even for hard drives that are connected to port 0,1. Refresh models should arrived on mid March, model name and specs won't change but it will have a special sticker on the outside of the box indicating they are refresh model. I heard it from Ken, will get the source soon.. This is worrisome.. SB laptops are taking a long time =( |

Oh my god, the agony of waiting..
By then, Nvidia might have released a GTX560M already XD By the way, is it worth the upgrade to a Intel 6300 despite Malaysia's not very impressive network performance? |

afag, a SB 2630QM is on par with an i7 920XM, imagine the cost that you saved to obtain such processor power. However, if you are not patient enough, u can jz go for the 1st gen i7's.
Lol, u wouldn't have to tell us that you have a collection of 'ahem ahem' XD riku, I thought using a vacuum especially household types are not advisable? After all,the electrostatic produced by vacuum could be harmful to the system. Please advise. |

But some say that even if it's not connected to any power cords anymore, it still has some charges in the system. Therefore, static shocks might occur and would damage the system gradually.
Do you guys wear any anti-static strap or something like that while cleaning the pc? By the way, riku, can u elaborate more by what you meant from 'Heat issue and the bomb value of the GPUs.' I'm interested also why ASUS never decide to use a slightly better GPU like 470M when it is almost the same as 460M. |

Thanks Riku for the explanation =)
Yes,I've heard of the heat issue from 480m before, it's quite exaggerating when I found out. I remember I saw a video advertisement before that teases Fermi GPUs with extreme heat issues, haha. I do know that Nvidia is always more expensive than ATI Radeons which have similar performance but it seems to me that many people stick to Nvidia for stability reasons, isn't it? Somehow,I still prefer the 460M as compared to the 5870 XD Since the 460M is balanced, a 470M isn't balanced? Both the 460M and 470M do share the same TDP after all.. |

Well,470m is a lot more expensive than the 460m?
With the slight bump in performance than the 460m,it shouldn't be isn't it? But you're right, definitely the amount of copper to be used will be more in 470m. Thanks for the explanation. Now, is there going to be any ASUS gaming laptops that will stock with the 2720QM instead of the entry 2630QM? Upgrading is just costly =( |

Sigh, having a nice ASUS lappy with 2720QM will be too costly that I might turn to Sagers instead..
I loved the stealth jet design so much but the upgrade is just not worth it after I see the upgrade cost for the Sagers. Headache @_@ |

Ya ya, G73 still rocks mad!! =)
Anyway,I hope the G74 may hav Optimus enabled though I tink it wun b possible. Surely,I highly suspect that the G74 may be equipped with the 6970 since no GTX560m is available until 3rd quarter of d year.. DoubleU,yes I nid the performance boost due to my work on video edit and converting. Plus,I do use softwares like Photoshop,AUTOCAD etc for my dad once in a while, so it's essential to me XD Not forgetting PCSX2,the performance boost would be vital if I wan to play games like God Of War 2 =x |

I wonder if there will be a G54 as well =x
Riku, you mentioned that there will be a refreshed product of G53 right? Any idea what GPU will be implemented in the refreshed G53? An ATI 6970? |

DoubleU,u need that performance as well? =x
This 1GB 560m will most probably be on par with the 460m and would be worse at higher resolutions.. OMG~ |

Well, I actually wanted to wait for the 15 incher G53 but still no news, sad..
But I checked out the G53 naked eye 3D, it's so damn cool, I bet the price would be even 'cooler' =_=" Any idea when the G53SW will be ready for sale? Why ASUS refuse to release a laptop with 2720QM instead? I don't get it. Imagine the upgrade cost @_@ |

Well,it would only cost them a little to actually do a tiny upgrade isn't it?
It's just that if we chose to upgrade it through our vendors, it costs averagely USD 399 @_@ If ASUS G53 released something like the Sager 8150-S1; another version of the Sager 8150,I'd buy it immediately XD |

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Mar 10 2011, 09:32 AM) Most standard SB laptop comes with 2630QM. just like the first batch of G73JH that comes default with 720QM. The most entry level quad mobile processor. Ya, I will consider this properly since I find the upgrade quite crucial. Everyone using the same 2630QM won't be fun after all XDI have to agree Asus is pricing the upgrade a little too high compared to sager. U could go for Sager for cheaper upgrade and others. But Sager 8150 doesn't have any overclocking or power saving buttons like the G53 and G73 right? Do advice me, thank you =) |

Seriously?
I thought even though u tilt ur head, the camera will catch ur movement and will still feature the 3D effect to its viewer/viewers? Added on March 17, 2011, 8:43 pm QUOTE(riku2replica @ Mar 17 2011, 06:01 PM) GTX 460m is unable to deliver smooth gameplay on most Games at FullHD beyond 120 fps. The only way is to reduce the lcd panel to a lower resolution ones to enable fluent gameplay. Well,if they do that to the G53, why not to the G73 as well?I wouldn't say that. Its going to be G74/54 taking the slots already by the time comes. I mean, both use the GTX 460m after all. I thought the reason was because they weren't abundant of FHD 3D screens at that time? The G54 or final refresh of the G53 better use a more powerful GPU than the GTX460m. This post has been edited by lonelywolf90: Mar 17 2011, 08:43 PM |

Ya, I agree with you on that point. Newer models are usually meant to be better than their predecessors.
But still even now, the G73SW 3D is in FHD while the G53 is still in HD. In this case, it doesn't seem that the GPU is making the G53 be implemented with 3D HD screens. The only time when the G53 will be in FHD 3D is end of this year, right? With the naked eye 3D since 15 inch naked eye will be released 1st. |
