I would like to ask about how can i obtain or register a credit card as a student that has no income but will be working starting from next month.
I'm planning on getting a digi iphone plan based on installment and require a credit card to obtain this plan.
Will be using the i phone for working purposes and would be a vital matter to me if i was able to obtain it...
Thanks =)

You must first get at least 2 or 3 months payslip then only can try to apply cc.
You may ask for a supplementary card from your parents/siblings if any one of them is a principal cardholder.

You need to have al least RM18K annual income (or RM1.5K/month)to qualify. And you need to be 21 years old.

Having said the above, if you are 21 years and above, and don't have steady income. you can deposit money into fixed deposit and pledge it for credit limit. And if you have RM200K better still, you can open a privilige banking account and they will issue you a credit card. Go talk to your bank.

my recommendation is worry about credit card after you finish school.

OT: if the iphone is vital for your work, then the company should issue a unit to you. my recommendation for your case is get a second hand 2G or 3G unit which is cheaper than 3GS and should be good enough for your work and you don't need a credit card to sign up for DiGi iphone Plan (no phone just call/data plan or prepaid).

Information for UOB Card members - lunch and dinner set for 2 at RM88++ and RM168++ respectively at Westin, Parkroyal, Nikko and Pavillion.

Click here to see UOB Dinning Offer in pdf format.

I took up the offer at Prego Westin Hotel KL last Friday. The UOB dinner set comes with beef for main course and I don't take beef. So if interested to go take up the offer, do call the restuarant to check what's on the menu. Click below to read about my dinner smile.gif

Good attempt but I have to disagree with you on some of your selections.

Disagree. It should be OCBC Titanium MC. Tesco-RHB and Giant-Citibank CCs only give 2% cash back at Tesco and Giant respectively, whereas OCBC Titanium MC gives 5% cash back at all hypermarkets and supermarkets.

QUOTE(JamesPond @ Jan 17 2011, 02:45 PM)

Disagree. Amex's 15% cash back promotion is temporary and will be ending on 28/2.

Disagree. The cash back given is based on denomination of RM1. If you spend RM199, you will only get RM1 cash back.

Disagree. That is a temporary promotion and it can be withdrawn anytime.

citi-giant card earns 8% cashback on weekends. Although not published officially, but it has been like that for many months.
Furthermore, the cashback is uncapped.

As far as I know, cash back for HLB VISA Essential is based on spending per block of every RM100. If you spend RM100 - RM199, you will get RM1 cash back. If you spend RM99, you will get NOTHING.

This was the information I obtained from HLB when I intended to apply for this card last year. But this definitely drove me away!

But then, it is only applicable to Giant, not all hypermarkets and supermarkets. Therefore, it doesn't really fit the "best card for groceries" category.

I'm just trying to elaborate on citi-giant card. I didn't intend to push it as best groceries card, ok.

Previously CIMB cc holders with over RM 75k credit limit entitled as Preferred customer, I wondered if it is still applicable now?

For MBB WMC, card holders entitled for priority service at any branch just by showing the cc itself.
