As far as I know, cash back for HLB VISA Essential is based on spending per block of every RM100. If you spend RM100 - RM199, you will get RM1 cash back. If you spend RM99, you will get NOTHING.

This was the information I obtained from HLB when I intended to apply for this card last year. But this definitely drove me away!

You have been badly misinformed by the CS. I have own Essential since its inception and it's 'generous' to say the least.

Refer below :

USAGE REBATE
===============

3683.18 - 37
1734.02 - 18
2256.22 - 23
2757.14 - 28
3898.58 - 39

Don't you think the rounding up is pretty generous? icon_idea.gif

All this rebates are making me crazy / dizzy . rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

I want a card with UNLIMITED 5% cash rebate EVERY DAY of the week on ALL transactions. Saves me a lot of thinking at the cashier. What day is it? Which card have I max out? etc etc.

Wish a bank would come up with a card like that to counter all these card wars. rclxms.gif

No. No insurance company accepts AMEX.

Thanks a lot. Then will use my Essential Visa to settle the premiums. Thought using MBB2 Amex can get back 5x Treat Points - equivalent to almost 2.5% rebate . tongue.gif

For ING, you can apply for this EON Bank INGIAFAM-EON Bank credit card. You will get 2% rebate on the premium paid. The first year credit card tax cannot be waived but for the subsequent years, yes it can be waived. Read more here > Renewal Bonus
Yes. It is 2% rebate for Titanium card and 3% for Platinum. If you can charge at least RM10k into the card (anything and not just Great Eastern premiums) , they will also give you a renewal bonus of RM50 to offset the credit card service tax.
*
Oh, Titanium can get a 2% rebate, that's great, I didnt know that . I only knew they had an OCBC-Great Eastern card or something like that . Anyway, it's not feasible to me to take the card as my Great Eastern is only about 4k a year.

haha, in case the tax cannot be reimbursed, sweetpea you gotta do some calculation liao.
Your HLB essential gives 1% cashback, but PBB-ING gives 2%. This means, your ING premium must be worth RM5000 then only can justify that GST RM50. Get one more card just want to earn a few bucks? Worth or not worth you think twice.
*
Yes chemistry , u r right. Not worth it for a few bucks savings. tongue.gif

Miles was saying OCBC-GE-Titanium got 2% cashback on GE premiums; while OCBC-GE-Platinum got 3%.
These are co-brand cards yo.
*
Oh co-brand cards tongue.gif , I thought the OCBC Titanium ..haha. Nvm, will just use Essential to pay the premiums. Or maybe apply Standard Chartered Business Plat where I can get 1% cash rebate and also a guaranteed photo frame. thumbup.gif

But you can still use the card for other expenses. For example, you will get at least 0.75% cash back on all other expenses which is better than many other VISA and MasterCard in the market. On top of that, you will also get 1.5% rebate on tuition and medical fees.

Thanks bro for all the suggestions.

In the CIMB bank flyer that comes together with the statement, it says BURGER KING - 10% discount off total bill everyday throughout the year. Very confusing since it comes under the heading REBATE 10% every Sunday along with the KFC logo. Don't know how to upload pix here tongue.gif

For Burger King, I believe you get 10% at the counter every day, and get an additional 10% rebate on the statement for Sunday spending. Not a mistake.

Also, this flyer (not exactly this one, but weekend rebates) existed even when petrol had a rebate. The petrol was a separate flyer for DA MC only.

currently holding DA VI, Essential , OCBC Tit, will most probably cut Essential for MBB2 Amex since rebates for Amex is almost 2.5% (depending on what voucher you redeem) but the problem is card acceptance. The points for MBB2 Visa is shakehead.gif . I long for the day when ONE card is sufficient, I want the PERFECT card....

By the way, TM is really efficient (in email at least) . I got my reply pertaining to the RM2 and RM4 rebate. rclxms.gif

Thank you for contacting TM.

Referring to your e-mail dated 18th January 2011 on autopay rebate status, we have received feedback from our respective department. We would like to inform that rebate of RM 2 per service line for autopay service will be given to the customers based on the following criteria:

1. Customer is tagged under autopay service
2. Successful payment received through autopay service based on the POC tagging
3. Minimum payment received per account is RM 20 and above.
4. Rebate is given per service line
5. Rebate will only be updated in the following month bill based on the payment received in current month. It shows ? Diskaun Autopay (Pekej C)

Please be inform that you have 2 service line which is Streamyx and fixed line. Kindly noted that you will be given RM4.00 rebate for every successful transaction more that RM20 every month. Upon checking in system, we found that payment for January bill with amount RM53.05 was made on 14th January 2011. Therefore, rebate will be reflected on your February bill. Kindly be advise to check your February bill for rebate status. Should you have any other enquiry or issue, you may revert to us for further assistance.

Wt about online bill payment on weekends? Or do we have to pay over the counter for it to qualify as a RETAIL transaction ?

Online transaction is one type of retail transactions. We have highlighted this many times here.

I know BUT not according to MBB CS ( I called), but of course, she can always be wrong as in 3-4 OCBC CS giving me wrong info that calculation is based on calendar month and NOT statement date. I guess the only way to be sure of all these is when we get the actual statement. Just double checking here cos petrol and online payment are top of my spendings. smile.gif

If you don't trust both forummers and CS officers, then it is no point to ask questions here as you won't be satisfied with whatever answer you receive. As per what you mentioned, it would be better to wait until the statement comes then you get the definite anwer.
*
I trust certain forummers MORE than CS actually biggrin.gif , my reason for asking is just to see if any one experienced the same answer that MBB CS gave me. Different banks may impose different rules as to what "retail transaction" is, and since this is a discussion forum, I don't think there is a better channel to ask. While I value your feedback, I think sarcasm is not necessary. Thank you and have a good day.

Can you suggest any bill payee accept Amex?
IINM PayOnline only accepts Visa/MC.
Neither can you pay bills via Amex Online, like OCBC Online, Citibank Online etc..
*
Yes, I conveniently overlooked the AMEX card acceptance for bill payment. Sorry about that tongue.gif

As you are well aware that this Maybankard 2 is a very new card and nobody here owns it now. If based on experience on other cash back cards from OCBC, Alliance and SCB, online payments are entitled to cash back.

I have gone through the T&C b4 I posted but I found none stating online payment being categorised as retail or otherwise, maybe perhaps I have conveniently overlooked it as being accepted for bill payments in the first place which I apologise. Hope everyone gets up on the right side of the bed tomorrow. tongue.gif
