what should a professional financial planner that wants to look good in formal clothes with tie and shows a sense of professionalism and well elegant taste watch with a budget of hm, lets say 5k

I would go for Maurice Lacroix Pontos. Add a bit of $$ you can perhaps snag the chrono version.

Some deals here - http://collectorstime.com/maurice-lacroix.php

For < RM 5K, get Maurice lacroix Les Classique range. In-house movement, swiss made, no overprice celebrity endorsement.

Or get Tissot Visodate ard >RM 2K. (pls note it is mass produced ETA movement, but to the untrained eyes it still look good.

When you are managerial post,

Try to get Jaeger Master Piece Ultra Thin, Audermar Piguet Jules.

When you have been made partner,

Then Patek Phillipe Calatrava, Piaget Altiplano

Regards,

Xuzen

What is wrong with the Couterier? I have one too... it is a decent watch, I use it as part of formal wear.

Xuzen, there's nth wrong with the couturier. The thing is... There's not much "soul" to it I feel. Probably because it was mass produced.

Spent the whole evening having this bloody watch twinkling in my face. It's an Omega, like the moonwatch but without the chrono function. It has a saphire crystal, and i almost forgot how reflective uncoated saphire is.

I am convinced now that acrylic is a better choice then uncoated saphire.

Belongs to the CFO.

Added on September 7, 2011, 11:57 pmoh btw the cfo came in a suit, if anyone wants to know.

he gingerly took it off, held it by the collar then carefully folded it before placing in on the seat beside him. it is a bespoke.

Added on September 8, 2011, 12:01 amthe omega is very twinkly! the hour indices sparkle incessantly.

However, most of the nice reddot award watches are in the Master series. Also, i think most of the inhouse movement is in the master series. The onther less pricey stuff liek classic/star series are not inhouse movements.

Their less classique lines do not use their in house movements. Only their masterpiece lines do. Others are decorated stock movements. Nevertheless the pontos day date is nice, below 5k after discount.
