whats the price locally?
local AD not able to order?
my understanding local AD prices usually better than overseas esp with Ball watch.

Local offering 25% discount, so Jura's prices is not too bad actually. Is Jura a dependable seller based on your experience?

Swatch group also have yr end sale going on. they carry many brands, so how much nicer? U want richemont and Frank Muller group to do that?
Richemont don't have that, but Frank Muller group often have huge sales going around thru AD with discounts as steep as 70%.
Rolex forget it!
someone did report going on those and getting longines for 50% off.
*
Longines 50% off?! shocking.gif I knew I should have followed this thread a little more closely.... would have made a good gift for the wife instead of Oris @ 30% off only.. sigh.

Went around looking for another rubber strap watch... and came across THIS...

Noticed it's based on Sellita movement (Sw200) with 26 jewels... any thoughts on this compared to say the ETA 2824-2?

Appreciate any comments/thoughts on this model in general.

Oh and anyone know of any shops in the klang valley area offering discount on Oris higher then 30%? notworthy.gif

Do that comparison its really comparing apple to oranges.

Cheapest JLC is ~us$4k or a mid range Tag.
*
JLC produced the 2nd (?) most complicated wristwatch in the world... doesnt seem fair to compare it to.. Tag.

Actually, what you get is normally what you paid for.
If you wanna save and get Chinese watches, be prepared and not expect swiss quality...
But I am impressed with the China made....clone?
Everything is a copy except the finishing...
*
Um... original copies from China comes in many different grade i understand, those u find in Sungei Wang/petalign street for RM150 omega seems to be the lower grades. Those "replica" costing upto ~RM1k is more liek grade AA and hard to tell the difference for the untrained eyes. Anyone have experienced with such higher quality replicas?

(I know of a friend who got some LV replicas bags costing about 30% of real LV for his wife from korea, even the LV store sales girl in KL is hard pressed to tell the difference...)

I don't get 30% from one of the watch shop in pavilion.
*
Try MV. I told her 30% and I take it, she says OK. Otherwise they will try to peddle the 20~25% "official" discount.

Thanks for that tips.

Generally the 30% for ORIS BC3 advanced or all range of ORIS watches?

if it is not too trouble, appreciate if you can PM me the shop name in MV  rclxms.gif
*
30% For all Oris, even those limited edition they will initially tell you.. "Limited lah 10% only"... still can get 20~% easily.

Both Watatime/Watchshop also can. Same.

sharing your pic , richardson :-)

everytime i see watch with roman numero , like I , II , III , and so forth ...i never saw number 4

4 = IV

it will replaced with IIII

any idea why ? is there any history behind this ?
*
Well I wouldnt say never, I'm sure there are some out therte with "IV".

Anyway, I would think the reasoning behind it is purely symmetry.

Although some might argue "IV" being the symbol for jupiter (ala a god), its not right to be used etc etc..

I like it you have a clear aim without any additional pretension. Then you should go for those Rolex, Omega etc brand that every uncle on the street knows. Anything more ... unique.. would be a waste of time.

quartz vs mech/Auto?
a quick summary
- quartz more accurate than mech
- mech more expensive than quartz
- resale value of quartz is weaker than mech
- it cost more to service a mech
- it takes 30mins to change a battery, a mech full service is at least 1 week long
- change battery every 2-3yrs for quartz, mech service interval is every 5yrs
- water get into movement - quartz may need a replacement. Mech just a service and re-oil.
Summary, in a practical/logical world, no one should ever buy a mech watch as a quartz is superior in almost every sense!

So.... now we know what kinda world we live in brows.gif
