Btw good VRM should help when OC especially playing with high voltage. Am I right?

VRM ? I dont know much about this motherboard.Starting to learn'
Plan to get this motherboard with 2500k and OC to 4.1Ghz or 4.3Ghz to test some games which really need for 60fps.I see those review but they are not from malaysia.
Now everyday weather so hot , different from malaysia weather when comes to temp.

Still waiting for someone who own this board.Hm.... unsure.gif

Guys, im new to overclocking, Just got a Intel i5 2500k with Asus p8z68-v/gen3.

Tried last night.

4.5ghz at 1.35v. passed 10 Intel Burn Test maximum.

But the temp reaching 78`c.

So i went to 4.3ghz at 1.25v. passed Intel Burn test.

Max tempt at 67-70`c.

So i decided to put at 4.3ghz.

But when playing BF3 for an hour, i see the max temp only around 50`c.

Something wrong?
Is my overclocking okay?

Thanks for inputs! smile.gif

it's normal as stress test like LinX & prime95 is more stressful than games.
Games only utilize certain percentage of cores but stress tests will load 100%

I'm using I7-2600K and Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3. I did 4.5GHz with 1.395V-1.4V to get it stable with LinX for 10 loops. I did set LLC 6 to make it stable

I flashed latest mobo bios and try to start over from zero. I did try to boot 4.5GHz with Vcore 1.44, I didn't set LLC and when i boot into Windows, i found out that there is a vdroop to 1.392V load and 1.425V idle. After I did stress with Prime95 and it BSOD with error 124 (i know i need to increase vcore). Any suggestion on it to what should I do? If I set LLC to max - Level 10, will it be help? Will it damaged my mobo since I force constant voltage? smile.gif FYI, i turned off all the features such as C1E, EIST and so on.

Guys, im new in this overclocking stuff and spec as siggy shown.

so i7 2600k i try to put on 4.5Ghz on 1.255v izzit too low for stability ??

I m very new in this overclock stuff...so someone please guild me ...T.T

Previously what i had done... i put 4.5ghz on 1.38v and run Prime95 for 8 hours+ and no error which is good...but i try to do some rendering on twilight after 20 minutes the com reboot itself..any clue of this happening?

Do i need to DISABLE the CPU SPECTRUM to get the chip stable??

Try increasing the vcore slowly and test for stability. Well there are tons of information in this thread, don't be lazy and go read it up. As for the CPU SPECTRUM, it's better to leave it disable. If the comp reboots itself, there may be many factors.
1. Temp
2. Unstable OC

what i had try is using the Intel Burn in test..I try normal and high both passed.

But once i try Very high, my rig automatically reboot. that's mean not stable??

Do i need to do the test until Maximum setting and yet passed?

did u get BSOD or the PC just shut down itself?
if BSOD, pls refer to 1st post for error code.
if no BSOD, that might be VRM overheating & your BIOS will direct mobo to shut down to avoid burning.

Hi,new to overclock and want to know if this situation considered OK.
Running my i5 2500k @ 4ghz overclock using xmp asus tuner, the multiplier set on 40x at idle and full load - speedstep enable. I set core voltage 1.21, temperature idle 40, full load 66. spec as sig

Using manual tuner the multiplier jump 16x to 40x which is normal but i get higher temp on full load@ 77 same core voltage.

So Otai critics is really appreciated. thank you.

this temp is pretty normal for air cooling when stressing.

As i said before,IBT don't reflect real world workload so your temperature in real world is much lower one smile.gif

hi,

i was wondering, can intel desktop board be used for overclocking? for example, IntelĀ® Desktop Board DP67BA. its a p67 based, so does the bios allow for overclocking? let's say, paired with a "K" processor.
