i7 2600k stock speed setting: high vdrop or low vdrop is better for 24/7 folding?

I got the same issue with my old MIVE B2 last time.
I couldn't change the BCLK some ppl told me that IME part of the BIOS chip is corrupted.
Pls update Intel Management Engine (IME): http://downloadmirror.intel.com/20261/eng/....14.1107_PV.exe
*
The problem fixed finally.

Still got one error. the mobo display code 53 error definetly. This can be avoid if i dun plug any ram in slot number 3. Any solution for this?

I use asus gene z.

guys OCing an i7 2600k on a MSI Z68MA-ED55 mainboard, cooling it with a H50 dual fan push-pull setup

pushing it at 4.2MHz and the CPU temperature went up to 74-81c at full load. is that normal? stressing it wit prime95 for about 5min and couldn't bare to continue looking at the temperature, had to stop it right away.

some advice on cooling or maybe a better oc settings? mainly use for rendering

4.2 ghz no need 1.33v kua. Yesterday I pump my old skool to 4.5 ghz with 1.3v on H60 single fan. During folding and after 5 hrs +++, i get max 66'c oni.

Previously, i fold using stock speed 3.5ghz <1.08v 24/7 for 3 months +++ and temp remain 55'c max for 3 months.

Maybe i7 quite dependent on stock vid. My stock vid is 1.26v. Can check with coretemp.

hehe nvm, btw thx biggrin.gif
i'll post the best and stable vcore i can get for 4.5Ghz

Added on August 1, 2011, 4:49 amshould i set the VRM frequency to manual in asus bios setting?

Added on August 1, 2011, 6:45 amhmmm  hmm.gif
my current speed is at 4.5Ghz at 1.29V now, and it is stable with IBT and Linx test..
last time i am able to stable it at 1.25V with Linx, but i try to download IBT and  try to stress with it.
it become un-stable and need to change the vcore to 1.29v sad.gif
*
1.25v is possible if u turn off ht. rclxms.gif

im also using air-cooling biggrin.gif coolermaster v6gt heatsink
but i dont know what problem is this, using Linx my voltage 1.25v is stable, but when im using IBT it's not stable and need to increase voltage..
*
1.25v is not possible for 4.5ghz if folding. He/she will fail the work unit but no BSOD. This means unstable setting generally.

1.29v+-0.005 is my i7 4.5ghz favor voltage for 24/7 brutally stress. (100% loaded in 8 threads 24/7 thumbup.gif thumbup.gif )

should we reduce internal pl voltage? If can, lowering the pLl will improve my cpu temp?

Added on August 23, 2011, 12:09 amgonna rape this i7 in no time, just make sure i got a stable setting for 24/7 folding.

Intel default CPU PLL is 1.8v which is a lil bit high. As long as it's higher than vCore u're u good to go, but depends on chip too.
Some chips really need extra CPU PLL to stable at higher clock.
I set it down to 1.7v to shave off my temps lower.
*
tested and the temp reduce to 60'c max with 1.6v PLL rclxms.gif

Got a question about LLC: do you guys set it to High, UltraHigh or Extreme?
*
i tested all the three thru intel burn test and folding, no effects at all to cpu temp and also the stability. hmm.gif

Hmmmm... looks like from your table that setting LLC to UltraHigh will cancel out the vdroop so that vcore cpuz = bios. Will use that setting then.
Thanks.
*
looks like it works for 1.45v vcore and above only. drool.gif

test run all the setting in bios from A to Z and from z to A again and again. Default setting is still the best for folding and intel burn test. 1.3v 4.5ghz =60'c with 30k pts perday. EPU shows 60.23wattage for cpu only.

not really though. my experience is when i put vcore 1.305 (bios) with LLC high: on prime95 cpu-z shows vcore 1.280 fluctuating 1.296. However when i put LLC ultrahigh with same vcore the cpu-z vcore will be more stable around 1.3.

Also, on LLC high prime 95 will snap after less than 1 hour. On LLC ultrahigh prime 95 can hold for 3 hours plus.
*
LLC high , ultra high or extreme make the rig unstable till folding hang but no bsod. The cpu voltage fluctrated to 1.28 and peak at 1.34 when i set to ultra high or extreme.

Now set to auto with 1.305v constant vcore. so far folding nvr hang.
