If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. If you are SURE the battery not depleted and got the DEAD N8, send to NCC for checking as it might be defective hardware related issues.
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

For restoration, uninstall all the mods then install the "Camera Mod Restore.sis" to restore back the original camera setting.

4. From what I've observed the phone AMOLED will start to turn off start at "ST BLACK-04.bmp", "ST BLACK-03.bmp", "ST BLACK-02.bmp", "ST BLACK-01.bmp",
"ST BLACK-00.bmp".
5. The screen dark "stains" will sufface as well during these few color cards.
6. Start from "ST BLACK-05.bmp" onward the dark "stains" will be not so visible.
7. All these have to be done in total darkness room as these defective "stains" are not visible at all when the surrounding are bright.
After you seen these result DO NOT simply bash N8 straight away as we're not sure why/how the AMOLED display technology work and how it perform on other
devices. Anyone can use these color cards to verify on others AMOLED display devices as well...

04. Call Logs missing even set to keep for 30 days.(CONFIRMED) - Logs over flooded by network connection logs. - Logs having limited overall entry although set to keep for 30 days.

y cant i mark several files 2gether.can only mark single or mark all
and if i mark all, there's no option to move the files, only got create new folder.the only way is to copy all the files over then delete the original files

just finished downloading spiderman and i must say.. Its pretty darn impressive. The best game i played on n8 so far. No lags at all and super smooth. Got very nice combos too. My screenshots.. Play it. Brilliant. Looks like I'll be stopping angry birds for a while.

This one I have to do myself. Need to find out which button does what, how to control aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance etc. Which means I need to read the manual.
Once I get the basic operations done, then I surely will invite you to go jalan jalan then can try out 60D vs 550D.
White balance is in the menu button. U just need read the quick guide. ISO mine is on top 550D i not so sure. If u use AV it will be auto if u use TV it will be auto. Then ligthting will be manual for u to control.
No worries take your time. Look forward to test it out with u. Then on right top got this AF metering if i spell right u can choose where for the camera to focus. Its kinda like touch focus but on DSLR u choose manual

My frend just purchased a N8 yesterday, and he encounter 1 problem that is the travel charger (AC-15) inside the pack, is not working... upon switch on the power.
Any advise? or confirm that the travel charger is faulty?
2nd question, where can he get the casing which covers the back of the N8?
3rd question, where do disable the 3g connection, and enable wifi connection?

very unlikely. None of the distributor in Malaysia practise 1 to 1 exchange. Worst case scenario, they will just change the motherboard.

i think his talkin abd 3G data connection. If i not mistaken u cant disable... what i do is remove the Internet setting for 3G data.

hehe sifu DSLR research is the more photo u take the faster u master it. Trial and error. Some photos comes out to your liking thats the one.
Because different scene have different challenges on how to take. So by playing with the setting after awhile u will know what setting to put thats my opinion.

For texting, nothing beats a physical keypad. That's why the BB are so hot selling nowadays too.

No for all ur questions. hahaha. dont worry apps and files wont slow ur phone down unless u occupy a lot of ur phone's memory.
and no virtual keypad can beat physical keypad la. unless u use swype. lol.
but in the end, no virtual keyboard shud be used while driving. appreciate ur life so that u can celebrate xmas man.

It is a 2 point plug.... he even tried using the international adaptor for the charger connection... but still fail to charge his N8... so he have to use the USB data cable to charge via his laptop, and alternative use the car charger to charge.
2) Is for the back casing. Reason being, the Sirim sticker, and zitron ori sticker is stick right behind his N8.. same side of the camera lens. Thus he wants to find out whether got any N8 casing that can cover the back which directly also covers the Sirim sticker. (coz it looks ugly with the sticker stick at the back, especially when he take pics with the N8 camera function.
3) Reason for him to ask.. is..... when he put in his simcard, automatically, the 3G is turn on... and while he is trying the N8 with some apps (he was at starbucks), and his credit from rm 10 becomes rm 1.50... the stickers can be taken off but REMEMBER to tell him it must be pasted on the warranty card.
for connection, go to settings, connectivity, settings, data use in home network, set to Wlan only.
And if he doesnt use the maxis 3g internet, delete it from the access points at destination. long press the selected destination to reveal the delete options.
normal phone call and sms if less use can last 2 or 3 days
mine one unplug charger at 7.30am it will left ~50% at 6.30pm with all the time connected through edge in power saver mode... so it's a daily charge for me...

Both using flash as I am too hungry to setup the perfect lighting conditions. The 550D was shot using the 50mm 1.8f lens and the N8 using macro mode. Looks like the lens do make a lot of difference.

I got the 50mm 1.8 for RM299 together with the camera purchase. Quite a worthwhile investment if you want to shoot objects. Not sure if it works well for portraits as I have not found a test subject yet.

Sure you can, 50mm on your crop sensor will become medium telephoto, e.g. 50mm X 1.6 = 80mm. Try taking shots with spotlights as background (e.g. Christmas tree), shoot at f/1.8 or f/2, you'll get very nice bokeh from the spotlights.

Go to setting > application setting > positioning > positioning methods > select only Integrated GPS, and the GPS will only look for GPS satellite. Assisted GPS and others (except bluetooth GPS) are using packet data/internet + GPS satellite.
Every once in a while N8 forum becomes photography forum... lol

I didn't know that the 50mm 1.8 can shoot at higher apertures. Will try it out. Thanks for the tip. Still need to do a lot more experimenting with the 550D to improve my skills.

yeap..me too..sometimws it just suddenly no coverage when im at downstairs.
but nicholas, it is only for short period.after a minute then get the signal back..thats why i nver thought it is a serious problem.dunno if u face this frequently and for a long time..

some signal weak area like in the cinema,kampung area.other phone got 1 or 2 bar but N8 totally no signal.whole day.u say serious or not?

happened to me once but in my case..; Totally freezed & can't switch off till about 15min later...damn scary.. lucky can restart..

lol my armor is based on my dex one.... because got higher armor rate... only weapon is ENG one. apa enemy also can tahan kau kau.... cannot tahan then fight back since my normal attack got hp+mp leech.
but now my damage is 500 something, already crit one...since i always crit haha so normal rate is 300 something...but 10 hits got 7 hits is 450-500 dmg.
but pass me item also no use la haha after herotic stage i think no need play liao, built item nice nice kau kau also no use...canot play PK mode...

For best quality picture just peel it off and leave it as it is Till now i don't have that dust problem, if u r worried then u can just wipe it

hmm it's hard to tell wat goes wrong.. but im suspecting my hands are shaky.... as riuken have said.. bcoz sometimes it's clear.... sometimes it's not..... but when using flash, the images goes worst.... it has some white 'shadow' in the pictures taken.. lol

hmm.. maybe u can guide me on which setting i should use to take a normal good quality pic... with/without flash? i noticed most of the time the flashes are causing the image to have 'white shadow' in it... lol wat iso? wat type of scene is best use for general photo shooting?

hmm it's hard to tell wat goes wrong.. but im suspecting my hands are shaky.... as riuken have said.. bcoz sometimes it's clear.... sometimes it's not..... but when using flash, the images goes worst.... it has some white 'shadow' in the pictures taken.. lol

You mean the whole picture actually come out to have these "White contrast" thingy? It may be caused by your fingers reflecting some light to the lens itself and there you get that white constrasted picture. And yes it will significantly decrease the quality of the picture.
Try not to get in the way of the flash , that will do.

what about wiping finger prints off before taking? Try take two shots for us daylight 1 and another is like the photo u posted. It could even be the reflection of the glass reflecting back too.

ya that pic reli looks like there's oil or fingerprint on the lens. N8 is easily affected by this too.

in my settings, only got internet, navigation, route, map and synchronization wo.. dun have positioning method =(

Go to setting > application setting > positioning > positioning methods > select only Integrated GPS, and the GPS will only look for GPS satellite. Assisted GPS and others (except bluetooth GPS) are using packet data/internet + GPS satellite.
