Hi, I have a few question.

After installing some apps, does the phone responsiveness slows down ? Does it feel like it somehow slows down by a lil bit ?
Does having lots of pictures/vids/musics will affect it's responsiveness ?

I'm used to keypads, I'm wondering if during texting, does the virtual keys respond as quick as keypads ? Even after lots of things stored ?
Atm, I'm considering on buying N8 over Desire Z, my only reason for Desire Z is for it's qwerty keys. I tend to text a lot during driving too.

Hi,

Just got my N8 today. I'm kinda clueless what to do atm. Aside from the 8 hours of charging, is there anything else I should do before properly use the phone ?
Does anybody uses swype ? Also, the paid apps in Ovi stores, do I really have to pay to download ?

Bought at CSL booth in Subang Parade. Avaxx. I've read the front page, doesn't seem like anything else is there.

What's the diff btw white balance, exposure and ISOs ? I'm kinda clueless about these things.

White balance is to adjust how white/yellow your photos want to be.
ISO Check this >> http://www.digital-photography-school.com/iso-settings
Exposure>>> http://www.photographytips.com/page.cfm/122
Thanks for the link. I understand ISOs now. About exposure, almost all photography sites talks about aperture and shutter speed. That's what makes exposure. I'm not sure if N8 are able to control both manually. The only given was exposure in the range of -2 to 2 with increment every 0.5, whereas in sites many talks about aperture f2.5-f8 and so on. Any sifu can help me ? :S

N8 has a fixed aperture of f2.8 and no shutter speed control. U can achieve some control using the different modes for shutter speed and that's about it. But still you can take quite a lot of fine pictures with it.

Oh, then what does those range -2 to 2 in exposure means ? Shutter speed ? light's ?

disable the agps?
Assisted GPS right ? Yeah, it's disable. When I run my Ovi Maps, lets say I'd want to drive to some place, it'll get stuck saying "Waiting for GPS". Is that normal ?

can.
Menu --> Setting --> Application Settings --> Positioning -->  Positioning Methods --> Disable Assisted GPS (AGPS).
but it's always advisable to turn on the AGPS. it helps u to locate n to have the positioning within seconds, and it will auto disconnent after positioning successfully.
btw, it's a must to enable the GPS ya in that setting.
then, make sure the ovi maps must be in the offline mode.
Menu --> Maps (Ovi) --> Setting --> Internet --> Connection --> Offline

Hi,
I did as you suggested, but my Ovi Maps still wont connect. I tried 2 times today, one when I was going to uni, another when return from uni. It takes about 30 mins from my home to uni. I run Ovi Maps when I'm in the car. The "Waiting for GPS" appeared, then I waited for 5 mins (which is still "waiting"), after that I decided to just drive. Till I reach my uni, my Ovi Maps is still "Waiting for GPS". The returning trip was the same, but I notice something. When I choose drive/set to destination, I saw a notification "Conn. Failed:Access Denied". Does it have to do with my network mode ? I'm using GSM, just to save battery.

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Jan 3 2011, 05:24 PM)
no no... GPS is entirely different from GSM stuff... u see those dedicated GPS device, they don have any GSM connection one, datas are all transmitted thru the GPS signal. Dedicated ones don have locking issue most the time because their antenna signal is way higher then phones, so can easily be found by satellite and get a lock. Phones, so cramp, so the antenna sure cannot fit the dedicated type, hence they put a smaller one, and in the end result in weaker signal, hence they come out with A-GPS, that triangulates your position to let the satellite know where to find u...

also, GPS lock sometimes depends on weather and also luck one, i try before same weather same place, last time N82, first time lock with AGPS, 2 minutes, second time, like 20 seconds lock edi.. of coz, since AGPS is disabled, i figure it will for sure take more time to lock, 5 minutes is not surprising at all

hm, but mine never get connected. gotta try it again. i tried running ovi maps while driving to my uni, it's in "Waiting for GPS" from the moment i left home till uni. and there is also another notice "Conn. Fail:Access Denied". I have no idea what that notice for, but it seems to come when i run Ovi Maps. Is it because I disable Internet ?

Hi,

Anyone here using Ovi Maps ? Is it working ? Mind telling me what's your config ? Access Point ? Internet/WAP/Multimedia connection ? I couldn't get my Ovi Map to work. My A-GPS is off, and offline mode. I try it again when I was going out for dinner, it's still stuck at "Waiting for GPS". Is there any other GPS I could use ? Any good ones ?
