what u mean swipe for u rm2k and give u the cash?  rclxub.gif

This method is used by loan sharks. They will swipe ur card for 2k + interest, give u 2k cash. So now u owe the bank and the bank does the chasing instead of them.

Hi. I would like to ask if you guys have heard of this ruling where a Principal cardmember can not be the Suplemantary cardmember of the same bank?

Situation:
A (Husband) holds a principal Visa card from Bank XXX. He provided his wife, B, with a supplementary card Visa card from Bank XXX.

A few years later, the wife (B) has steady income of her own and applied for the same card type, Visa card from Bank XXX as her own principal card. She then gives her husband (A) a supplentary Visa card from the same bank.

The bank wrote to both husband and wives to cancel each other's supplementary as they have their own principal card. Is this really the case? It doesn't make sense to me.
*
Not as far as I know. I applied for SCB JustOne with wife as supplementary, and at the same time also applied for SCB Business Platinum with both of us as principals. Total 4 cards - 3 principals and 1 supplementary.

OT: If you have children (<18 years), then you could open HLB Junior FD which gives 5% p.a. for up to 5 years tenure (interest credited monthly)

I am not exactly sure where to post this. Anyhow, you can also make credit card payment using your Citibank VISA debit card at any local banks' and Al-Rajhi's ATM when they introduce this service next year.

QUOTE
CITIBANK JOINS MEPS NETWORK

CITIBANK Bhd has signed an agreement with Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd (MEPS) to become part of the MEPS network enabling its customers access to 9,600 automated teller machines (ATMs) at over 2,000 locations nationwide.

The service will be available early 2011 and will include cash withdrawals, balance inquiries, loan repayments and inter-bank ATM funds transfers.

"With this partnership, Citibank will bring to its clients' convenience, flexibility and access across Malaysia, further expanding its distribution network," said Citibank in a statement today.

This was in line with the government's efforts to create a more efficient and robust payment system in the country, it added.

No surprises there. One of OCBC core values is "prudent risk taking". The other prudent lender HSBC has "conservative lending policy" as their values...they really hammer this into their employees brains.

Other banks don't have this as their value so their risk appetite is greater.

But if I'm not mistaken OCBC accepts applicants with clean records bc my friend just joined workforce gt her OCBC Ti recently...

Contact ur bank credit card fraud department. After investigation (may take months) they may decide to reimburse you with the loss. Or, if they deem u are responsible, there's a law which states that u only need to pay up to RM250 for the unauthorised purchases. Not sure about the details. For my case, Alliance Bank reimbursed my fraud amount (about 7K).

Add Public Bank to the list. This is why they have the lowest NPL in Malaysia rclxms.gif

The limit of your liability for a lost or stolen credit card is RM250.00 only under Rule 13.2 of the Bank Negara rules on credit card if it has been fraudulently used.

Please note this limit and ensure that your bank does not overcharge you should your card have been used illegally.

Most are unaware of RM250 limited liability C PLEASE READ AND BE INFORMED! CARDHOLDERS need not pay more than RM250 whenever their lost or stolen credit cards are used by others. Yet, often times, they end up paying much more.

This is because Bank Negara has not informed cardholders that they do not have to pay more than RM250 for fraudulent transactions carried out using their lost or stolen cards, when they had not acted fraudulently and had informed the banks about the lost or stolen cards as soon as possible.

This protection is given under Clause 13.2 of Bank Negara's Credit Card Guideline:

"The cardholder's maximum liability for unauthorised transactions as a consequence of a lost or stolen credit card shall be confined to a limit specified by the issuer of credit cards, which shall not exceed RM250 provided the cardholder has not acted fraudulently or has not failed to inform the issuer of credit cards as soon as reasonably practicable after having found that his credit card is lost or stolen."

Banks know about Clause 13.2 but have chosen to ignore it. Instead they pursue cardholders for the fraudulent transactions.

They will tell cardholders that a clause in the credit card contracts states that all transactions carried out before the loss of the cards are reported to the banks, are deemed to be carried out by the cardholders.

Many cardholders then pay up because they are unaware of the RM250 limited liability. "
