Meaning that you put a fix deposit with the bank and in return they provide u a credit card with the CL same as ur fix deposit amount.

Like say rm5000 fix deposit, then u get the card with 5k limit.
*
I wonder do they keep your original FD slip/cert as collateral after approving the card?

It has nothing to do with the placement of the word "World". As mentioned earlier, HSBC Malaysia does not have WMC in Malaysia.
The word World exist because the card design is standardized all over the world for HSBC Premier card holders.
*
From a Google search, it appears there are WMCs without the word WORLD on them anywhere and non-WMCs with the word WORLD. Poor guidelines/enforcement from Mastercard perhaps?

As I have informed last month, applied for a MBB Plat MC about a month ago thru the phone @ 03-58914777. Last week I was wondering why it was taking MBB so long to issue my card so call CS and was told application pending. So this Monday called back to the MBB application canter and spoke to the same girl I applied the card with. She told me my application was approved 2 weeks ago but somehow it was withdrawn (maybe they could not contact me) and she'll forward a note to her supervisor. Well yesterday got the card by courier. Pretty efficient. I normally follow up on my CC application and if I had not, today I'll still be waitng for the card. By the way, MBB increased my CL with this new card which was a surprise to me.

Services definitely but CL, I seriously doubt it. My HSBC Plat Visa has 10X the limit given whence compared to my Premier previously tongue.gif

It is issued for SCB Preferred Banking customers. However, its benefits are just normal, such as Starwood's special promotion and golfing privileges, not as many as benefits offered by MBB and CIMB/DA WMC.

Well, but they got special redemption for WMC until end 2011 which makes it very tempting drool.gif

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jan 7 2011, 01:26 AM)
There are indeed some HSBC Premier MasterCards that do not bear the "world" word. For instance, some of those issued by HSBC Canada and HSBC UK. I have seen it myself a while ago but somehow it i have forgotten it until you brought this up. See below. Two of the cards do not have the word "world".
[attachmentid=1980502]

Another thing is that HSBC Premier MasterCard credit card is not offered in all the countries where HSBC Premier is present. For example, HSBC France and HSBC China. In fact, HSBC France doesn't issue any MasterCard Worldwide product at all whilst in China, local regulation prevents it from issuing the card. They do offer several joint-venture credit cards through Bank of Communications bearing both HSBC and Bank of Communications logo but i am not sure if they do issue a complimentary credit card to their Premier customers in China.
No one can really come up with the answer as to why the HSBC Premier MasterCard issued from certain countries do bear the word "world" whilst some don't. Anyway, there are a few things pointing that this HSBC Malaysia issued Premier MasterCard is not a World MasterCard.

1. The HSBC Group claims to issue World MasterCard only in USA, Australia and Japan to date.
2. MasterCard Worldwide made a grand unveiling of the World MasterCard product in Malaysia in a press conference back in 2008 saying that this card will be arriving in Malaysia very soon.
3. CIMB Bank unveiled Malaysia's first World MasterCard in 2008, the CIMB Enrich World MasterCard. It claimed this is the very first World MasterCard in Malaysia, a statement backed by MasterCard Worldwide.
*
It is definitely not a World Mastercard. This was in fact confirmed by MasterCard Malaysia Senior Country Manager, Jim Cheah to myself while in Genting attending the MasterCard Deluxe Highland Club event back in Dec 2010 cool2.gif

Premier r for Premier Customers... so, CL shouldn't be low...( mine is quite high, but not as high as my MBB WMC)

On the Low side,
if i assume that they gave u 80k-100k CL...
10 times?! ur Plat got nearly a million CL?! wow! shocking.gif

I guess for Premier Customers it depends how much you have with HSBC. My dad Premier MC CL is less than his HSBC Visa Plat and my HSBC Visa Plat too (I don't have any depost with HSBC).

MilesAndMore have mentioned that even if you have a Premier HSBC account, it does not mean that you will automatically qualify for their normal Visa Plat.

To be honest, I had been through the best and worst for both HSBC and SCB and it really depends on yr CRM and I had requested for countless changes over the years due to their staffing issues. So maybe you really had a lemon previously but then, that was in the past ...... hmm.gif

Seriously, we know how you feel. Put so much at such low rate FDs and then finding out it's not what you expect but that's the truth cry.gif

And yes, MBB and CIMB are Worldcard though other than the Enrich Worldcard, the rest of CIMB's world offerings are just hype up Plat at best in terms of benefits etc tongue.gif

Yes, I have already redeemed Samsonite X Blade and Philips camcorder at 70% discounted points compared to normal redemption. This was one of the reasons I applied for this card.

However after the redemption, I feel this card is no longer useful to me. The items that offered discounted points for redemption under SCB Preferred WMC are so limited.
