why dun u convert ur SGD to AUD for higher FD rate? AUD FD offers higher interest rate yet the currency is strong.
Interest Rate Parity will prevent any potential arbitrage in the long term.Working Life in Singapore V5

Lol im not sure wat u do, but i beliv there's a lot of job don't have a luxury to go home before midnite. Added on January 28, 2011, 8:32 pm QUOTE(nicvoo @ Jan 28 2011, 08:45 AM) if u work less then 183 days u get taxed 15% but if u are still employed in sg u can write in to the iras to get it back. they'll send u a cheque. alternatively u can dont get it back they'll deduct it at the next round of taxing and the left over is paid back to u In 2010 i'm not tax resident so i pay 15% in 2011 for YA2010but in 2011, i'm a tax resident so i will pay the lower scaled tax rate in 2012 for YA2011. So do i calculate my YA2010 tax at scale rate and compare itto the tax at 15%. Then Irequest back the difference? Wen can i request? in 2012 or 2011? QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jan 28 2011, 03:49 AM) when u say savings. if u are talking about extra cash, then keep in SGD, coz SGD is more stable compare to RM. IF talking about fixed deposit. Keep it in RM. Coz Malaysia bank offer around 3.8% interest while Singapore bank only offer around 1.2%. Thanks bro. How about investments like mutual funds, better to invest in SG or MY? |

QUOTE(danny1010 @ Jan 30 2011, 02:01 AM) anyone worked in prudential before? IT industry.... If you're currently getting RM9K, then S$5.8K seems low. In order for the SG position to be of approximately the same job size as your MY position - my rule of thumb is that the S$ salary should be at least 85% of whatever RM salary you're already getting. Of course, if the position is not the same scope or seniority, nor in the same industry or type of company etc, then you can't make that connection.they are offering $5800 as basic pay in IT line is it good enough ? position : senior executive (below manager) normal working hours on standby in a rotational basis 20% bonus from annual salary 500sgd for misc purchases given to employee per year opportunity to travel please advice as this is first time got an offer from Singapore. should i take it ? currently earning rm9k |

QUOTE(saiga @ Jan 30 2011, 06:28 PM) Hi bro Seantang, Not exactly. I'm saying if the SG job has the same kind of job scope, size/impact and responsibilities as his Malaysian job, then yes, they should offer him that or more.Means they should offered him SGD 7650? If he's being offered a smaller job, obviously the salary will be lower.
