@WSL999, stop spamming the thread. You either post everything straight away with 1 post or don't post at all. You been repeating the same thing over and over again. If the same thing happens, the thread will go into temp lock down.

Anyway, I read a few threads back about a discussion between CCFL vs LED backlight.

Something about CCFL being "better" or more "stable" than LED backlight.

Really can't quite remember the details.

iirc forumer wildewestgoh was discussing about this smile.gif

LOL, WSL999 is being too proactive tongue.gif
Alright, back on business, regarding the backlight, CCFL is the long tube lightning that you saw everywhere, it's cheap and produce consistent lightning (in the middle at least).
LED on the other hand is many small LEDs used to light up the whole screen, and if one of the LED is faulty, you'll see brighter/dimmer lightning at one small area and sometimes even the color is inconsistent due to faulty LED lightning, this is an issue worried by most people before, and it seems Dell is confident to tell us all that this is not a problem anymore. wink.gif

Then you provide your monitor serial number, there's no service tag on other than a system unit (chassis that contains all the components), this includes a complete/incomplete desktop bundle, laptop, etc.

The true pro/best LED backlit LCD however uses a combo of 3 colour narrow wavelenght LEDs, That LCD has complete control of the colour range ... these surpases CCFL colour gamut. White LEDs however are limited wavelength range than CCFL, it has to produce enough range and intensity so that enought light pass through each filter.

RGB backlight?

Anyway guys, probably the most IMPORTANT question for those wanting to get ANY Dell IPS monitors:

What if I get a dead pixel???

As you might already know, Dell's perfection to the last pixel policy doesn't allow a 1 to 1 exchange if there's one Dead Pixel. A bright one however warrantys an exchange.

So I guess it's back to the standard industry pixel policy of 5-6 dead pixels?

Yes RGB tri LED array... On high end LCD such as the EIZOs... and SONY TVs as well that even existed 3 years ago.

Good to know.... if there a dead-pixel... just say it's a bright one to warrant an exchange.

I guess you probably need to describe it as a bright pixel. Its an advance exchange right? So they should be sending the replacement then picking up the faulty unit. Or maybe anyone with experience can share some info on this?

Yes advance exchange.... sometimes direct exchange faulty with new/refurb. one. ... sometimes they allow a few days for you to repack the old and wait for their collection.
