Stupidbump...yeah..try direct bf. If it doesn't go away in a couple of days...I suggest seeing the doc soon rather than waiting for 2 weeks as it can become painfully unbearable (though I've never experienced before, I've heard from my sil that her friend required a minor surgery).

Aiyo...pls remember CL don't rule your life. I went out during my confinement...to see the doc coz of my stitches. If hv to go...hv to go...coz if don't it might be worse (if lump don't go away or becomes severely painful)...as this can also hinder your intentions of bf coz scared of the pain.

we will try using warm towel to soothe the breast, give it a try and see if it helps in reducing the lump.
shall monitor it for another week and see how it goes.
read online that a benign lump shall disappear in 1-2 weeks.
scheduled a visit to the doc on 26 aug, fingers crossed that everything is alright..

stupidbump, you may try the below to see if it works as well?

Ask u r wife to massage the sore area frequently and firmly, starting at the outside of the breast and working your way toward the nipple.
Applying warm towel before nursing can help open the ducts and relieve pain and swelling.

I kena before when i let my milk engorged 7 hours because i lazy to pump when i was out shopping. (it was the first day after my confinement!)

I came home, turn on the shower, and use the water pressure to massage it. The water must be hot. Then, direct bf baby. It clears of immedietely.

Dear StrawberryGirl...what do you mean by milk doesn't want to come out? is it right after delivery? Coz milk will only come in like..about 5 days after delivery...and some women takes about a week.

Sore nipple can mean bad latching...which can in turn causes blocked duct as baby don't know how to suckle properly yet.

When did you try pumping? if it's during the first few weeks to a month...about 3oz is considered good! Please don't assume that when you pump...it's like lots and lots of milk (like a cow for example). BF is just not as simple as you think..though it may look simple..but it takes lots of effort and hard work for most mothers.

My advise...If you are planning for another child and would like to give breastfeeding a go again...please read and gather more information.

Neither do i want to pour cold water on you...but bf takes lots of hard work and determination.

wife had been breast feeding since day 1 till today.
fm only bought just in case the CL needs it if wife is too tired to wake up, or the EBM is insufficient during mid night.
so far so good. tongue.gif
hopefully the BM supply will increase with time, as my wife's maternity leave will be up in mid october, and by then, the little one will have to be sent to a daycare nursery during the day.
by then if EBM still not sufficient, then no choice but to supplement with FM dy..

even after 5 days my milk are less.. i try pump very hard then only can get 3oz in a day. this is consider very less already.. as you know baby have to drink every 2 or 3 hrs. my daughter can't able to suck the nipple probably.
im having a second child now and i hope this time i would able to gain more milk. i know bf is kinda hard work it is not a easy job too.. making very frustrated sometime. some mother can have a plenty of Breast milk but some might have less too.

I agree that some moms have lots of milk...which i envy...coz i had to work very very hard to increase and maintan my supply. I think the problem to begin with is the latching. It's very very important that your baby latches on well. furthermore...baby tends to empty the breast better than pump (if baby latches on well). And...pumping is never a real indication of how much milk that you have...coz again..baby is better at getting the milk out. 2ndly, during the first month..to establish your supply...it's best to direct bf.

If you REALLY REALLY WANT TO TRY BF...i suggest go going for a class...by Gina Yong. Lots of women have benefitted from it. I didnt' go as I never knew about her (until after about 4 months after i delivered). If i had..i would have gone and got better knowledge and preparation.

ALWAYS REMEMBER..TO INCREASE MILK...YOU GOT TO HAVE DEMAND..MORE DEMAND..MORE SUPPLY...NO DEMAND..NO SUPPLY.

i hv a question, how do we know that baby have emptied the breast?

one more.. it might sound stupid, but how long shd i allow my baby to latch on one breast?

he is sometimes in sleeping mode that he tends to sleep of while latching
