Hi All,

I've been BF my baby for almost 5 months, but now I feel my BM amount getting lesser when I pump at work. I can only pump about 8 ounces during office hrs (9am - 6pm). Is that too little?

If so, I want to do whatever I can, to increase my supply cos my boy wants a lot of my milk (He doesn't drink EBM but during weekends atleast I want to have good supply to feed him all day).

Hoping to try having fenugreek seeds as Phythia adviced. But how to drink it? Mix 1 tsp with 1 cup of warm water and immediately drink? Or I need to keep for few hrs and drink? And how many times a day?

VaLeNrUdOn welcome welcome... I'm a BF mommy too, started in Jan 2011. First few weeks is very tough as said by Phythia but becomes much easier later on...

Like all other mommies adviced, please keep pumping every 2 - 3hrs. That's how I pulled along as well.

Ofcourse, I drink fenugreek tea as advised by Phythia as well... It really works.

Also, being stressed doesn't help at all... It lessens your milk supply as it did to me as well. Must always think "WOW I have so much milk to feed my baby" and then the milk just keeps flowing!

All teh best to you an wife thumbup.gif

yeah I'd better not take too much of Durian cos as Phythia said it's very heaty...

BTW my baby is drinking EBM now and I'm soooooooooo happy... It happened after changing my babysitter! The previous one was so rude to me during last week just cos I said the baby's poo wasn't cleaned properly. So I decided to change the babysitter. Anyways, the new one 1 is such a nice lady and I requested her to try giving my baby EBM. 1st he had refuced. But the babysitter had fed him slowly wif a spoon and he liked it!!!

Now no prob he drinks EBM in a usual bottle. Overjoyed that he is drinking EBM instead of FM... yipppeeeee...

No worries, I still manage to grab something for lunch during the other half hour after my pumping session.

Sometimes I do sneak out to the Prayer Room and pump for abt 15min if my boss not around he he... Otherwise I'm sure to get breast engorgement

Congrats qarezma!!! rclxms.gif

Please don't give up on BF this time... U can do it... We will support u as much as we can...

Below were my experiences wif my baby, which might help u wif your situation as well...

My baby drank only very little milk during 1-2 weeks after birth. Also not to mention that I had only very little BM too... Some more I hadn't bought a pump by that time! And by the end of 2 weeks his weight was lower than his birth weight also. Then I took him immeditately to Doc, but Doc said don't worry cos that's the case wif some babies, but they should put on weight and start drinking milk during the next few weeks...

My baby also slept most of the time during 1st -3rd day. They need very little milk during the first few days after all right!!! Cannot drink 1 -2 ounces atleast at 1 feeding. So don't really worry and try telling your hb also!

As for meconium, my baby passed once, and 2nd time 1/2 meconium and 1/2 poo... Afterwards normal BF poo

Once again, I hope and pray that u wud be able to BF this time since the advantages are endless isn't it?

stupidbump, you may try the below to see if it works as well?

Ask u r wife to massage the sore area frequently and firmly, starting at the outside of the breast and working your way toward the nipple.
Applying warm towel before nursing can help open the ducts and relieve pain and swelling.

My baby also still use me as pacifier... The sucking is ofcourse different when he's drinking milk vs just sucking for comfort... I feel more ticklish...

Aiya my baby also bite my nipple so hard these days I think cos of teething rclxub.gif

No teeth come out yet but still hurts so much, he will giv me this michevious look, bite my nipple soooo hard, pull it some more and then let go (As if my nipple is made out of rubber)!!! he he he

Dear All,

I have 1 stupid question to ask. Is it most first time mum might not have breastmilk immediately after labor? If really so, is it we have to feed baby formula first? I'm delivering soon but until now din have any milk leakage..
*
Hi,

Pls don't think your question is stupid, cos most of the 1st time moms have this question, including me.

Before I delivered, I oso didn't have any milk leakage so I was wondering will I have BM or wud have to take FM to hospital to feed baby after labor.

But don't worry, u will have BM after u deliver baby. Milk will come automatically when u see u r lovely baby's face, no matter how exhausted you are after the labor. BTW if u r delivering in BF friendly hospital the nurses will always be supportive and some more when they clean baby and bring him to u, they will squeeze your nipple and feed your baby cholestrum (not sure of spelling tongue.gif ) the first milk u get with a lot of nutrition.

So pls don't be scared and wish u all the best!!! thumbup.gif

qarezma... pls hang in there, hope & pray that u will be able to continue your BF journey! we all in LYN will support u as much as we can.

Like phythia said, u can pump a lot of milk at around 5am. I still wake up at 5am and pump for around 30min, cos I wake up anyway to cook for my baby!

I observed that Oats and Horlicks both increases BM supply. I take Oats Cereal drink (chocolate flavour), morning-after pumping around 5.30am and in the night mixed with Anmum Lacta.

During day time in office I take about 2 cups of horlicks. I heard horlicks is cooling (don't know how true) so u may not want to take too much horlicks since your're still in confinement period.
