Added on August 13, 2011, 10:27 pmMy wife recently noticed a lump the size of a 5cent coin on the inner side of her left breast, which is painful.
Normal ?
Schedule to go to a doctor after her confinement 2 weeks later.
Anybody experience such lumps before?

hehehe...just keep a lookout..as nicKit say..direct bf may alleviate this.

we will try using warm towel to soothe the breast, give it a try and see if it helps in reducing the lump.
shall monitor it for another week and see how it goes.
read online that a benign lump shall disappear in 1-2 weeks.
scheduled a visit to the doc on 26 aug, fingers crossed that everything is alright..

stupidbump, you may try the below to see if it works as well?

Ask u r wife to massage the sore area frequently and firmly, starting at the outside of the breast and working your way toward the nipple.
Applying warm towel before nursing can help open the ducts and relieve pain and swelling.
*
Thanks for the pointers.
Done both since yesterday.

stupidbump, tried direct bf liao? baby is the best breastpump...

i think i'm a bf addict... i'll go "not again" if i c any fm advertisement... should i do something meaningful like becoming a peer counselor? laugh.gif tongue.gif anyone knows how to become one? wat is the criteria?
*
wife had been breast feeding since day 1 till today.
fm only bought just in case the CL needs it if wife is too tired to wake up, or the EBM is insufficient during mid night.
so far so good. tongue.gif
hopefully the BM supply will increase with time, as my wife's maternity leave will be up in mid october, and by then, the little one will have to be sent to a daycare nursery during the day.
by then if EBM still not sufficient, then no choice but to supplement with FM dy..

My bb do pee & poo quite freq everyday.. Hope this is a good sign that he's drinking enuff.. I dont mind feeding him often just had enuff of nagging n doubting from cl n mil..
Btw i found that the side which my boy always latch on will produce more milk than the side which i always pump.. Is any1 facing this?
My left nipple is crack so i used to pump it out only, n i let my boy DL on the right breast all this while..
Sigh, as per my mil she wan us to focus on work 1st as baby will keep us awake at nitetime so she dowan us to bring baby back with us when i start work..my mil is still workin so baby send to nanny at daytime, nitetime only she'll take care of him.. Regarding this, even my hb oso support her..pity my boy cant be with his parents.. i'll be sad to be force to leave him like this..
Im scare too that my boy will get used to sleepin with granny instead of his parents.. 8mths is a LONG time.. even though this is only my 2nd wk of confinement so i still have 1mth plus to keep him by myside but sometimes thinking that i'll leave him here after i start work makes me cry.. =(

I guess my wife is pretty much in the same condition as you Tess_87, she's feeding with her right and pumping on the left most of the time.
Noticeably the right breast is abit larger than the left. tongue.gif

As for your MIL and CL issue, what I can advise is that, THE BABY IS YOURS, so you always have the FINAL SAY!

If you are in anyway uncomfortable with anything, just follow your instinct.

Talk to your HB in private.
Communications between both parent at this stage is very important.
A supporting HB does make alot of difference in helping a mother cope with the upbringing of a newborn baby.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi everyone,

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and was reading up on breast feeding when I found this thread. Ooh, lucky me. There is so much positiveness and informative stuff here. Probably will come back later when nearer to EDD.

I just wanna ask that during the confinement period, for chinese, new moms will be fed rice wine, brandy, etc mixed with their meals? Won't this affect the breast milk fed to the baby?

I was chatting bout confinementlans with my mom when this thought came out and unfortunately, my mom has never breast fed.  sad.gif

Thanks. Have a great day  smile.gif

I guess shouldn't be a problem if taken in moderate amount.
My wife consume alcohols either after breast feeding, or 2-3 hours before the next feeding time.
If baby suddenly demands for it, she gave her EBM.

Anyway just for joke, i heard my aunt consumed alot of DOM during her confinement, and my cousin was never a crybaby, guess he was often in a drunk state that time... biggrin.gif
