oh phythia, i din mention hor... qarezma's hb give 2oz of fm... but baby din finish la... so her hb is worried all the time... y is baby sleeping all the time? i've been telling her how his stomach is still small, if he's not crying then he's satisfied, if he's sleeping soundly then he's fine, etc... but i guess she couldn't get pass her hb... >.< wish i could make a trip to her house... where's ijnek? he's the closest to her now

Sanju is about 2 plus right? so..i'm sure everyone is gan cheong...as it's been awhile since there's a small little one.

Sanju is 1.5yrs now... but yes, seeing a NB after that much time is suddenly soooo overwhelming!

Thx sbux, Kit, Phythia for the advice.. i am still determined, and just the other day when I got my NB to latch on for 5 mins in his sleep i told my hubby abt it and he seemed impressed with my determination...

You see, the maternity home told hubby to give 1oz every hour, i was like WTF but i dont wanna argue cos we all were under stress on the first day when baby came back and sanju was acting all weird (day 2 onwards he is better, even comes near baby to pat and sayang him, hubby and I are putting a lot of efforts in ensuring sanju does not feel left out)

I am quite worried that my NB does not wake up much for feeding, sometimes he sleeps 5 hrs in a row, and i just tell myself get prepared for the restless nights later on.. ironically last night sanju got up crying and needed his milk.. LOL...
It is true that baby would cry if they wanna be fed... but still eh, he passed meconium 2 times on wed night (he was born on tue), and till now he hasnt passed the usual NB motion, except for some small pieces of 'poo', is it normal?

during every feed i try to let him latch, but when he is hungry and crying, he just wont take it in at all

and oh, yday MIL asked why not BF, i told baby reject latching cos hubby forced on giving FM in bottle... haha...

hmm..on the part of not latching on when he's hungry..maybe coz..he's too hungry liao..so can't wait..and also coz he has to do a little bit of more work compared to the bottle.

also..probably..when he cries..you panic..and he can feel it too..they know once you are not comfortable or too gan cheong..they will then also react.

hang in there...just keep on trying..it's not easy at first...remember...all of us have gone through similar cases...you are not the first..neither you are alone

qarezma, gambatteh o~! i tot u had a pact wif ur hb n the maternity center? oh ya mayb u can skip buying fm for sanju altogether coz sanju can drink bm or ebm quick quick tell this to ur hb

Have u tried feeding baby with a cup or spoon? I know its difficult and tough.. But maybe by doing this way, the nipple confusion issue will resolve.

I am not so sure about the meconium issue though.

Yes i agree with phythia. Dont panic. Talk to ur baby. It works for the first few days when i was in the hospital. Baby too hungry and she need to work so hard for milk. So the nurse talk to her... Telling her to try... I did the sam as well. When baby is so restless on my breast, i will talk to her.. It works...

And, maybe some of u would disagree, but plz... Dont be guilty if ur baby is drinking formula. I forced myself too much till i felt like slapping myself everytime baby drinks formula.

Hang in there... Soon u will hope baby will sleep for a longer time instead...

I used to sing to Xander when he was restless during bf...maybe it can help to soothe/calm him by singing.

how to convince hb that baby dun need fm after 2yo or after weaning? i told him that baby can get full from solid food. he dun think that baby will eat enuf to stay full. sigh. suggestions anyone?

That one gonna be a little difficult as he's one of those that thinks solids are complementary unlike otherwise. Only thing is getting facts abt it...from doc or articles.

One of my sil maid still feeding the 3 yr old formula. It seems that she 3 yrs old wake up twice a night asking for milk...

She told me... "budak minum susu baik... Ada susu, baru ada darah..."

Oh.. The issues i encounter with my in laws will never be solved.. Lots of issues.. Seriously, I thought of bringing baby back to my mum's place already... But come to think of it, it isn't right. Baby loves her daddy...

And, if bring baby, have to send the maid along.. Then i have to do housework eh.. LOL... Somemore, no one gonna wash my baking utensils d...

sbux, u're lucky lo... got maid... ur mum so near to u... sigh... i tot of bringing my boy back to my mum's place n take k of him alone... sometimes hb would say that in fit of anger... i've managed thru 3 mths alone so it shouldn't b a problem rite? dunno if baby loves his daddy coz his daddy always make him cry... well sometimes...

I'm being pressure to stop bf...but knowing me..i just put in one ear..take out another. I told my mom and hubby..i only bf him when i'm at home..so ok lar..

Below were my experiences wif my baby, which might help u wif your situation as well...

My baby drank only very little milk during 1-2 weeks after birth. Also not to mention that I had only very little BM too... Some more I hadn't bought a pump by that time! And by the end of 2 weeks his weight was lower than his birth weight also. Then I took him immeditately to Doc, but Doc said don't worry cos that's the case wif some babies, but they should put on weight and start drinking milk during the next few weeks...

My baby also slept most of the time during 1st -3rd day. They need very little milk during the first few days after all right!!! Cannot drink 1 -2 ounces atleast at 1 feeding. So don't really worry and try telling your hb also!

As for meconium, my baby passed once, and 2nd time 1/2 meconium and 1/2 poo... Afterwards normal BF poo

Once again, I hope and pray that u wud be able to BF this time since the advantages are endless isn't it?

phythia, initially u said wanna wean off after 2? seriously hb keep asking when am i going to wean off. i feel like toking back he will wean off if u lemme feed him food properly. n since he's wean off milk y should he drink fm? i feel like exploding sometimes. he IS my son ok?!

nickit..yeah..that was my initial plan...but...i so sayang to wean off ..i'm not ready...and i don't think Xander is ready too. last night..i was upset with him..and i told him that i'm not givign him 'nan nan'..but made milk for him..he was crying...and asking me to open my baju...aiyo...my heart also melt.

can u explain how could boys pump in the milk to their breast..?

phythia, aiyo... so kesian... that's the problem lo... altho it seems like it's for the mother's benefit but sometimes can't they learn that the mother's 6th sense is oso correct? sigh...
