Before I forget... a brief description of my latest snare.

Sounds very obviously like a metal shell, less piercing than brass but brighter than maple. Sounded great out of the box, just needed to tighten the snares a bit. Overall, it doesn't have a luxurious feel although it costs a bomb, and there are really lavish ones that go for much much less. This drum was made to be played, a bona fide workhorse that you can rely on to deliver the goods. Does it pass the "would-you-buy-it-again-if-it-was-stolen" test? Yes, definitely.

Picked up a Ludwig Black Magic for $370 (what's that in RM? apparently around RM1125) the other day... can I get an amen?

13 x 7... certainly is a beauty, especially when you hit it!

Those are some nice snares there. Anyone here wants to venture in building their own snare? I was driving the other day and saw this

When I create my snare I'll take the whole log and cut it side to side and have it's original size which might not be round.

Instead of glueing the wood pieces together. laugh.gif

If your snare not round, then how to get heads? tongue.gif

Speaking of which, I came across this a while back. Now may be a good time to share it biggrin.gif

A bomb is about RM4k including the ATA-approved case and after shipping and tax.

Building, no. Assembling, maybe. Giving ideas and advice, yes.
Wahahaha... I'm cut out to be a consultant.

BTW, Remo heads are pretty good... or at least the better ones that don't come in plastic bags like those at Bentley :S
Id probably like them more than Evans if only it was available here, and at a relatively affordable price.

I agree. smile.gif But so far on all my records I've used Evans, except for a jazz tune that I did which I used Remo Powerstroke 3, Ambassador and Pinstripes.

I've played a couple of Peace kits before, fully modded lah tongue.gif Different snare, Evans heads, and I found them okay xD Not bad sound, looks good, but not the best.

Nothing I would refuse to play on, but then again, those were the entry level kits smile.gif
