HAHAHAHAHAHA! About 1/2 of my posts (not counting the ones that I did in Audio and Accesories) were made here
ANYWAY... Since we seem to just be hanging around and doing nothing... Here's something for you guys to discuss ELECTRIC DRUM vs ACOUSTIC DRUM. 1. For live shows 2. For under 3k budget 3. For unlimited budget. Which would you choose? |

1. Acoustic definitely for live shows, no?
2. RM3k budget.... I'd get myself a used set, maybe an old Tama Swingstar for about RM1.5k and get used Iron Cobras...RM600 and cymbals, get a Stagg promo set or the Sabian Recycled series 3. And if it was an unlimited budget, obviously I'd go for an acoustic set But of course, the best thing would be to mesh it together Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a TD-9 module... Then placing it on a practice pad kit and shifting it around my set This post has been edited by isaacmiranda7: Oct 8 2010, 06:41 PM |

QUOTE(franklooi96 @ Oct 8 2010, 08:43 PM) There is this feeling difference, sound hearing feeling difference, and appearance difference IMO. Well, then your thoughts on the Pearl ePro? Looks and feels like an acoustic drumset You mean what song I want to cover? That's of course worth some effects if you have extra plugs. And bold part: QFT. QUOTE(Fenderr @ Oct 8 2010, 08:43 PM) I think its really vital to use an acoustic set for live shows. Very sure that an electric drum will deliver good sound quality? But, i believe the acoustic set, gives it more kick and life. Very true Just my thought. QUOTE(AhBoy~~ @ Oct 8 2010, 08:47 PM) Even if you play live with an acoustic set you need monitors...But personally when I play live I prefer using in-ear monitors |

QUOTE(franklooi96 @ Oct 8 2010, 11:29 PM) Mm might want to practice more timing and create more rolls/fills first for now. Nope Never tried one. Bro you got your hands on it edi? QUOTE(fifi85 @ Oct 8 2010, 11:35 PM) Pearl e pro sounds good. But i think it will be expensive. Not sure how it compares to td20. If can put more trigger and not so expensive i might get it. Need see review first also la The Pearl E Pro is about RM10k-RM15k if I'm not mistaken My ideal drum kit will be 1 snare, 1 bass, 3 toms, 1 floor, 2 crash, 1 ride, 1 china, 1 splash, and 1 hat... Im very simply no need so many funky stuff... But now max trigger for electric i think is 12 trigger only not enuff If I do get it eventually, it will will after I purchase a good acoustic set People say the TD-20 modules do sound more complete and better, but then again, that has been the end product of years, working with keyboards, synths and electronic drums. Acoustic sound-wise for the Pearl E-Pro vs the Roland TD-20.... Pearl 1, Roland 0 QUOTE(fifi85 @ Oct 8 2010, 11:47 PM) cannot la.. 1 do recording time acoustic and electric cannot mix how r Actually, it's possible. Many drummers do use a mixture of acoustic and electric drumsets. The difference being, the acoustic is triggered into a module or mic-ed and the electric goes through a module before meeting up in the mixer And main prob wif acoustic is the noice kacau ppl. if dun kacau ppl i already forget about electric |

QUOTE(fifi85 @ Oct 9 2010, 02:51 PM) U stay double storey different cuz at top.. but then again, u stay terrace beside got neighbour oso they wont complain? Did u use some kind of padding or wat? Can teach me? E-Pro sounds better than TD-20 acoustically because YES you can change it into an acoustic drumset, and no, the TD-20 can't be changed yUP I OSO THINK SAME THING... td20 IS past tech and e pro is new stuff... R u sure pearl e pro sound better? Then like dat pearl e pro will definitely better... E pro can change into acoustic also?? 100% same like acoustic with the crash and other stuff real acoustic? QUOTE(franklooi96 @ Oct 9 2010, 04:06 PM) Oh yeah I stuff pillows in my bassdrum to prevent my walls from shaking. Yeah... But mute pads defeat the purpose of having a nice setup.Maybe there's a tip there. Mute pads for cymbals, snares is something you might want to try. I don't use them, though. I know a guy in the PDF forums who bought a nine piece, double bass drum Tama Starclassic Bubinga/Birch, complete with Portnoy's Melody Masters and a couple of Warlord snares, just to mute it up. QUOTE(zul.z @ Oct 9 2010, 07:09 PM) I'm using an acoustic set at home. but to jaga my neihgbours' privacy, I only play them during office hours (10am-4pm on weekdays) and no drums on weekends. It's been almost 6 years already, didn't receive any complaints yet. Ahh... I'm the opposite of you.anyone has tried any Cadeson drum kits before? I've tried the Lewis Pragasam's signature kit (Glaze series) and their Stadium series before. The Lewis Pragasam's kit is actually the original kit used by him, he left it at TGS Hartamas for a while. His acrylic set is a monster man, very big. Got tone and very punchy, I can say that it is worth buying( RM10K plus). The stadium series (RM3.8K) is quite nice also. The kit's resonance is fantastic. anyone? My kit is in an office... So I only play way after office hours... 7PM to 12AM anyone? QUOTE(fisherman10 @ Oct 10 2010, 03:38 AM) in-ear monitors which let's them hear the backing track+other musicians+metronome+communicate with background crew. or it could be either combination of those few. Yup QUOTE(brokenbomb @ Oct 10 2010, 07:30 AM) IEM. a real life saver. No lah just like the regular monitor that they put up in the stage, except its in ear. lol zul.z - where u study at? music college too? for me. im playing from 5-8. makan dinner time. and most of it i just practicing grooves, x bising sgt. haha. and from there onwards, is all on practice pad. 10-12. 1 hour for hand, 1 hour for feet. but im still sucks at it. haha edit : http://www.mudah.my/YAMAHA+PHOENIX+DRUM+KI...OOD-7350547.htm yamah PHX selling for rm12k? cheap oh. haha. i tot this beast would sell for like rm20k++ |

Say guys, for a secondary snare, would you use a regular snare or get a drum pad?
Take a look at this, off CK's site. ![]() The Korg Wavedrum. You can get standard snare drums, kick sounds, toms, anything from a normal set, followed by tablas, bongos, etc. I must admit, I'm intrigued. And the sound quality is pretty good too |

QUOTE(zul.z @ Oct 11 2010, 10:44 PM) yeap, I already asked one of the staff there, and he told me that they are short of instructors. That's why I'm planning to switch there, but have to wait first, coz I need to give a 2 months notice before I quit. The SQ2 is a custom set, maybe this guys used the cheapest options for everything?btw, how you know about this? Added on October 12, 2010, 9:32 amanyone knows the price for Sonor SQ2 set? I thought it'll be more expensive than this? http://www.mudah.my/Sonor+SQ2+Vintage+Birc...Eye-7379078.htm But then again, it does seem a bit too low. It's Sonor's top of the range set. I remember checking it out, and they quoted me about US$1000 for a 13' snare, so I doubt this is the real thing. But if it is.... xD WHERE IS THIS SHOP ANYWAY? |

QUOTE(fifi85 @ Oct 13 2010, 10:25 AM) Yup i think is scam. Buying drums, I prefer to see it in real person than just pictures. They're big items. Uhh... I don't think we have rankings de. Its usually personal opinion Ya guys, since im still a noob in the drum stuff, i need your help. I wanna add some drum infos on the main page. Can u guys list out the drum makers in the market now and their ranking. Such as the top drum makers that suck big portion of your money until the lower end drum makers. I can only think of Pearl, Tama, Sonor as the big drum makers cuz they're famous Like have you heard of Square Drum Co.? Never heard right? Just cause you haven't heard of it before doesn't mean it doesn't suck big portion of our money QUOTE(SchizoidMan @ Oct 13 2010, 11:15 AM) Hello fellow drummers! Good day to all of you.. QUOTE(franklooi96 @ Oct 14 2010, 08:02 PM) QFT. ;D You don't have to wait till you're good to start jamming. In fact, jamming helps you build yourself up better. As long as you can do basic beats, start jamming. It helps your overall timing and helps you to sync with other players, as well as build confidence. The drummer is awesome that I have no confidence. Nah jk, I'm not into jamming yet. Build good foundation first. Honestly. Don't wait. I know some great solo drummers who can't play in bands well. |

QUOTE(franklooi96 @ Oct 14 2010, 11:09 PM) Whatever. Studies may come first, true. But hey, jamming is fun, and everyone needs to relax.I expected this from any of you since my post. Well, of course I know it would practice and train me to be a better drummer, and I know it's a waste of chance to let them go like this. But for now I am still having fun playing alone. And studies come first; as my mom says. QUOTE(gary_wildchild @ Oct 15 2010, 01:28 AM) Hey guys... Im currently looking for a drummer who plays metal to form a band. Dont have to be pro, as long as u play similar styles is good enough. Influences Trivium, Children of Bodom, Cacophony, Megadeth, Metallica, Symphony X, Lamb of God. I'm not good enough for Lamb of God. |

QUOTE(treflip @ Oct 19 2010, 08:37 PM) anyone here knows how to get drum endorsements? interested in the fidock drums http://fidockdrums.com/about.htm or any brands...may be a music shop would like to endorse...can also endorse my whole band.... hehehehe... ps...im new to this thread but have been a drummer for quite a while...and currently playing for Stonebay and Freeloaders Inc... QUOTE(treflip @ Oct 19 2010, 08:50 PM) like my personal friend is on the verge of getting an endorsement by cadeson...hopefully after roslan aziz sign us it is possible to get endorsement but besides that just looking for an alternative hehehehe... One of most drum companies requirements is that you play their gear before you ask them for endorsements. Because then they know that you really do use their gear, like would you still play their drums even if you were not endorsed? Say your dream drums are Yamaha but you are endorsed by Pearl, halfway through would you switch?anyways..anyone here has a pearl reference perhaps a 13x6.5 or 14x6.5 that they wanna let go? heheh Just because you're able to get endorsements doesn't mean you should. Are you willing to not play other brands? If their people see you playing other brands you can get sued. Like here you say you want to play Fidock. It means that you have to be loyal to them. You CANNOT let other people see you playing other brands, especially live, no pictures, no nothing. Endorsements do not mean free gear, but you usually get dealer's prices. The bigger companies usually require you to be playing live often, have songs going over the radio and etc. Certain companies have three tier sponsorship levels. You could try checking them out. Many signed drummers are not even endorsed. QUOTE(fifi85 @ Oct 20 2010, 10:12 AM) sorry i noob so ask this question Your hit 1000 times and hit 1 million times is the quality of the head, not the snare difference between kancil and bmw is bmw more comfortable inside, got extra function, good seat, handling better and more spacious. And is luxury car. So difference between cheap and expensive snare is the quality of material means can hit 1million times b4 spoil compare to cheap hit 1000 times spoil? How about sound? Is it certain sound that the snare produce will be more expensive or cheap and expensive snare oso can produce that sound? Anyway, different snares give you different sounds, better snares give you better sounds |

QUOTE(fifi85 @ Oct 20 2010, 08:08 PM) yeah but seriously, what makes an expensive snare drum expensive? Is it the material and workmanship only? Like maybe 7 ply maple more expensive than 5 ply maple and pearl more expensive than mapex.. not that it creates special sound or wat that makes it expensive? like dat i better go for medium price snare la.. not so cheap that it broken within 1000 hits and also nto so expensive that i have to eat white rice every month.. agree? QUOTE(zul.z @ Oct 20 2010, 10:11 PM) it is not nessecary that you have to use their drum kit before you get endorsed by that brand. I've never seen Imran of One Buck Short using Cadeson kit before, but now he's one of Cadeson Endorsee. How about Yuna and Godin? Before she was using other brands, but suddenly got endorsed by Godin. In Malaysia, one of the way to get endorsed is to be known by the local music shop. This is what The Guitar Store did, they find some well known and good Malaysian artistes, and they will send a proposal to the company for endorsement (eg: cadeson, godin, etc) I guess that works too, I've got friends overseas who do endorse brands like ESP, Pearl and Udrum so... yeah and it doesn't mean that you cannot take live pictures when you're playing using other brands, what you need to do is to cover the brand of the kit. This is what Ainol of Deja Voodoo Spells always do, he'll make sure that the brand is covered (if it's not Tama) before he's playing. Last time, when Bledding Through's Derek Youngsma was here, the organizer gave him a yamaha kit, and he did the same thing, cover the brand. Rudy of Pop Shuvit got endorsed by Yamaha, but sometimes uses other brands. what i can say is, It's a bit different in Malaysia Added on October 20, 2010, 10:19 pm Hi dude.. nice to know you.stonebay is like one of my favourite local band.. btw, it'll be easy for you to find an endorsement laa bro, your "si murai penipu" is already on the radio what..hahaha It is a bit different in Malaysia. QUOTE(fifi85 @ Oct 21 2010, 10:41 AM) On a low budget, go for the Pearl Steel Piccolo. Zul.z will agree with me. |
