QUOTE(WintersuN @ Jan 7 2011, 10:07 PM) bentley music @ damansara yea~ can change to acoustic, they have 2 set there for demo, go test them, I only test the digital 1 coz when I was there they just show out the normal head 1 without tuning it(actually just setting up) so This post has been edited by AhBoy~~: Jan 8 2011, 12:04 AM |

QUOTE(liez @ Jan 7 2011, 01:00 PM) Thanks alot, panic. I would like to ask if i have a decent drum, a performance set, then which type of hoop will fit into my drum better? my drum wood had about 4-5 layers, forgotten what kinda woods it is.... is there hoop that made out of stainless steel? and be able to hold my drum firmly as well? in short...is there die case made of stainless steel and wads the normal price i can get for my drum (e.g: 1 snare and high, low mid tom??? will it cost like thousand per piece? It depends on the drum. Lots of people like die-cast hoops (which are made of steel IIRC), but apparently they can choke some drums. Wood hoops are cool, but more expensive.I'm not sure how much they cost in Malaysia, so have a look around. It shouldn't be too expensive... |

Basically how I learn to tune is to try and fail.
I start to tune from a high (both sides) tension to a low, as in high -> low(top), then high to love (both sides) then I listen to the difference, resonant and beater side etc. But for bass drum, it just doesn't work. |

Last time I used to put whole foot on pedal. But cannot go fast, will pain. |

heel up means your heel wont be touching pedal. U mean then u lower your heel then it will pain?
Weird because heel up u play with your whole leg. Unless you take up your heel and play with your ankle part only. Thats a different technique when ppl go very hgh speeds. Dont try to go fast first. Try to be consistent with your double bass. No use able to play fast but not in tempo. |

But i can't get to play it :/ My tips is that go for the one you like more and feel more comfortable doing it.For me I like heel down and what I need to do is to warmup properly and just keep practicing so that the pain wont attack me. Of course I can do a bit of the swivel technique, but I don't really like it as it makes me have the habit to shake my leg alot, like in school or restaurant etc. This post has been edited by franklooi96: Jan 9 2011, 03:05 PM |

QUOTE(musefanatic @ Jan 8 2011, 11:48 PM) Reference, I suggest you don't buy what they have. You order your your specs. Its expensive, why go for what they have? Go for omething you'll treasure and know as your own. QUOTE(OH- @ Jan 9 2011, 02:22 AM) I mean I really don't get the technique, like heels up or heel toe etc2. Just don't know if the method I'm using is correct. But i can't get to play it :/ I know people who can play fast in all kinds of technique. But it takes a lot of time to practice.Contrary to popular belief, heel down, can also be used very fast. But as you said you play heel up, try playing with that first. Try to play for one minute at 120 bpm, then slowly build up speed. What you can also do, to practice your slave leg, is to play simple songs, with your left leg only. Don't care about the open close hi-hat feel and all first. Just do beats with your slave kick first. Start simple. It will help you master coordination. |

Added on January 9, 2011, 11:41 pm QUOTE(WintersuN @ Jan 9 2011, 02:42 AM) when u play normal kick, what technique do u use? Stick with that first. The other tecniques like heel toe and stuff is great but will only confuse you if u think about it too much at beginning stage.. Correct way of kicking the bass drum is the heel should not be touching the pedal. Your sole of your feet should be projected to around 30-45 acute degree towards the pedal. To give a good bass hit, kick the bass hard and confidently, and do not let go of the pedal until before you are going to kick the next time. Let the kick slammed and stick to the bass skin. With this method, there will be no pale kicks (a loud kick, follow by a few fade away kicks) And as for fast kicking (using one leg to do x2, x4 times faster), it takes sometime to practice. Similar to your hand + wrist movement. If you move your hand without wrist movement to play a x2 faster beat, your hand (arm) needs to move x2 to match it. But by adding wrist into action, arm needs to move x1, and wrist x1 (not so tiring). Apply this to the bass drum kicking. Your leg move, and your ankle move as well, then you will be able to do fast bass kick without needing to use double pedals. No shortcut, it is a painful training...
