Looks like the Galaxy Tab's demand is not very good after the iPad has been launched in M'sia.

Anyone switching from Galaxy Tab to iPad?

Yup, the price of iPad is very competitive. So it makes people to go for it instead of Galaxy Tab which is very expensive.

And exclusivity to Maxis is another reason for Tab to have less demand.

Thirdly, an Apple product is an Apple product. It is all got to do with branding.

Where you stayed? How long the users need to wait if order?
You get it straight when you order it? How long can it survive on battery? How long is the warranty offered by Maxis?
*
actually nope. I went to Miri Maxis Centre last week to ask for the Tab then they told me out of stock and will be in-stock by this week. So I asked her to gimme a call when it arrived. Until yesterday they didn't call me up so I decided to pay them a visit to check the stock myself, and luckily enough to grab an unit smile.gif

well, last night I was playing continuous (music, surfing, ebook, download apps etc)around from around 6pm until nearly 11pm and the battery ran down to 11% or so... didn't check the initial battery left so can't really comment much about it yet... will update with this thing... Currently trying to do several complete cycle charge to optimize the battery performance first...

The warranty is offered 1 year I guess? IIRC, the warranty offered by Maxis is based on your contract.. 1 year contract = 1 year warranty.

Man, I must say that this device is really shiok for Ebook reading and surfing!!!
By the way, it is pocketable to my front pocket (office pant) and rear only for jeans...
haven't try it out on my basketball short pants yet

dunno, i maybe wrong but China doesn't have official release of the Tab isn't it? And their price seems to be much higher than Malaysia... simply hits RMB 6999 (China Ren Min Bi)

besides, most of them in China are importing the Tab from UK or US... there are even some who are unaware of the "No-phone" capability Canada-set and import it at last to be frustrated. My suggestion will be getting either from Maxis or Singapore smile.gif

But if ppl buy WM or oths Android phone w/o package, it's almost the same price or mayb higher price. Why they don't complain tht hp is expensive?

So it's depends on ppl preferable. worth or not for the tab, justify yourselves. biggrin.gif

I agree. Price alone cannot justify's one purchase decision.

Buying a tablet just based on price is wrong. These are not cheap stuffs about RM2K and above. Knowing I am a gadget freak who often buy just to test, I am often asked this question : Galaxy Tab or iPAD ?

The answer is simply look at your NEEDS - what you wish to use the tablet for. Don't buy just to follow the "Jones" unless money is not a problem. Each has its pros and cons.

The iPad is good ( not excellent ) as a browser ( better buy another browser for it if this is important), excellent for ebooks, magazines, gaming and good for videos ( Apple supported format ) , poor for non Apple supported formats - it is more of a consumption gadget. Remember there is NO flash support. It can never replace your netbook. It does not come with any office apps and be prepare to pay US$15 to US$30 for a full set of office apps or the iWork suite. Editing is poor - do not expect to do any major work creation on it. File management need to do thro iTunes or through cloud services ( eg Dropbox ) . If you buy the CCK - you need to jailbreak to enhance its usage

The SGT will lose out on the fluidity of the interface but its main advantage I see is its USB port and external card support : so if you are looking at a tablet to do some serious office work too - this is a better alternative. It can basically do what the ipad can but offers more flexibility, convenience. If you read a lot - forget about the tab , the ipad is a better choice for now.

APPS : iPad advantage - close to 35000 apps for ipad and another 250000 apps ( run on small size screen 3.5" and if expanded twice suffers a poorer resolution). If playing/experimenting with apps is important - ipad is the king. The Android market has 100000 apps and most probably it can meet your needs unless you are addicted to certain games/apps which only Apple iOS has . So apps availability will be another important consideration.

From what I read so far, seems ipad or apple's weakness is its standard functionality. Based on friends' feedback, once jailbreak, then all the weaknesses can be corrected with free apps and workarounds etc.

So for those non-techie who don't want to play around firmwares and jailbreak or paying for workaround apps, ipad/apple is a no go.

As for SGT, seems can open/play all windows files as well as install apps, without checking licenses etc..... very flexible like a netbook.

My info above correct?

That's sums it up. Ios is for kids and android is for adults. Oh hope no apple fans are reading this.

Ipad is a cool product. Just that android gave us much more freedom and customizing, even u jailbreak it still not as same as android after root, the are so many ways we can play around with android. Whereas ios is just apps and apps and apps. And most good ones need to pay...

Switching from ipad to sgt, i think not. Even what i have said above, i still oves my ipad. Checking emails, browsing, reading has been too good. Way too convenient compared with laptop. tongue.gif but i can see myself using sgt along with ipad. I definatly will bring sgt out more often. The biggest reason is android, 7",light... These three reasons alone beat ipad hands down..

Price is the biggest argument thus far, but with maxis plan the price of sgt of rm1849/1749 looks not that bad. Considering most good smart phones are pricing above rm2k now.

Abt paybook, i m not sure. From all the info and watching their live conference. I still dun get it. I wonder what it can do ipad and android cannot. But i do see lots of things android and ipad should have advantage over whatever RIM gota offer. Maybe meego or windows tablet may be interest me more...

compare Tab to ipad...

personal point of view, actually Tab is not bad at all compare to iPad.. the reason its fail because of branding and price... Apple compare to samsung.. definitely ppl choose apple because fancy wat and some more cheap than samsung. the other thing is when u bring it out ppl will " Wah Ipad leh, very nice lor"

when comes to compare in spec.... Android and OSX.. OSX more nice and running smooth compare to Android.. and Android still young need R&D further... apps perhaps Ipad win here...

technical, i would say both aren't bad.. samsung winning point is camera with flash, auto-focus and video camera.,,

then, 7" compare to 9".. which u prefer? for guy dont bring handbag like girl definitely choose 7" like me.. although 9" nice for browsing, ebook.. but hey its huge man... r u going to bring 9" on hand during shopping or walking in bukit bintang.. arent u scare kena rampas pi??

so u all think bout it....

both got pros and cons.. what u buy just proud of it...

I agree also, now that the cheapest ipad with 3G is only at 1999. Galaxy Tab at 2699, is really overpriced. But this is also because M likes to bump the price so high to make their package sounds so good.
