For shoppers, should hold in mid valley etc. |

From what I read so far, seems ipad or apple's weakness is its standard functionality. Based on friends' feedback, once jailbreak, then all the weaknesses can be corrected with free apps and workarounds etc. So for those non-techie who don't want to play around firmwares and jailbreak or paying for workaround apps, ipad/apple is a no go. As for SGT, seems can open/play all windows files as well as install apps, without checking licenses etc..... very flexible like a netbook. My info above correct? QUOTE(benny888 @ Dec 2 2010, 10:06 AM) I agree. Price alone cannot justify's one purchase decision. Buying a tablet just based on price is wrong. These are not cheap stuffs about RM2K and above. Knowing I am a gadget freak who often buy just to test, I am often asked this question : Galaxy Tab or iPAD ? The answer is simply look at your NEEDS - what you wish to use the tablet for. Don't buy just to follow the "Jones" unless money is not a problem. Each has its pros and cons. The iPad is good ( not excellent ) as a browser ( better buy another browser for it if this is important), excellent for ebooks, magazines, gaming and good for videos ( Apple supported format ) , poor for non Apple supported formats - it is more of a consumption gadget. Remember there is NO flash support. It can never replace your netbook. It does not come with any office apps and be prepare to pay US$15 to US$30 for a full set of office apps or the iWork suite. Editing is poor - do not expect to do any major work creation on it. File management need to do thro iTunes or through cloud services ( eg Dropbox ) . If you buy the CCK - you need to jailbreak to enhance its usage The SGT will lose out on the fluidity of the interface but its main advantage I see is its USB port and external card support : so if you are looking at a tablet to do some serious office work too - this is a better alternative. It can basically do what the ipad can but offers more flexibility, convenience. If you read a lot - forget about the tab , the ipad is a better choice for now. APPS : iPad advantage - close to 35000 apps for ipad and another 250000 apps ( run on small size screen 3.5" and if expanded twice suffers a poorer resolution). If playing/experimenting with apps is important - ipad is the king. The Android market has 100000 apps and most probably it can meet your needs unless you are addicted to certain games/apps which only Apple iOS has . So apps availability will be another important consideration. |

I assume you are referring to access to US market, need to root. But if can side download the apps and then install on tab, no need root, right? QUOTE(adamking @ Dec 3 2010, 01:41 PM) 1. Can download paid and free US based apps e.g. Paypal, Ebay, Skype, Hungry Shark, Audible. |

Why do you all prefer Digi plan (rm1899) when it's more expensive than maxis (rm1849)? Is it because of the unlimited usage for rm68/month vs maxis rm48/month (500mb)? |

I guess it depends on individual. For those who have wifi at home and workplace or visit places with free wifi, then 3G is not required. Maybe those who commute or students or outdoor type require more 3G |

It's ok to go with maxis if you already have a voice plan wif them. Same for digi or celcom etc ... no point getting a new voice + data plan from new telco, just because of the SGT. QUOTE(arbelnox @ Dec 13 2010, 01:28 PM) |

For reading, I prefer to use landscape so page can fit the width, then just scroll down as I read.
For portrait, cannot fit width otherwise font too small. |

Think someone mentioned same problem with browsing and force closing, earlier.
Maybe lowyat has too many flash and ads ... you experience the problem for mobile version or pc version lowyat? QUOTE(adamking @ Dec 15 2010, 03:02 PM) When using Dolphin HD to reply lowyat.net forum message, often hang and force close. It hang on stock browser as well. So now use Opera, very stable. I think it is browser webkit engine problem, since both using same engine. Anyone having same experience? Added on December 15, 2010, 4:43 pmAlso there are 2 kinds of opera in market . Which one you use ... opera mobile or opera mini? This post has been edited by laowai: Dec 15 2010, 04:43 PM |
