In my experience basically more megapixel means sharper image, provided bundled with good lens and sharp focus. smile.gif

hi...I also just bought my Body D7000 this afternoon! haha...but you should had bought AF-S DX 50MM F1.8G lens rather than AF-S DX 35MM F1.8G lens. Somemore, AF-S DX 50MM F1.8G lens is lot cheaper.

This machine is lot lot more complicated than D3000. Many function and setting that I dont understand at all!!!!

I believe I really have to read the whole menu guide???? that going to take long time... blink.gif

It's still very simple compared to D300, D700 or D3 since it's targeted at consumer range. If you encounter any problem with the setting then only read, no need read all like "how to set ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed", "how to change White balance", "how to turn on your camera" doh.gif

Even my sister who is a noob gadget user knows how to operate my D300 in merely 2 days doh.gif

Believe me, after 2 weeks you wont bother to use back D3000 anymore. Capturing using D7000 will seem much easier than D3000 lol.
Changing WB, ISO etc are just clicks away. Just like D90 XD

But D7000 is using a different dial la.

Base on ur own preference, if u want it as ur normal walk around lens den take the 35, much easier to take group pics n stuff if u wanna take more portraits den take the 50mm, better if the 50mm 1.4G, =) U can try out with kit lens at 35mm and 50mm and try shooting

If 35mm, go for 35mm f/2D or 35mm f/1.4G. If 50mm, go for 50mm f/1.4G or Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM.
Other than that, picture quality isn't promising at all. wink.gif

A S M P mode, quite easy to use...what i mean, at least i understand the basic skill of using A,S,M...which I learn from my D3000!

But, when come to D7000...wow...exposure also many setting...AF setting...different from D3000

I just want to shoot at my son face..but, the focus point very hard to aim at eyes...seems running here and there..! why?

This u muz read the manual under focus section clearly! haha... below the button where u press to remove the lens, there is a button to change focus settings, hold in while turning the front and rear command dial to change the focus preference! If u wanna focus eyes, change it to AF-S, means single point, then u select single point, not auto!! then u can focus on the eyes =) Hope this helps...

Andy214, high ISO and if your image underexposed you will see the noise for sure.

Tried setting up to EV+5, seems same result; If in dark room or extreme low light, ISO 6400 is really bad, when zoom in from the camera preview can even see some red dots, but that's under extreme low light without flash.

I think the EV will help more if there's more light in the room?

35mm lens when attached to DX body, there's crop factor of 1.5x, which changes the focal length to around 52.5mm. It's good for many situations, as they say, a general walk around lens; You can use this lens for whole day if you want.

If you attach the 50mm to the DX body, the focal length will become 75mm, which means you need to stand further away from the object to get the same view with 35mm. You can take the 50mm f1.8, which is cheaper but let's say you want capture full body, you need to stand further away than if you use the 35mm.
Personally, I prefer the 35mm f1.8G which cost around RM800 or less.

Its a combination of high ISO and slow shutter speed.

Try in a bright room, shoot at ISO 6400 and 1/1000s and compare that with ISO3200@1/500s and ISO1600@1/250s... you'll see not much difference.

Try ISO1600@2s, ISO3200@1s and ISO6400@1/2s, and again, you'll not see much difference. (try it with long exposure noise reduction ON, then try again with it OFF and compare)

Just try it and see. If its low light, its low light, doesn't matter what ISO you use it'll be rather noisy.

Bottom line if you're shooting in no light, create light. Nothing else will save you.
